Biography
Julie Calhoun is an Emmy-nominated reporter who joined WSVN in August 2025 and she’s beyond excited to now call sunny South Florida home.
Julie is a storyteller who thrives on connecting with people, whether she’s covering breaking news, highlighting community heroes, or just sharing a laugh in between interviews.
Her career has taken her across the country, telling powerful stories and building relationships along the way. Before joining WSVN, Julie reported and filled in at the anchor desk for KING 5 in Seattle, where she covered high-profile court cases, major crime stories, and natural disasters including wildfires and floods – work that earned her an Emmy nomination. One of her most impactful projects was an investigative report on a 30-year-old unsolved murder of an 11-year-old girl, which brought in new tips and breathed new life into the case.
Before Seattle, she anchored and reported for WBTW in Myrtle Beach, where she led in-depth series on human trafficking, gun violence, and the push to pass medical marijuana in South Carolina. Her journey also took her to Oklahoma City, where she covered national headlines including devastating tornadoes and a nationwide manhunt.
Julie began her career in her home state of Georgia, reporting in Augusta on stories that resonated far beyond the region, including the Charleston Church shooting.
Julie is a proud Savannah native and graduate of the University of Georgia. Outside the newsroom, she’s a devoted animal lover, a passionate college football fan, and a self-proclaimed foodie who loves discovering new restaurants. Most days off, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and their two dogs, Bogey and Ella.
