And nothing says “new year, new me” like a body reboot. Enter Biohack Lab. From hangover helpers to energy resetting machines, this ultimate recovery spot is dripping with good feels.

Partying hard into 2026 could be too much for the body and could turn you into a zombie.

At the Biohack Lab, their purpose is to make you feel alive again, down to the cellular level. Oh, that sounds pretty smart.

Raina Cassis: “We’re a wellness center. We focus on the mind, body and spirit. We have over 25 different modalities that cater to making you the best version of yourself. You have zombie cells in your body. In science, they’re known as senescent cells, these are cells that are not working and functioning at their best levels.”

And going through their “Post New Year’s Eve: Revive and Reset’ gets rid of these lazy little guys.

Raina Cassis: “The first thing that’s done is definitely a cryo to help boost your body and your cells and wake you up. Think of your cells as little battery packs and we’re recharging them, and when your cells have more energy, that’s good for blood flow, circulation and inflammation, which we see a lot after drinking.”

Spencer O’Neal: “I like the cryo chamber, there’s just kind of an immediate endorphin pump after that and you just have so much energy, like, I leave that and I wanna go back and party again but maybe I’ll take it easy for a couple of days.”

Then, it’s off for some heat.

Raina Cassis: “Definitely an infrared sauna session to sweat out whatever toxins you ingested during that time.”

After, go inside this white ball.

Raina Cassis: “Hyperbaric oxygen therapy here, is that you go into a chamber, we put your body in a pressurized state, almost as if you’re in a submarine diving down under water. When your body is in that pressurized state, the molecule of oxygen becomes small enough to travel wherever it needs to go to.”

And some much needed drip tops the holistic experience.

Raina Cassis: “Ending off with an IV of your choice. And you also have molecular hydrogen, which is an incredible tool. It gives you more clarity and more energy to be able to take on the rest of the weekend if you have to.”

Nicholas Wingord: “I partied pretty hard with my best friend and that added to feeling even more tired and I feel like being here has been great. I already feel rejuvenated.”

The Biohack Lab has locations in Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines and Coral Gables, with more coming soon.

From dueling lawsuits to a Swift-tacular engagement, Deco looks back at what happened in 2025 https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/from-dueling-lawsuits-to-a-swift-tacular-engagement-deco-looks-back-at-what-happened-in-2025/ Thu, 01 Jan 2026 01:03:01 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655960 Every year has its highs and lows, but when it comes to entertainment news, 2025 was the gift that kept on giving — for better or worse. From shiny trophies to dueling lawsuits — and a Swift-tacular engagement — here’s a look back at some of the biggest pop culture moments of the whole year!

Major victory and major controversy: 2025 began with Demi Moore winning her first ever major acting award at The Golden Globes for “The Substance,” while “Emilia Perez” star Karla Sofía Gascón found herself in hot water over her posts on social media.

Indie film “Anora” dominated at the Academy Awards.

That film took home five trophies, including best picture and best actress for Mikey Madison.

Jonathan Bailey had a wickedly good 2025, onscreen and in real life.

The actor was named People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”

Taylor Swift wrapped up “The Eras Tour” in 2024. But she had plenty more up her sleeve this year.

The singer dropped her record-breaking album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” And her man, Travis Kelce, finally popped the question, kicking off her engagement era.

She also released a concert film and docuseries about “The Eras Tour” on Disney+.

Taylor’s BFF Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco tied the knot after dropping their collab album, “I Said I Love You First.”

And in celeb splits, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban called it quits after 19 years of marriage.

Beyonce also had a billion dollar year.

The singer’s “Cowboy Carter” tour became the highest grossing country music concert tour ever. She also became the first Black woman to win the Grammy for best country album and finally won the coveted album of the year trophy.

The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn Tour” became the highest grossing tour by a solo male artist ever.

Spotify Wrapped crowned Bad Bunny as the year’s most streamed global artist, with almost 20 billion listens around the world. The Latin superstar was also named next year’s Super Bowl halftime show headliner.

Adele announced her first acting role. She’ll be part of Tom Ford’s upcoming Anne Rice adaptation, “Cry to Heaven.”

The courts also saw a lot of Hollywood action this year.

“It Ends With Us” ended with dueling lawsuits between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. She’s accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliating against her. But he claims she took over his movie, extorted him and tried to destroy his career. The trial is set for May.

Also making headlines: Sean P-Puff-Diddy-Daddy Combs was found guilty after an eight week trial in New York City.

The disgraced rap mogul was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in prison.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was temporarily suspended in September over the host’s political commentary.

That decision led to debates about free speech, with many celebs coming to his defense. That lasted six days.

The biggest movie of the year didn’t come from Hollywood.

China’s animated flick “Ne Zha Two” raked in almost $2 billion.

When it comes to domestic blockbusters, “A Minecraft Movie” starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa made over $423 million.

Marvel suited up for action with “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts*” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”

And the year comes to a close with some highly anticipated sequels.

“Wicked: For Good” marked a return to the Emerald City and all things green and pink, while James Cameron took audiences back to Pandora in “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”

Reggae icons join forces to support Jamaica’s rebuilding efforts with fundraising concert at Hard Rock Live https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/reggae-icons-join-forces-to-support-jamaicas-rebuilding-efforts-with-fundraising-concert-at-hard-rock-live/ Wed, 31 Dec 2025 02:38:42 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655660 Music with a mission is taking center stage at Hard Rock Live this Friday.

The benefit concert, “Stay Strong Jamaica,” is proving to be the best way to start 2026.

With feel-good vibes from reggae icons like Shaggy, Inner Circle, Julian Marley and many more, the event is about bringing hope and support for the island through dancehall.

The musical artists are joining together to send a message for those still thinking about buying a ticket.

Rohan Marley: “Hesitant to help people?”

Julian Marley: “Yeah, you can’t be hesitant to help people.”

Rohan Marley: “If someone comes knocking and you can help, whether it’s through buying a ticket or making a phone call to your friend to buy a ticket.”

Roger Lewis: “It’s gonna take at least minimum a year-and-a-half, maybe two years for those 50,000 to 60,000 impacted people.”

Ian Lewis: “Just to be stabilized, not to recover fully.”

Shaggy: “Make sure you guys are there. I will be there, we’re gonna turn up. You dig? Biggup. For a good cause.”

100% of the proceeds from the concert go to rebuilding Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa devastated the area.

These SoFlo spots are hosting New Year’s Eve parties featuring fireworks, beaches, gardens and an amusement park https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/these-soflo-spots-are-hosting-new-years-eve-parties-featuring-fireworks-beaches-gardens-and-an-amusement-park/ Wed, 31 Dec 2025 02:28:03 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655659 There are hundreds of things you could be doing to ring in the new year, but in case you’re stumped, we know a couple of places. From fireworks on the beach, in a garden or at an amusement park, Deco is showing you the best places to say hello to 2026.

If you’re looking to start 2026 with a bang, then Ocean Drive is calling.

When the clock strikes 12 this New Year’s Eve, Lummus Park will be your front-row seat to one of Miami’s biggest firework shows.

Jonathan Plutzik: “The great thing about the firework celebration on New Year’s Eve is, it’s so significant. You can almost stand anywhere here on Ocean Drive and take it in.”

Take in the amazing views while sitting on the beach or dine at one of the open-air restaurants.

Jonathan Plutzik: “All of the restaurants have extended into the street, serving not only there normal menus, but actually a special taste of Ocean Drive menu, it’s really a wonderful way to take in the new year.”

But that’s not all. The fun continues on New Year’s Day.

Jonathan Plutzik: “And every year on New Year’s Day, we celebrate the new year with a full orchestra concert by the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival.”

For families who don’t want to wait until midnight, Christmas Wonderland in Tropical Park will be ringing in the new year a bit earlier.

Tony Albelo: “We call it ‘New Year’s at Nine,’ where we are going to have a full-blown New Year’s Eve experience, but instead of the countdown happening at midnight, it’s going to happen at 9.”

Fireworks will light up the night sky at 9 p.m., just as it would for any New Year’s Eve party.

Tony Albelo: “In addition to that, we have a big confetti storm that’s going to happen by the main stage, we have a dance party. We’re having a DJ on the stage, and the DJ is going to be playing top hits.”

This family fun won’t break the bank, either.

Tony Albelo: “‘New Year’s at Nine’ costs nothing extra. You come to Christmas Wonderland with your regular ticket, you’re going to get the party favors, you are going to get the dance party, firework show is going to happen, confetti is going to happen. Everything that’s going to happen is all included in your ticket.”

“Lit” would be the best word to describe New Year’s Eve at Fairchild Botanical’s NightGarden.

Daniel Wu: “If you never been here before on New Year’s Eve, you’re in for a treat.”

The twinkling forest will also be bursting with fireworks at 9 p.m.

Daniel Wu: “We are a family-friendly event — great for all ages, everything for family to date nights. And we chose 9 o’clock so that everyone can attend and you have a chance to go for after parties. We have food, we have drinks, we have music and all of the lights and the fireworks you have come to expect from us.”

Tickets for Ocean Drive New Year’s events are free of charge.

And this year, it’s got the biggest concert lineup the show has ever had. With huge superstars like Mariah Carey and Post Malone — this year’s celebration is set to be entertaining, fun and really festive.

Just before Ryan Seacrest helps us ring in 2026, the music will already be in full swing, thanks to Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, Post Malone, Chappell Roan, Pitbull — and many more.

Busta Rhymes: “‘This kind of energy right here, with just us coming together, if we keep this going and keep this growing, we’re going to have an unparalleled 2026.”

Jordan Davis: “This is the thing that you grow up, you know, everybody in the country is watching this tonight.”

It’s also special for first-time performer BigXthaPlug.

BigXthaPlug: “I’m excited. I’m blessed. It’s an honor.”

K-pop fans are also in for a treat. Huntr/x, from “KPop Demon Hunters,” plan to bring an electrifying performance.

Rei Ami: “We’re bringing the energy. We’re lit!”

EJAE: “The 2026 energy.”

Audrey Nuna: “Dick Clark energy. Let’s go.”

Charlie Puth will hit the stage too – ten years after his first Rockin’ Eve performance in Times Square.

Charlie Puth: “I’m happy to be inside this time now, I was outside in Times Square and it was a particularly chilly 2015.”

Good music, good fun, looks like we’re ready for 2026.

Eventgoers take over the streets of Coconut Grove for annual King Mango Strut https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/eventgoers-take-over-the-streets-of-coconut-grove-for-annual-king-mango-strut/ Tue, 30 Dec 2025 02:30:38 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655384 The mango is such a happy fruit. If you say so, but it is colorful inside and out, and tastes so sweet to eat. The annual SoFlo parade celebrating the tropical delight is gearing up to get your juices flowing.

The 42nd King Mango Strut will take over the streets of Coconut Grove on Sunday, January 4th.

It’s a loud and lovely way for neighbors to get together.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “The mango strut is a bunch of coconut grove people and their friends getting together to march in front of a bunch of other coconut grove people and their friends.”

The strut was born when some free-spirited folks weren’t allowed to play with the well-behaved kids.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “Forty-some years ago, a bunch of people tried to get into the Orange Bowl jamboree parade, and they wouldn’t let them in ’cause their act was too goofy, and so they started their own strut.”

“Goofy” is definitely good at this celebration.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “Really, it’s just people coming together and forming groups, and we don’t really care what they do as long as it’s funny. We want it to be funny.”

The strut is bookended by plenty of chances to let your hair down and lose last year’s blues.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “We have a pre-party beforehand, we’re closing the streets at noon, the parade’s at 2, and then we have an after-party at Commodore Plaza and on Fuller Street.”

You’ll be pleased to know that the message of this year’s gathering is very reassuring.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “Yeah, so this year’s theme is this is fine. While the world is in a certain amount of chaos, we’re just saying nothing to worry about here, this is fine.”

The event is a reminder of how unique and cool the grove has always been.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “It’s one of the events that’s just an absolute staple that’s one of the reasons people think about when they think about what makes Coconut Grove, Coconut Grove.”

Maybe the best part of King Mango Strut is that it extends your New Year’s Eve partying for a few more days.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “Instead of staying sober after January, no, no, no, just give it a little time, right at least until the end of the weekend.”

Becky G pulls back the curtains on her life in new documentary, ‘Rebecca’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/becky-g-pulls-back-the-curtains-on-her-life-in-new-documentary-rebecca/ Tue, 30 Dec 2025 02:25:32 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655282 She’s a pop star, a cultural powerhouse and now, she’s got her own documentary. Becky G is pulling back the curtain on her life, her roots and the music that changed everything. From family stories to memories, this one’s personal.

Becky G has done pop hits, global tours and now, she’s doing something that’s way more close to home.

Her new documentary, “Rebecca,” tells the story behind her stage name, family, faith and finding her voice.

Becky G: “I think being Mexican-American has given me a lens that I view the world through with a lot of duality. That’s why I identify as a 200 percenter. I have two worlds that I get to pull inspiration from, two languages, two flags that I proudly represent.”

The film follows her journey as she goes back to her roots, while creating her musica Mexicana album, “esquinas,” and musically, she’s not done slowing down. She’s already teasing what’s next.

Becky G: “It would maybe be easier for your fans to keep up with you if you just stuck to one, but I also think that, how I am a fan of music myself, is how I should show up as an artist, which is, you know, there is no specific category. I don’t really like the idea of being contained to just one box.”

At the core of it all, this is a story about identity, healing and owning every part of who you are.

Becky G: ‘”But I think for us right now, part of our resistance is our celebration, is the fact that we’re not going to stop singing. We’re not going to stop dancing. We’re not going to stop celebrating who we are because there’s nothing wrong with who we are.”

No filter. No apologies. Just Becky in full color.

Becky G: “I shouldn’t have to give up parts of myself to be accepted anywhere. I should fully embrace myself. It’s when it started to feel more like a superpower, and I hope that for future generations, that they feel empowered by their duality.”

Becky G’s documentary, “Rebecca,” is now on Netflix.

Deco previews ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ as hosts from across the country prepare the countdown https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-previews-dick-clarks-new-years-rockin-eve-as-hosts-from-across-the-country-prepare-the-countdown/ Tue, 30 Dec 2025 01:09:29 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655377 Ryan Seacrest will be in Times Square counting down to the new year once again. But this year, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” is spreading the party across the U.S.. Deco’s got your preview.

Ryan Seacrest is back in Times Square for the iconic ball drop, and once again his co-host is Rita Ora. But the celebration isn’t staying in one place.

Julianne Hough and Rob Gronkowski will bring the energy to Sin City.

Julianne Hough: “I don’t really party at night. That’s not really my jam. So if I can do it, you know, one time a year, and have it be on this scale, it’s pretty awesome.”

Rob Gronkowski: “I’m so excited for this night and it’s gonna be mayhem, it’s gonna be a lot of energy, it’s gonna be special and we’re going to rock ourselves into 2026.”

This is Gronk’s second year hosting, and he said there’s nothing like ringing in the new year live on national television.

Rob Gronkowski: “I know it’s gonna be one of the best nights of my life, there’s no doubt about that. I’ve been a part of New Year’s Eve before on live national television. It’s one of the greatest nights that you can possibly have. I remember not falling asleep until 5 a.m. as well, just because there was so much adrenaline that was going on.”

For the first time ever, Chance the Rapper will host “Rockin’ Eve’s” central time zone countdown in Chicago.

As for the performers, there’s something for everybody — Mariah Carey, Post Malone, Diana Ross, and one band that hits especially close to home for Julianne.

Julianne Hough: “Goo Goo Dolls, I mean, it’s gonna be awesome. I think I danced to that song, ‘Iris,’ on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ so it truly is iconic.”

John Rzeznik: “I think it’s amazing to be part of this because it’s been going on for so long. We actually played it 30 years ago when had our first hit and Dick Clark was still hosting it.”

So whether you’re watching from Times Square, Vegas, Chicago — or on your couch — “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” is promising a big countdown with a lot of memories.

Happy New Year!

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” with Ryan Seacrest airs live on ABC starting at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31.

2 local clothing boutiques provide fashion tips ahead of New Year’s Eve celebration https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/2-local-clothing-boutiques-provide-fashion-tips-ahead-of-new-years-eve-celebration/ Tue, 30 Dec 2025 01:06:51 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655383 New Year’s Eve is almost here — and if you still don’t know what you’re wearing, you’re in big trouble. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you fashion it out. We checked in with two clothing boutiques to break down what to wear before the clock strikes midnight.

Yep. It’s almost that time, and picking the right New Year’s Eve outfit can be so stressful. But choosing the right look makes the night easy. First stop, “Bigdropnyc,” in Miami Beach!

Malka Katzav: “This New Year’s Eve, you can expect a lot of texture, a lot of glitz, glam, sequence. It is all about texture this season.”

“Bigdropnyc” is known for its high-end style.

Malka Katzav: “We love seeing women be in their full confidence, and that definitely starts with what you are wearing– and how you are feeling. “

And has major respect within the fashion community!

Malka Katzav: “We have a lot of different actresses, models, influencers, celebrities — a lot of the Real Housewives of Miami shop with us frequently. Alexia Nepola is one of my great clients. Cindy Crawford, when she’s in town, always visits us, and Eva Longoria is another.”

The New Year’s Eve vibe here is bold, and you will stand out.

Malka Katzav: “Here we have a beautiful strapless, sweetheart neckline, feather mini dress. You can never go wrong with an LBD (little black dress). This dress has been so popular, this is actually from our in-house label, Malka. It is the Kai Lace Slip Dress.”

Malka Katzav: “Here you have a beautiful retro fit, mini sequence dress, you can never go wrong with gold, anything metallic, during New Year’s is an absolute yes, especially when you’re in Miami.”

“Private Label by Genavieve” brings a Miami feel with a creative twist.

Melissa Hernandez: “New Year’s Eve is a special occasion; we love to help our women find unique designer pieces that make them feel confident.”

The looks are effortless, stylish, and showstopping.

Melissa Hernandez: “We’re seeing gold sequins, with an open back, always very sexy and edgy for Miami.”

Genavieve also has some tailored pieces made just for you.

Melissa Hernandez: “But if you want to make a bold statement, you gotta wear one of these silver sequins, custom-made, private label by Genevieve Gowns.”

Different styles, same message for New Year’s Eve. Wear what feels good, let midnight do the talking, and while you’re shopping, don’t forget to have a sip.

Genavieve Paige Villar: “We also do have prosecco in the store for our clients who don’t look at their times, and it’s five o’clock somewhere. We have some prosecco and champagne when shopping, so we try to make it really fun here at the store!”

A Broward steakhouse gives mouthwatering meals to its patrons alongside entertainment and drinks https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/a-broward-steakhouse-gives-mouthwatering-meals-to-its-patrons-alongside-entertainment-and-drinks/ Tue, 30 Dec 2025 01:05:26 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655376 A new restaurant has Broward foodies licking their chops.

Actually, those chops are being eaten along with other cuts of mouth-watering meats. This place is redefining what a steakhouse should be in 2026. Dig in.

The South Florida food scene is heating up, now that Jay’s in town.

Jay Shirodkar: “So we think that we’re the sexiest steak house in Fort Lauderdale.”

That’s a bold claim. Back it up, if you will.

Jay Shirodkar: “Since we’re serving steak and since we serve it well and since we serve the best steak we’re able to push the envelope on the other stuff that we do, which is a spectacular entertainment program, a really unique drinks program.”

The special vibes start with the location of Jay’s.

Jay Shirodkar: “Which is a 1920s church that was moved brick by brick off of Las Olas to its current state.”

Things have certainly changed in the last 100 years.

Jay Shirodkar: “Inside, we’re doing exactly the opposite of whatever you do at an old church, right, it’s drinking and dancing and having a good time.”

And eating. Don’t forget about eating.

Jay Shirodkar: “We do an oyster Rockefeller, and we make sure that the presentation is spectacular.”

You can also start off with favorites like steak tartare. And believe it or not — this is their version of steak and eggs. Some of the entrees are prepared in front of your eyes.

Jay Shirodkar: “Obviously, our prime rib trolley rolls right up to your table, and that’s a spectacular show. The prime rib trolley that we do is non-existent in the state.”

They can whip up a supreme steak right next to you.

Jay Shirodkar: “We have an Australian wagyu tomahawk. And our chef comes out, and he’ll do the whole presentation, cut it up for your tableside.”

Answer the call of your sweet tooth with the “tall, dark, and handsome chocolate cake”. Or the gold flake-topped “24 k magic bar”. “Jay’s Espresso Martini” is part of the mix, as well.

Jay Shirodkar: “Constantly tweaking to make it perfect.”

The entertainment puts the entire experience over the top. One night, it’s a sultry table-top dancer, moving to some classic ballads.

Then again, you might show up at Jay’s on a hot night.

Jay Shirodkar: “If you see the fire dancer in this room going along with the DJ, there is something that I can’t describe, you just have to see it and feel it.”

Ring in the New Year by sipping bubbly and enjoying soup at the Haitian Soup & Champagne party at NoMi Village https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/ring-in-the-new-year-by-sipping-bubbly-and-enjoying-soup-at-the-haitian-soup-champagne-party-at-nomi-village/ Sat, 27 Dec 2025 00:53:38 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1654806 There’s nothing that says tradition like Soup & Champagne. This annual Haitian party is slurping its way to NoMi Village for the first time, and promises to be the flavorful celebration to kick off the new year.

Sipping bubbles between spoonfuls is best done around friends.

The Haitian tradition of Soup & Champagne has been circling around North Miami for years.

Haitian Pooh Bear: “We became the first black, free country. So the way the slaves celebrated was with the soup, which is a pumpkin soup. Everybody came together and we tasted the soup and we tasted the freedom. This has become a tradition. We had everybody here, from Jamie Foxx to the ‘Housewives of Atlanta.'”

But for the first time, NoMi Village is setting the vibe on Jan. 1.

Jones Pierre: “The city wants to give shine to restaurants that are in the city. So we’re actually going to have four different restaurants from the city cooking a different type of soup.”

Jones Pierre: “Once you walk in, you’re gonna be given soup and champagne for two hours, it’s unlimited. Then after that, it turns into a party, a celebration. There’ll be performers, there’ll be fancy looking Haitian people, beautiful.”

Icons will be gracing the stage.

Haitian Pooh Bear: “We have Alan Cave, we have Rutshelle Guillaume.”

Haitian Pooh Bear: “This is a very, very anticipated duo. We have a lot of surprises, of course, we don’t want to reveal everything here. But we do have a couple of international artists also will be pulling up.”

This all white bubbly party is worth raising a spoon and glass to.

Jones Pierre: “This is our seventh year we’re doing it in Miami. We’re gonna have our VIP sections, we’re gonna have our party zone. They’re gonna be able to take the fancy backdrops pictures.”

Haitian Pooh Bear: “Start the year the right way, on a positive note and try to make 2026 the best year that we can.”

Tickets to this unique celebration start at $100.

Find the perfect workout to decompress from holiday stress at Club Studio at the Miami World Center https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/find-the-perfect-workout-to-decompress-from-holiday-stress-at-club-studio-at-the-miami-world-center/ Fri, 26 Dec 2025 01:17:40 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1654545 It’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. But the holiday season sure can be stressful! Thankfully, exercise is a great way to decompress and release those endorphins! Deco’s checking out a new spot that’ll get you back to feeling merry and bright any time of year.

Ed Sheeran singing “Merry Christmas”: “So kiss me under the mistletoe. Pour out the wine, let’s toast, and pray for December snow.”

They make it sound so easy. But in reality, the holidays can be kinda…

Jamie Lee Curtis as Nora Krank in “Christmas with the Kranks”: “I’m getting the ham. You get the tree.”

Talk about Christmas chaos! But have no fear, it’s easy to work off some of that stress!

At the new Club Studio at Miami World Center, getting pumped up is part of the fun!

Nia Simmons: “This is the first Club Studio here in Florida, and we’re excited to show Miami what we’re all about.”

This new state-of-the art facility is more than just a gym, it’s the ultimate spot for all things fitness and wellness.

Nia Simmons: “We have five boutique studio classes: Hit, boxing, cycle, yoga, reformer Pilates, which is super popular here in Miami. We also have a recovery lab. If you wanna also step away from the studio rooms, we have a fully equipped fitness center.”

Wait a minute, did I hear boxing?! That sounds like the perfect way to pound out some of those holiday headaches.

Nia Simmons: “It’s a good way to build strength in your upper body and also your core. There’s seven rounds on the bag and two rounds on the floor and it kind of helps destress your day if you’re having a difficult day that day.”

Nothing says yuletide like a sweat sesh. And a spin class is the key to shining brighter than that bulb you asked someone to change for the hundredth time. It’s okay, just pedal the pressure away.

Nia Simmons: “The music is loud, the lights are low. Whether you take it at the beginning of the day at 5:05 a.m. or at 7:30 at night, it’s gonna change your vibe.”

It’s not a proper de-stressing session without a little TLC. That’s where the recovery center comes in, which includes cryotherapy, red light therapy and massage chairs. I feel better just thinking about it.

Nia Simmons: “We all know the holidays are stressful. You’re trying to do a million things at once. Club Studio is that one-stop shop, whether you wanna work out stress in the fitness room, pamper yourself in recovery or grab a protein shake for an energy boost.”

Deco’s Shireen Sandoval reviews hottest holiday box office hits in critic’s corner https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/decos-shireen-sandoval-reviews-hottest-holiday-box-office-hits-in-critics-corner/ Fri, 26 Dec 2025 01:00:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1654541 When you’re a movie lover, December releases can feel like the ultimate Christmas presents. But not all of them can be wrapped up in big, shiny bows. But it’s the thought that counts. Anyway, here’s my thoughts on four of this month’s top films.

Fired up and sparking up a frenzy! “Avatar: Fire & Ash” lights up the world of Pandora,\ with another epic adventure.

The third installment in the franchise is a cinematic spectacle that’s as visually stunning as its predecessors.

It’s a big, immersive blockbuster that isn’t afraid to hold back on the intensity, the emotions, or the run-time. But for fans of the saga, the three-plus hour run time is totally worth it.

Let the good times roll! Because the only thing sweeter than Caroline is Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson’s magnetic chemistry in “Song Sung Blue.”

This musical drama is based on the true story of the couple behind the Neil Diamond tribute band, “Lightning & Thunder.”

It’s a feel-sad, feel-good movie about love, relationships and never letting your dreams die.

Play ball! Timothée Chalamet is going balls to the wall in the table tennis drama, “Marty Supreme.”

The actor has been training for this role since 2018, and it shows.

It’s a riveting performance in a chaotic, unhinged film that’s part sports-movie, part crime thriller and part comedy.

Timothée proves, yet again, that he’s not only mastered the game, but his craft.

My anaconda don’t want none unless you’re Jack Black and Paul Rudd!

The two are getting up to some real funny business in this reboot of the 1997 cult classic.

But in their version of “Anaconda,” it’s bloody violence meets slapstick humor. Sounds like the holidays to me!

It might not be the best movie out there, but it sure is entertaining!

These SoFlo salons are bringing the brightest looks to celebrate the merry season https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/these-soflo-salons-are-bringing-the-brightest-looks-to-celebrate-the-merry-season/ Thu, 25 Dec 2025 01:23:30 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1654369 Holiday glam needs to be spotlight bright rather than silent night. Don’t stress, two South Florida salons are breaking down the trends this merry season. From shimmer to snatched looks, consider this the official glow-up cheat sheet.

George Macready as Ballin Mundson in “Gilda”: “Gilda, are you decent?”

Rita Hayworth as Gilda in “Gilda”: “Me?”

Ah, that infamous hair flip by Rita Hayworth. Hollywood glam will never be the same.

And celebs like Christina Aguilera and Sydney Sweeney are keeping that look going, especially during the holidays.

At LAHH Salon in Bay Harbor Islands, it’s about to get glamourous.

Arianna Palacios: “LAHH Salon stands for life is about healthy hair. And we are known for exactly that.”

Arianna Palacios: “Today, we’re specifically doing a traditional Hollywood wave style and we’re also doing a traditional updo. So these are some things that we’ve seen circling back, trending again and again. It’s a statement look while also being quite timeless.”

And for makeup…

Arianna Palacios: “We’re following along with some fashion week trends, we’re doing a metallic holiday look. It can draw attention to somebody’s eyes or their cheekbones.”

Customer: “I like the shimmery in the makeup that it still keeps the natural tones, down to earth so it’s not, like, too colorful.”

There’s no place like hair at House of Mane in Wynwood.

Sarah Caiceo: “We are a departmentalized salon. We do color, cut, specialize in extensions, keratin, straightening treatments, anything, you name it, we do everything that’s hair.”

And just like Kim Kardashian, everything is better with a bow.

Sarah Caiceo: “The trends we’re seeing is very effortless but also, kind of, that elegant, old money sort of feel. So we really wanted to hone in on that polished, pretty look. So a lot of slick backs, half up, very soft waves with a little added feminine bow.”

And these powerhouse looks give an added bonus.

Sarah Caiceo: “You can actually use the temples of your hair to give you a mini facelift. It’s a very easy style if you have kids or family coming over and you didn’t have time to wash your hair, it’s just a really style to throw together.”

The Amazing Max will make audiences levitate in family-friendly holiday magic show at Adrienne Arsht Center https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/the-amazing-max-will-make-audiences-levitate-in-family-friendly-holiday-magic-show-at-adrienne-arsht-center/ Thu, 25 Dec 2025 01:09:02 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1654371 One thing that unites young, old and everyone in between is magic. And the Arsht Center will be especially magical for kids this weekend, because Friday through Sunday, magician Max Darwin is performing, otherwise known as “The Amazing Max.” He will levitate an audience member, he will make money appear… coins, not $100 bills, I asked.

Max Darwin is…

Max Darwin: “Quite often, I get to introduce kids to what it feels like to go to the theater.”

The Amazing Max!

Max Darwin: “We do a high energy interactive, family-friendly magic show.”

Bringing extra holiday magic to the Arsht Center’s Carnival Studio Theater.

This Friday through Sunday…

Alex: “How?”

Max Darwin: “Is the best question.”

Which is fun for the whole family during holiday break.

Max Darwin: “Half of the jokes are directly for the adults.”

Max Darwin: “This is 50 cents, do you know what we could buy with this in Miami? Nothing.”

Max Darwin: “Which they should be, because they bought the tickets and they deserve to have a great time too.”

Max Darwin: “Everything happens in this space between us. It’s not in my hands, ‘Look, it’s a magician doing things.’ It is as opposite a digital experience as you could have coming to The Amazing Max.”

Alex: “You’re on your toes but I feel that the audience is on their toes too.”

Max Darwin: “People’s objects from the audience vanish, another kid produces a bunch of coins out of the air, someone will levitate.”

Alex: “Like ‘The Exorcist?'”

Max Darwin: “Their head will spin around, Alex. That’s right.”

Alex: “Only the adults watching will know what we’re talking about.”

Max Darwin: “It’s a family show.”

Alex: “Every show is gonna be different in that environment right?”

Max Darwin: “Absolutely.”

Alex: “When you’re up there, you’ve got to roll with whatever happens. Is that ever nerve-wracking for you, especially with magic?”

Max Darwin: “We’ve all seen something, a boring show, but maybe I don’t want to say that, right?”

Alex: “Max, we’ve all seen a boring show.”

Max Darwin: “I have an idea of what I want to happen but I want it to be different every time.”

Alex: “How far does the magic extend? A credit card bill, is that within your power?”

Standard tickets cost $47. But there’s a VIP option for $88.

Max Darwin: “We have a magic carpet right in the front row. Everybody learns a magic trick, gets to take one home for the holidays that they can easily show their friends and family.”

Everyone in the family entertained and happy all at the same time? It is magic!

Max Darwin: “The kids light up at seeing impossible things happen in their own hands on stage and the adults light up seeing that happen to the kids.”

For tickets to The Amazing Max, which has shows Friday through Sunday, head to the Arsht Center website.

Davie business brings calm to locals through holistic inner healing https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/davie-business-brings-calm-to-locals-through-holistic-inner-healing/ Wed, 24 Dec 2025 03:05:20 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1654131 New year, new inner peace! Because if 2025 was chaotic, might as well start 2026 on the calmer side. One local gem is helping you unwind and reset.

So stretch, breathe, and ommm…

The sound of traffic equals anxiety galore.

At “Living Sculpture Sanctuary” in Davie, being surrounded by nature’s music is like a reboot of the inner self, especially for 2026.

Mary Luz Rodriguez Alvarez: “Similar to what happens to your computer sometimes that it glitches or whatever you have to restart and unplug it.”

Mary Luz Rodriguez Alvarez: “The sound plus vibration plus being in that immersive experience it helps to reset.”

Mary Luz Rodriguez Alvarez: “We have all different elements here. We have water, we have fire. The moment that you come into the sanctuary you begin feeling a sense of peace.”

By expanding this peaceful oasis, it’s become a happy and meaningful place for everyone.

Mary Luz Rodriguez Alvarez: “So for the second phase ibuku, everything, every single space is not only aesthetically beautiful but it is so meaningful at the same time. In the case of the ibuku circle, which is a semi circle and you’re gonna find seven windows. They’re going to be representing the seven chakras, which are centers of energy.”

From yoga to bonsai classes, they’re tapping into Zen vibrations, including sound bath sessions. Because after all, humans are made out of mostly water.

Mary Luz Rodriguez Alvarez: Water gets affected by sound very easily and the same with our cells and our organs. We have these quartz bowls, they are 22 different frequencies and also they are key to different chakras.

Soon in 2026, the thumping sounds of drums will center the space.

Mary Luz Rodriguez Alvarez: “We are so excited. I cannot wait, from like musical classes. For example drumming. Taiko drumming with Japanese drums that are so healing especially for the heart chakra that is the first sound when you were born.”

Ben Miller: “There’s a lot of reasons to love this place. It’s very very special and it’s growing and growing on me. There’s a close parallel between music and rhythm and health and nature and all of these combine in a lot of different ways.”

The Super Bowl of shade, honey.

Athena Dion: “Mia’s a bully, I’m just gonna say that.”

Alex: “A bully?!”

Mia Starr: “The width of the shoulders in that work room.”

Athena Dion: “It’s kind of like a dueling dragons situation but it’s dueling drag queens.”

Mia Starr: “She is actually the bully. She’s projecting.”

Athena Dion: “We bicker like two little, old ladies.”

Mia Starr: “She calls me ‘big back’ all the time.”

Juicy Love Dion: “Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee.”

Mia Starr: “If you thought Mariah Carey was a diva, this girl would literally request water.”

Athena Dion: “No, we bully each other all the time, but it’s out of absolute love.”

Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson channel Neil Diamond in musical biopic, ‘Song Sung Blue’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/hugh-jackman-and-kate-hudson-channel-neil-diamond-in-musical-biopic-song-sung-blue/ Tue, 23 Dec 2025 01:23:20 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1653741 Get ready to fall in love with Lightning and Thunder in “Song Sung Blue.” With Hugh Jackman flexing those Broadway pipes and Kate Hudson striking those power chords, they’re a match made in musical heaven. Throw in Neil Diamond as a third wheel and it’s the perfect love story.

Go ahead and sing along.

Neil Diamond’s classic tunes are getting revived in the movie, ‘Song Sung Blue.”

In the biopic, Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson play Lightning and Thunder — a real-life Neil Diamond tribute duo. And Neil’s a fan.

Kate Hudson: “So wonderful. He’s so, he loves the movie. He said to me that, you know, every once in a while, something comes along and gives his music new life.”

And this film does just that with both stars loving their characters.

Kate Hudson: “With Claire, it would be her resilience, you know, and, I think it’s a theme throughout the whole film for everybody, for every character, but, it’s, like, grit. The grit and resilience.”

Hugh Jackman: “I got my first job when I was 26 so I had a lot of jobs and I was in a lot of amateur productions.”

Hugh Jackman: “When I graduated from drama school, I started a theater company, which, I assumed, would be for nine people and it’s still going. My life went in a direction that I never thought possible and it’s been incredible, but, I, like Mike, I’d still be doing it. Even if I had another job, I would still be doing it somehow.”

With the flick dropping on Christmas, it’s all about love and giving, especially for the icon.

Hugh Jackman: “He loves the story of them and always has. I think it speaks to his generosity and his real belief that for every Neil Diamond, there are thousands of really great musicians that don’t quite make it, but still love it and that’s awesome.”

South Florida woman set to sing national anthem at Orange Bowl https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/south-florida-woman-set-to-sing-national-anthem-at-orange-bowl/ Tue, 23 Dec 2025 01:21:32 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1653742 The Orange Bowl wanted to find their new national anthem singer, they teamed up with the whole world. And boy did we deliver! South Florida, we mean — not us, we can’t sing. Because the big game on Jan. 1 now has its singing star. Her name is Krystal, and her voice is Krystal clear.

We’ve got your winner…

Krystal Molina: “I just got so excited I had to apply.”

…To sing the national anthem for the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl football game on New Year’s Day.

Krystal Molina (singing): “And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.”

OK, Mariah Carey! No, that’s not her name, it’s Krystal Molina, and she’ll be a star soon enough. Because after 100 talented singers applied, only the finalists were invited to sing their hearts out at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday.

Bob Lafferty: “We had an amazing 10 performers come, and we picked the ultimate winner. It was unanimous.”

Before the panel of judges…

Bruce Orosz: “She was the first contestant, and she set the bar.”

…Called one name only.

Krystal Molina: “I was kind of shocked, I’m not going to lie. There were so many amazing singers here today and each and every one of them brought something special to the table.”

Humble and classy! Dedicated to her craft, too.

Krystal Molina: “I’ve been singing since I was about seven. But I’ve always liked an opportunity to get on stage, any opportunity where there’s a mic, I’d always jump on.”

Krystal has a growing following on TikTok and has already released four singles.

Krystal Molina: “This is just another stepping stone that I’m so happy to be a part of.”

No pressure, it’s just the Star Spangled Banner on national television.

Bruce Orosz: “Timing is very important and confidence to invoke that emotion that brings goosebumps to the crowd.”

But she’s got this, OK, for her family, she says, and for her Miami community.

Krystal Molina: “To be a part of this, to be on such a big stage, have so many eyes on me. I’m so excited to show the world what I can do.”

Plus, any crystal ball will show you that Krystal has a bright future.

Krystal Molina: “I am from Broward. I just graduated from American Heritage High School. But now I’m a freshman starting my second semester at New York University.”

She’ll be happy back here in the heat for her starring moment on the field.

Bob Lafferty: “Well, she came out and just crushed it, so bring that same energy. Do it again. Engage with the crowd is always great, and wear orange.”

Krystal Molina: “We have to tune in, watch the game. Have a great, amazing day. And I’m happy to show up and show out.”

Hollywood stars share their favorite holiday traditions, foods and presents https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/hollywood-stars-share-their-favorite-holiday-traditions-foods-and-presents/ Sat, 20 Dec 2025 01:03:56 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1652880 The holidays are here, and ’tis the season to give a reason to celebrate. Well, a few celebs are taking us up on the offer.

Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars are giving Deco the gift of peeking into their favorite traditions, food, and presents. Unwrap that bow.

Music is a big holiday “Yes, please!” for “Song Sung Blue” stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson.

Kate Hudson: “Always, I’m like a Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald holiday vibe.”

Hugh Jackman: “Bing Crosby.”

Kate Hudson: “Well, my son’s name is Bing.”

Hugh Jackman: “Also movies.”

Kate Hudson: “‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ is maybe one of my favorites.”

Hugh Jackman: “I saw it last year for the first time.”

“Next Level Baker” judges Carla Hall and Candace Nelson are serving up sweet memories.

Carla Hall: “My grandmother’s five-flavor pound cake.”

Candace Nelson: “Before Sprinkles, I actually had a bûche de noël business for the holidays, so I’d make these holiday roulades.”

On “The Masked Singer,” Ken Jeong says Coke is it when it comes to what he loves around this time.

Ken Jeong: “My favorite gift I’ve gotten recently was a case of Cherry Coke Zero, because I’m a Coke Zero fanatic.”

However, the real gift is a family affair.

Ken Jeong: “Being with my family, my wife, my kids, and our families on both sides.”

Michelle Pfeiffer and Denis Leary say that, just like in their movie, “Oh, What Fun,” tradition goes out the window.

Michelle Pfeiffer: “For Thanksgiving, both sides of our family came together – about 35 people, and they all stayed, and we somehow managed to squeeze all of them in. And then, you know, kids grow up, kids start having their own families.”

Denis Leary: “Same thing. Negotiate with my adult kids about what the schedule is for Christmas. They’re adults, so they have their own ideas, and if you want them to come to your house, you have to accept some of the new ideas.”

And for “Best Medicine” star Josh Segarra, it’s all about playing with his elf.

Josh Segarra: “I love the elf on the shelf. That’s my jam right there. I love trying to figure out, it’s one of our favorite things, after the kids go to bed, and seeing where Leonard, our elf, is going to end up.”

From classic tunes and favorite films to family traditions old and new, happy holidays!

SpongeBob proves he’s a ‘big guy’ to help Mark Hamill’s Flying Dutchman in ‘Search for SquarePants’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/spongebob-proves-hes-a-big-guy-to-help-mark-hamills-flying-dutchman-in-the-spongebob-movie-search-for-squarepants/ Fri, 19 Dec 2025 01:12:17 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1652539 New couple alert: SpongeBob SquarePants and Luke Skywalker! Say no more, just take my money. One of Hollywood’s most enduring sea sponges is surfacing in a new adventure, and Deco talked to the stars to get to the Bikini Bottom of the story.

This time, SpongeBob isn’t just flipping Krabby Patties — he’s tagging along with a familiar ghost: the Flying Dutchman!

“The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” sends our favorite sea sponge way off the map — straight into dangerous waters he’s never been in before.

Bill Fagerbakke and Tom Kenny say the journey is bigger, weirder and way more chaotic, in the best way possible.

Tom Kenny: “What people can expect is a lot of laughs, a lot of silliness, a lot of colors, a lot of kineticism.”

Mark Hamill, who voices the Flying Dutchman, agrees.

Mark Hamill: “But on an epic scale, I mean, this thing is big, you know. I love the series, but I’m used to being Bikini Bottom! We go into the underworld, where no sponge has gone before!”

SpongeBob’s mission? To prove that he’s a “big guy.”

Expect all the old-school silliness and a lot of heart.

Bill Fagerbakke: “It came out of the imagination of these incredible writers and storyboard artists, and the underworld is really extraordinary, as Mark said. It’s really fun and a gas to see on the big screen.”

And if Patrick, SpongeBob and the Flying Dutchman ever hit SoFlo on an adventure, this would be the first thing they’d say:

Bill Fagerbakke: “Why is it so hot?!”

Tom Kenny: “I got to get out of here before the next hurricane hits!”

Mark Hamill: “At least it’s got a place to dock my ship!”

The sponge is braver, bolder and still a little absorbent.

Prince Street Pizza brings famous NYC slices to Miami Beach with first Florida location https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/prince-street-pizza-brings-famous-nyc-slices-to-miami-beach-with-first-florida-location/ Fri, 19 Dec 2025 01:08:39 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1652546 Another New Yorker has decided to settle in Miami Beach. Now, before you roll your eyes in frustration, hear me out. This big apple transplant brings a legendary comfort food you can really sink your teeth into.

Pizza fanatics, rejoice! Prince Street Pizza has arrived!

Lorenzo Hidalgo: “We’re originally from New York City on Prince Street itself. We are famous for our Sicilian SoHo squares as well as our classic New York-style rounds.”

It took a while, but this hot NYC downtown joint has settled into its new home on Lincoln Road.

Lorenzo Hidalgo: “This is our 18th location overall. However, this is the first location in Miami, in Florida specifically.”

The place made sure to honor its Big Apple roots. The menu is a veritable map of the city’s SoHo neighborhood.

Lorenzo Hidalgo: “So that’s why we have ‘The Boozy Broome,’ which is Broome Street. ‘Spicy Spring,’ Spring Street. The ‘Mercer Margherita’ is Mercer Street and so forth.”

As a public service, we’re gonna break down Prince Street’s top-selling Sicilian pies. At number one — “The Spicy Spring.”

Lorenzo Hidalgo: “Spicy marinara sauce, Fra Diavolo pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, pretty basic, that’s what put us on the map.”

At number two, but quickly gaining in popularity, is “The Naughty Pie.”

Lorenzo Hidalgo: “And that’s a spicy vodka sauce, fresh mozzarella, pepperoni, ricotta cheese, followed by the hot honey drizzle on top.”

For you traditionalists who like their pies completely shaped like the full moon, there’s always “The Original Prince”.

The secret to the success of all these items is– you guessed it — New York water.

Lorenzo Hidalgo: “We have a company called New York Watermaker, and we have a filtration system in the back, so what it does is we’ll send them a sample here of the Miami water, they take it back to New York, they’ll balance the pH, and we have New York water running in the back.”

Hanging on the wall of the place are photos of famous folks who love their ‘za. Adam Sandler’s up there. Seth Rogen made the cut. Apparently, Alec Baldwin has made it to the place.

Lorenzo Hidalgo: “Every celebrity wanted to come to Prince Street Pizza.”

This isn’t a place to linger over a pie or a slice. There are no tables here, and that’s how the owners like it.

Lorenzo Hidalgo: “Absolutely, New York-style, you get in, you get the heck out.”

Prince Street Pizza is so good, it pleases man and beast.

Guest: “It’s easy to pop in and grab a slice. They have a bunch of different flavors that are all great.”

Slices start at $5, and pies start at $27.

Jack Black and Paul Rudd slither on screen for a comedy reboot of 1997 horror classic, ‘Anaconda’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/jack-black-and-paul-rudd-slither-on-screen-for-a-comedy-reboot-of-1997-horror-classic-anaconda/ Thu, 18 Dec 2025 03:18:07 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1652093 Hold onto your popcorn, “Anaconda” is slithering its way back on the big screen this Christmas. But this time, it’s a comedy reboot with funny guys Jack Black and Paul Rudd. In this “Anaconda,” the stars go from making a horror movie to experiencing one.

Thandiwe Newton: “My anaconda don’t. Yeah, of course, I mean, come on. It’s the trailer, Jesus Christ. You do it.”

Steve Zahn: “I’m not doing it because I’ll have to pay money.”

Thandiwe Newton: “Will you? What?”

Steve Zahn: “I’m kidding.”

Thandiwe Newton: “Silly boy.”

Being silly is just an everyday thing for Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn on the re-imagined version of “Anaconda.”

Especially co-starring with Jack Black and Paul Rudd, who play childhood friends trying to make an indie version of the 1997 classic.

It’s all fun and games until a giant snake hunts them down. But keeping it professional on set is key.

Jack Black: “We only did a few takes of that as well because I was running top speed down a dirt, uneven terrain. And I don’t think they wanted to risk old man Jables’ ankle snappage.”

Paul Rudd: “All day covered in goop and gross, it was disgusting. And he has a boar on his back.”

Paul Rudd: “We were in Australia, it was summer. I don’t understand the Celsius-Fahrenheit thing yet, I don’t plan on getting it. But I think it equaled out to about 130 degrees Fahrenheit, and it was so uncomfortable, and this guy never complained once.”

No real snakes were used in the flick, but watching videos of some is enough.

Jack Black: “From the Amazon, where you do see some snake attacks. Dude, there’s some scary mo-fo videos.”

Paul Rudd: “Also, it’s always gross when you see a snake and it’s like, ‘Oh, my god, he just ate a cow. You can see the shape of it in his gullet.'”

Jack Black: “Oh, yeah.”

Making this adventure flick also includes music on the scene.

Steve Zahn: “There was a constant song.”

Thandiwe Newton: “There was a song all the time.”

Steve Zahn: “There’s always a song.”

Steve Zahn: “It was a great set.”

Thandiwe Newton: “Such a beautiful atmosphere.”

Steve Zahn: “It was a fun, every day was fun.”

Thandiwe Newton: “So fun. And I think the audience gets to share in the fun, frankly.”

Thandiwe Newton: “Say hi to Miami for us.”

Steve Zahn: “Not me though.”

Thandiwe Newton: “No.”

A couple of SoFlo spots are serving holiday cheer with festive cocktails and chilled treats https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/a-couple-of-soflo-spots-are-serving-holiday-cheer-with-festive-cocktails-and-chilled-treats/ Thu, 18 Dec 2025 01:10:53 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1652094 If you could eat holiday cheer — it would be served with extra sprinkles and a side of miracles. From festive cocktails to nitrogen-chilled treats, we’ve got a couple of spots for you to check out. Deco’s serving up some sleigh-worthy sips and a seriously cool Grinch.

Raise a glass to good times and Christmas vibes! Because “The Dead Flamingo” is making spirits bright in Little Havana.

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “We have brought back our famous miracle on Calle Ocho. It’s basically like a holiday party in your family’s living room, but a little bit more fun.”

This place is totally decked out with festive decor, but it’s what’s happening at the bar that’ll really have you feeling holly jolly!

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “There’s about 20 holiday cocktails on the menu, so there’s something for everyone. They all come in decorated little mugs.”

Looking to get wild? You can’t go wrong with the Tequila-based “Koala La-La-La”

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “It has a little bit of vermouth, a little bit of tamarind. Very sweet, very refreshing.”

…Or the “Miracle Mouse.”

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “It’s a bourbon-based cocktail. It has vanilla and grapefruit. It is fruity but not intensely so.”

Wanna feel warm and fuzzy? Grab the “Coconut Hot Chocolate.” It’s got Jamaican rum, whipped cream, and comes in a Santa mug, and for those feeling extra adventurous…

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “The ‘Yippie Ki Yay’ is probably one of our most famous cocktails. It has an intense blend of rums and a little bit of Ube. This is the perfect cocktail for those who know that Die Hard is a Christmas movie.”

Spiked Rich Nitrogen Ice Cream is decking out its menu with some frosty treats in time for the holidays.

Jesse Saunders, owner: “We make all of our ice creams from scratch using liquid nitrogen. We handcraft all of our creations. We use only premium ingredients here, and we’re known for crazy wild concoctions and recipes. Christmas time is always our favorite time of year. We always have new and special flavors for a limited time, such as ‘Gingerbread Crisp’ and ‘Peppermint Chip’. Fun and crazy creations, and very Instagrammable and really tasty.”

And of course, being naughty is OK.

Jesse Saunders, owner: “You can add alcohol to anything. We have a specialty alcohol menu as well. Our Grinch is a really popular item right now, which is our mint chip with Irish cream. You can get it virgin if you like as well. You can get regular cups, or you can upgrade and get our souvenir jars like our light bulbs and our teddy bear shakes as well.”

Portions are plenty to spread holiday cheer.

Jesse Saunders, owner: “You can bring your loved one, or you can bring a school bus of people to help you finish them. But we do have them in different sizes.”

Miracle on Calle Ocho is happening now through December 27th. As for Spiked Rich, they have specials going all the time. Just check out their Insta at spikedrich.

Workout center helps de-stress Miami locals through exercise after the holidays https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/workout-center-helps-de-stress-miami-locals-through-exercise-after-the-holidays/ Wed, 17 Dec 2025 01:10:36 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1651636 It’s the most wonderful time of the year. But the holidays can be stressful! Thankfully, exercise is a great way to decompress and release those endorphins! Deco’s checking out a new spot that’ll get you back to feeling merry and bright.

Ed Sheeran (singing): “So kiss me under the mistletoe. Pour out the wine, let’s toast, and pray for December snow.”

They make it sound so easy. But in reality, the holidays can be kinda…

Talk about Christmas chaos! But have no fear. It’s easy to work off some of that stress!

At the new “Club Studio” at Miami Worldcenter, getting pumped up is part of the fun!

Nia Simmons: “This is the first Club Studio here in Florida, and we’re excited to show Miami what we’re all about.”

This new state-of-the-art facility is more than just a gym. It’s the ultimate spot for all things fitness and wellness.

Nia Simmons: “We have five boutique studio classes: Hit, boxing, cycle, yoga, reformer Pilates, which is super popular here in Miami. We also have a recovery lab.”

Nia Simmons: “If you wanna also step away from the studio rooms, we have a fully equipped fitness center.”

Wait a minute, did I hear boxing?! That sounds like the perfect way to pound out some of those holiday headaches.

Nia Simmons: “It’s a good way to build strength in your upper body and also your core. There are seven rounds on the bag and two rounds on the floor, and it kinda helps de-stress your day if you’re having a difficult day that day.”

Nothing says Yuletide like a sweat session. And a spin class is the key to shining brighter than that bulb you asked someone to change for the hundredth time. It’s okay, just pedal the pressure away.

Nia Simmons: “The music is loud, the lights are low.”

Nia Simmons: “Whether you take it at the beginning of the day at 5:05 am or at 7:30 at night, it’s gonna change your vibe.”

It’s not a proper de-stressing session without a little TLC. That’s where the recovery center comes in, which includes cryotherapy, red light therapy, and massage chairs. I feel better already just thinking about it.

Nia Simmons: “We all know the holidays are stressful. You’re trying to do a million things at once. Club Studio is that one-stop shop, whether you wanna work out stress in the fitness room, pamper yourself in recovery, or grab a protein shake for an energy boost.”

2 SoFlo spots are getting into the Christmas spirit with a fun run, DJ party https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/2-soflo-spots-are-getting-into-the-christmas-spirit-with-a-fun-run-dj-party/ Wed, 17 Dec 2025 01:06:11 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1651663 Hate to eat and run, but if you want to drink and run, that’s another story! We’ll even show you how!

Santa hats, jingle bells, and a whole lot of sweat are about to flood the streets of Fort Lauderdale. The Wharf Fort Lauderdale is gearing up for its third annual Jolly Jog.

Emi Guerra: “We embrace the holidays, and we decided to merge the two things together. The holidays and a nice spirited fun run.”

It’s a festive 5K run that takes the scenic holiday-lit route of downtown.

Emi Guerra: “We go along the new river of Fort Lauderdale. You get to see the water, you get to see the trees, it’s very safe, it’s well lit, everyone has a great time doing it.”

Don’t think you have to be Usain Bolt to join, this is for everyone!

Emi Guerra: “There’s runners, there’s joggers, there’s walkers, there’s something for all athletic classes. It’s really just meant to be what’s called a “fun run” where people could just have a good time.”

And after the run, the real fun begins.

Emi Guerra: “When you finish the run, and you end up back at the Wharf Fort Lauderdale, the party just starts. There is a ceremony for everyone to get their medal, and everyone gets a drink ticket. Everyone gets to mingle and hang out. It’s a nice time.”

If you live in the 305 and can’t make it to the wharf in Fort Lauderdale…

Emi Guerra: “Miami, we haven’t forgotten about you, and Coral Gables specifically, this one is for you.”

The Christmas pop-up has made its grand return to JohnMartin’s on Miracle Mile.

Emi Guerra: “Are you kidding me? This place is decorated insane! The second you walk in and turn the corner, you see tons of lights and lots of garland. Presents everywhere. It really is the epitome of Christmas spirit.”

The holiday spirit isn’t the only thing you’re getting.

Emi Guerra: “Aside from the over-the-top decor. We also have DJs. We have an incredible specialty on the cocktail menu that you must try. Come by the Christmas pop-up bar at JohnMartin’s; you can not miss it. It’s the best pop-up bar in Miami.”

The jolly jog takes place on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 7 pm.

Runners are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate.

Klaudie tells Deco how she went from walking the runway to making beats in the studio and DJ booth https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/klaudie-tells-deco-how-she-went-from-walking-the-runway-to-making-beats-in-the-studio-and-dj-booth/ Tue, 16 Dec 2025 02:40:18 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1651118 Ain’t no party like a SoFlo party. I mean, we do have a killer music scene in the 305. One example of that is Klaudie, a former model-turned-DJ and she’s definitely feeling the music!

Turn up the volume! Klaudie is making moves and dropping beats. She was born in the Czech Republic and got her start on the runway.

But these days, she’s turning heads in the studio and DJ booth. Klaudie’s been at it for about five years.

She tells Deco she taught herself after being introduced to house music.

Klaudie: “I completely fell in love with it, so afterwards I really wanted to learn. I did everything. I tried every morning. I was on the decks practicing and just educating myself about all of it. Eventually, I was like, ‘That’s it, no more modeling, this is it. I’m happy here.'”

Klaudie’s not just happy; She’s thriving!

She’ll be playing at Club Space on Dec. 19.

Tickets are available online.

Believe it or not, there’s an unbelievable Christmas experience lighting up Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah.

Well, I like it strange. Let’s go check out something weird.

I’m also in love with the food and the rides.

Up next? Hey, Santa.

Santa: “Steph, what is it that you would like for Christmas?”

I’m tired now, I’ve been riding rides all night, I’m going back to the station, see you guys later.”

An Italian restaurant in Broward offers authentic home cooking favorites and unique holiday drinks https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/an-italian-restaurant-in-broward-offers-authentic-home-cooking-favorites-and-unique-holiday-drinks/ Tue, 16 Dec 2025 01:21:29 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1651147 Everybody loves getting presents at the holidays. Hint, hint. Don’t worry — I’m sure something fabulous is coming your way.

An Italian restaurant in Broward is gifting you with a special holiday offer you can’t refuse.

Italian food at Christmas puts a smile on everybody’s face. At Anthony’s Runway 84 in Fort Lauderdale, the authentic home cooking will make you very happy.

Anthony Bruno: “This is more southern style, more of what we grew up with, my grandparents made, my mother obviously, and kinda what we know in this country as Italian food.”

The popular restaurant is packed every night. At this time of year, it’s basically bursting at the seams.

“Christmas is huge, yeah, Christmas is huge, you know, for everybody.”

Dinner at the runway always brings people together. But right now, it’s lunch that’s the big deal.

Anthony Bruno: “So we’re open every Friday during the year for power lunch. In December, we open up every day, Tuesday through Friday, power lunch from twelve o’clock, the kitchen goes on all day long.”

That means from noon to 4 p.m., you can feast like it’s supper time, even though the sun is shining.

Anthony Bruno: “The power menu is the regular menu; you can eat whatever you want. We have a few lunch specials also that we have on the power lunch.”

You have your pick of favorites from the old country. Chicken parmigiana, as big as an island. A pair of mighty meatballs, with a dollop of ricotta cheese. Shrimp oreganata, waiting patiently on the half-shell. And that old stand-by, rigatoni in tomato sauce.

Anthony Bruno: “If you can’t get here at night, come for power lunch.”

The bar is just as busy as the kitchen. They’re turning out seasonal cocktails, like “Winter Wonderland” and the “Gingerbread Old Fashioned.” Enjoy your drink, but you’ll never get as lit as the dining room.

Anthony Bruno: “We started with about $50,000 in decorations. We’ve been decorating since Nov. 2.”

Anthony’s is prepared to give you a Christmas lunch to remember.

Anthony Bruno: “We’ve been doing this for a long time, we put hospitality first, you know, we’re all over it.”

A forest of pink engulfs the Museum of Ice Cream during ‘Pinkmas’ with holiday drinks and unlimited ice cream https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/a-forest-of-pink-engulfs-the-museum-of-ice-cream-during-pinkmas-with-holiday-drinks-and-unlimited-ice-cream/ Tue, 16 Dec 2025 01:13:39 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1651146 Consider this the holy trinity of the holidays: pink, ice cream, and adult beverages. Deco’s Alex Miranda somehow fits that last one into every assignment. The Museum of Ice Cream is going full pink for “Pinkmas.”

South Florida isn’t really white during Christmas time, but at the Museum of Ice Cream in downtown Miami.

Piña Colada: “We do have 15,000 square feet of joy and immersive experience.”

It sure is pink during pink Miss through January 19,

Piña Colada: “We do have new interactions, a new photo station with a new winter wonderland background.”

Which is just as much fun for the grown-ups inside Donkey’s Diner.

Alex Miranda: “I didn’t know that you could get a martini at the Museum of Ice Cream. I was not aware.”

Piña Colada: “Yes, and this time of the year is going to be called the espresso maritini, which is delicious.”

You shouldn’t have coffee too late in the day. So I think one of these at breakfast time is appropriate.

Or how about some pomegranate boba with a sprinkling of cinnamon?

Alex Miranda: “This pomegranate bliss is quite blissful, if you know what I mean.”

And the ginger snaps the halls with a pumpkin spice rim.

It’s like Christmas meets cruise ship.

Piña Colada: “We will have, as well, tattoos that we offer to our visitors.”

Get a temporary tattoo from this little pile of festive options. Here we have a couple of candy canes.

Piña Colada: “I promise it will not remain forever, which is a lot of fun for everybody.”

Hold it for 15 to 20 seconds.

Oh, wait a minute…

Alex Miranda: “Do you actually eat ice cream here?”

Guest: “I love ice cream.”

Alex Miranda: “Which ice cream did you get?”

Guest: “The mint ice cream?”

Piña Colada: “You have unlimited ice cream on top of all those experiences.”

With a pink chocolate shell, and say, peppermint stick? On top of your favorite classic ice cream flavors.

[Alex tries the ice cream]

Alex Miranda: “Que rico!”

Piña Colada: “Ice cream is always a very good memory for all of us, and it brings us joy.”

Alex Miranda: “By unlimited, do you really mean unlimited?”

Piña Colada: “It is really unlimited.”

Alex Miranda: “Because I will take that to the ends of the earth.”

Alex Miranda: “This is Rudolph’s treat. It’s got vanilla soft serve on one side. You have cherry sorbet on the other. My two favorite things. That’s really good.”

And during that Sugar Rush, reflect on the reasons for the season.

Alex Miranda: “Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s, Toyotathon, Lexus, December to Remember.”

Pull out your coats and skates for a magical experience at inaugural Winter Wonderland in Homestead https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/pull-out-your-coats-and-skates-for-a-magical-experience-at-inaugural-winter-wonderland-in-homestead/ Sat, 13 Dec 2025 01:11:45 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1650444 There’s a coat hidden deep in the back of your closet just waiting for this day. A new winter attraction has just opened in Homestead and the city is buzzing. Deco’s Alex Miranda visited the wonderland ice rink to perfect his triple axel.

If you’re looking for some family fun this holiday season…

Vice Mayor Jenifer Bailey: “Homestead is where you need to be this December.”

The city is spreading holiday cheer with its first annual Winter Wonderland.

Jenifer Bailey: “Winter Wonderland is a beautiful concept that came to be in the City of Homestead, where we are offering different experiences for all of our residents to come and enjoy.”

The biggest draw? A real outdoor ice skating ring!

Jenifer Bailey: “We have the biggest ice skating rink in South Florida.”

Ice… in the Sunshine State? OK, we have to know how it works.

Jenifer Bailey: “Our ice rink is pretty magical, I’m not sure exactly how it works but I’m pretty sure that Santa Claus himself had something to do with it.”

Located in dead center Losner Park, the city’s vice mayor says it’s about time Homestead gets some love.

Jenifer Bailey: “It’s the first time, I think, that the deep south is really trying to make sure that we are seen and we are heard and this is an amazing representation of that.”

And people are loving it!

Guest: “This is pretty nice. I think it’s fun for the community, fun for the people.”

Guest: “We come to this park all the time. Losner Park is great. Great restaurants, great life, but an ice skating rink is unheard of!”

Best part: you don’t have to be a resident to take part in the fun.

Jenifer Bailey: “Winter Wonderland is especially for our Homestead residents, but it is also an opportunity for us to bring other people to our city.”

Tickets are $22 for adults and $11 for kids.

Winter Wonderland will be open through Jan. 18.

COO of Joe’s Stone Crab talks success of business, unique vibe of famous seafood restaurant https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/coo-of-joes-stone-crab-talks-success-of-business-unique-vibe-of-famous-seafood-restaurant/ Fri, 12 Dec 2025 01:27:41 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1650174 The restaurant scene in South Beach is always changing, but there’s been one constant go-to spot — Joe’s Stone Crab. After more than 100 years, the family-run eatery is more popular than ever. Steve Shapiro sat down with COO, Stephen Sawitz, to find out the secret to their success.

Steve Shapiro: “113 years! Where’d the time go? You look great, by the way.”

Stephen Sawitz: “Thank you, thank you. I was 50 then!”

How do you account for those 113 years?

Stephen Sawitz: “Well, I think a lot of work, a lot of love, great employees, and a family that’s committed to the business, and a great location, Miami Beach, Miami, and wonderful customers, and a phenomenal product.”

Joe’s Stone Crab has long been considered one of the most prestigious restaurants on Miami Beach. That didn’t happen by accident.

Stephen Sawitz: “A lot of work, a lot of tradition. My mom grew up in the business, and actually my grandfather grew up in the business ’cause his parents were the founders.”

Joe’s has a definite feel to it that’s unlike any other eatery in the area.

Steve Shapiro: “It’s counter to what the South Beach vibe is. How have you managed that balancing act over the years?”

Stephen Sawitz: “Well, we’re not trying to be new ’cause well we’re not, but we’re just trying to be who we are, and we have our vibe, our own.”

Joe’s brings in an awful lot of stone crabs to feed their fans.

Stephen Sawitz: “I’m gonna say going to poundage, I would say a good 250,000 pounds a year or more.”

Steve Shapiro: “Oh man!”

Plenty of work goes into getting these stone crabs to your plate. The process starts in the Gulf of Mexico.

Stephen Sawitz: “It takes a lot of people, a lot of hands to go from the Gulf.”

Hungry and happy diners can thank all the fishermen who catch, cook, and prepare the crabs, before ice-filled trucks bring them to Joe’s, where they’re sorted by size.

Stephen Sawitz: “And then we separate them between the mediums, the selects, the large, the jumbo, etc, and then we divvy them out to the different locations at the restaurant.”

Hard to believe, but man does not live by stone crabs alone.

Steve Shapiro: “This is a fabulous spot. You gotta eat other places. Are there other places on South Beach that you like to go to?”

Stephen Sawitz: “Well, my family and I love Cafe Avanti. We love that place, and we love the subs from Publix. Been to zeyzey’s. Wonderful restaurant in Miami.”

Steve Shapiro: “Now that I got my cool bib, I need a beer in a sippy cup, please.”

No visit to Joe’s is complete without treating yourself to you know, the desserts.

Steve Shapiro: “So after everybody finishes their gourmet meal, this is what puts it over the top.”

Jim Pastor, Executive Chef: “This is what it’s all about at the end, right? We have our classic key lime pie that’s gonna be forever what we’re known for.”

Steve Shapiro: “You don’t mind, do ya?”

Jim Pastor: “No, not at all.”

Steve Shapiro: “Hahaha!”

Jim Pastor: “And then we have… I love it. And then we have our new dessert. It’s a Bastille Guava Cheesecake.”

Apparently, everybody loves to eat at Joe’s Stone Crab.

Steve Shapiro: “Tell me the truth, Jim. Tell me the truth now. Are you back here sampling the goods?”

Jim Pastor: “I sample everything almost every day. That’s why I’m not a skinny chef.”

Daniel Craig returns as Benoit Blanc for his most dangerous case yet in ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/daniel-craig-returns-as-benoit-blanc-for-his-most-dangerous-case-yet-in-wake-up-dead-man-a-knives-out-mystery/ Fri, 12 Dec 2025 01:11:11 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1650164 Here’s a warning for all you bad guys: Daniel Craig is on the case. In “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” The actor returns as master detective Benoit Blanc. We got the skinny on the latest addition to the franchise that has us saying “hail Mary, full of grace!’

“Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” is the third go-round for Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc.

Daniel Craig: “Having a cast like this and having someone as brilliant as Rian Johnson writing and directing these films, it’s like an actor’s dream.”

Rian Johnson: “You always want to take, you know, your characters and have them butt up against the hardest thing for them and for Blanc, his biggest opposite would be that world of faith.”

The film’s biggest believer is pastor Jud, played by Josh O’Connor.

Josh O’Connor: “The priest is truly trying to be the best of what Christianity strives to be and then to have Blanc and him have to collaborate over the course of this, it seemed like a potent mixture.”

Glenn Close: “I think he has a quality that Jimmy Stewart had; I think he’s that everyman but he’s also personable and he plays people that you fall in love with.”

Apparently, the making of the film was one big love-fest.

Kerry Washington: “You feel like you’re on, like, an Olympic basketball team, like a dream team, you just want to make sure you’re, you know, getting the ball in the hoop, passing it to the right people and just doing your job.”

Cailee Spaeny: “I was so intimidated to be on the set with everybody but it’s, like, the kindest group of people and it starts at the top, it starts with Rian, it starts with Daniel.”

Mila Kunis: “The greatest gig on the planet. I love working in an ensemble. I only now want to work in giant ensembles but only with really awesome people like this.”

“Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” hits theaters this weekend.

Alex Miranda lights up the Deco holiday shrub at Deco International Plaza, signaling the start of the holiday season https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/alex-miranda-lights-up-the-deco-holiday-shrub-at-deco-international-plaza-signaling-the-start-of-the-holiday-season/ Fri, 12 Dec 2025 01:09:17 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1650171 The magical moment is here! The lighting of the Deco Drive holiday shrub! Alex is live at the Deco International Plaza in North Bay Village, officially kicking off the world’s holiday season.

Lynn, I know that you are feeling the way I am. This is such a meaningful moment, not only for you and me, who’ve been looking forward to it for months, but also for the entire South Florida community.

The lighting of the Deco holiday shrub. For many, this actually officially signifies the start of the holiday season, perhaps throughout the entire country. But before we get to that, we want to show you the journey this shrub took to become the icon it is today.

Ah, the holidays, that time of year when we gather with friends and family, exchange gifts, and decorate the Tree.

Deco’s has a long tradition of celebrating the season, not with a Christmas tree but with a holiday shrub.

The shrub has been a tradition for decades. While it may be small, its legacy stands tall in the annals of deco history.

The search for this year’s shrub takes us to the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade.

Alex Rodriguez-Roig /CEO: “The Boys and Girls Club has been in this community for almost 80 years, and we’re celebrating our 75th year of this Christmas tree tradition, so it’s a great time to be here.”

The perfect holiday shrub has four requirements. It has to have Miami flair, have to smell good, have no criminal record, and be cheap, like free.

To help us pick a shrub, we called on unlicensed arborist Cliff Maplewood, whose qualifications are unmatched.

Cliff Maplewood: “Well, I watched a bunch of YouTube videos, and I got this online diploma. That’s about it.”

Cliff browsed the rows of trees, carefully examining each for quality, smell, and that Miami “it” factor.

Cliff Maplewood: “How much is this?”

Alex Rodriguez-Roig: “$125.”

Cliff Maplewood: “Nope!”

Alex Rodriguez-Roig: “This is also a Frasier Fir.”

Cliff Maplewood: “And how much is this one?”

Alex Rodriguez-Roig: “$105.”

Cliff Maplewood: “I don’t think so.”

Then, after many hours of searching, it appeared.

Cliff Maplewood: “What about that one over there?”

Alex Rodriguez-Roig: “That thing over there? That’s garbage.”

And with that fateful transaction, the Deco holiday shrub began its long journey to its rightful home at Deco International Plaza.

Quite an amazing story. Now, let this shrub do what it’s here to do — shine!

So let’s light it up! 5,4,3,2, 1!

[Tree lights up]

Alex Miranda: “Lynn, what do you think?”

Lynn Martinez: “I think it’s absolutely beautiful, especially the umbrella and the British flag, and I love the dust and that it is free. So beautiful! Now, the holiday season has officially started.”

Deco serves up French fine dining and an Italian scratch kitchen at these SoFlo spots https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-serves-up-french-fine-dining-and-an-italian-scratch-kitchen-at-these-soflo-spots/ Thu, 11 Dec 2025 03:43:15 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649859 Deco’s serving up a double helping of deliciousness with two very different spots. From fine dining to a scratch kitchen, these foodie havens are feeding customers with next level talent. They’re celebrating art and providing great service down to the bone.

Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green in “Friends”: Decaf, cappuccino for Joey. Latte. And an ice tea. I’m getting pretty good at this.”

Like in the show “Friends,” great service is hard to find.

At the heart of Brickell, Claudie is summoning France’s attention to detail with dishes to share.

Michael de Carvalho: “Everybody in the south of France likes to eat, likes to share a meal. You want to order lots of dishes to have the choice to eat anything you’d like, whether it’s meat or fish.”

Their grilled whole fish is served to make sure you only eat the good stuff.

Michael de Carvalho: “We debone it tableside. We want to represent the service in the south of France, that’s why we do a lot of tableside. We also have some delicious pastas with caviar. And the famous snails that everyone loves or hates in France.”

Drinks here are very artsy.

Michael de Carvalho: “Each cocktail is linked to an artist. For example, we have the Eau de Coco, which is inspired by the Saint-Tropez City and also Coco Chanel.”

Guest: “The vibe is amazing. The service is amazing. Claudie is one of my favorite spots in Miami.”

Antonino’s in Hollywood is a 65-year-old spot and keeping up with the pizza tradition.

Hector Cruz: “This is a real homey pizzeria. When you come in, when people come in, they feel like they’re in their living room listening to music, watching TV, the news, whatever we may have on. We always have Channel 7 on.”

From “She Bangs” chicken wings to pastas, they’ve expanded their menu to also create pizza art.

Hector Cruz: “Bring me any type of action figure, cartoon, I can turn that into a pizza. Your logo for your business. Anything that has some type of character in it.”

What about a Deco Drive one?

Hector Cruz: “You don’t have 5 hours, it’s very intricate, it’s going to be this big and we’re gonna send it to Deco Drive. Everything here is fresh, it’s a scratch kitchen. If you do like good food and homemade, made to order, scratch food, this is the place to come because we do it with extra, extra, extra love.”

Guest: “It’s amazing. They have the best pizza in Hollywood for sure. And I’ve never seen a place that does sesame seed crust on their pizza and it’s fantastic.”

Antonino’s came through and made Deco our very own pizza. How a-dough-rable!.

Lele Pons joins the beloved Jim Henson characters for a new holiday special https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/lele-pons-joins-the-beloved-jim-henson-characters-for-a-new-holiday-special/ Thu, 11 Dec 2025 01:14:45 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649869 Let’s get ready to rock! Fraggle Rock, that is. The beloved Jim Henson characters are back with a new holiday special, and Miami’s own Lele Pons is joining in on the fun!

Lele Pons: “So you are a…”

Fraggle Rock: “Fraggle!”

Lele Pons: “Fraggle.”

Fraggle Rock: “Fraggle.”

Lele Pons: “Fraggle.”

Fraggle Rock: “Fraaaagle.”

Lele Pons: “Fraggle.”

Fraggle Rock: “Yeah!”

Lele Pons: “I like saying that. It’s fun to say.”

Fraggle. Fraggle. Fraggle.

Lele’s is right, that is fun to say! The social media superstar and singer is lending her voice and her wisdom to Gobo in “The First Snow of Fraggle Rock.”

She’s helping him find an inspo for his annual holiday song.

Deco caught up with Lele earlier to talk about the special and ask her about what signature Miami things she’d think would be fun to introduce to the Fraggle Rock world.

“LIV and jet-skis and boats. That’d be sick. Or a Bad Bunny concert. That’s super insane. They’d be like, Why is everybody acting so weird? What is that drink that they’re drinking? Nothing! It’s just water.”

We do love water, among other things, here in SoFlo.

“The First Snow of Fraggle Rock” is now streaming on Apple TV+.

Collectible company Wax Poetics places Mariah Carey’s first demo tape up for auction https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/collectible-company-wax-poetics-places-mariah-careys-first-demo-tape-up-for-auction/ Thu, 11 Dec 2025 01:01:51 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649863 She’s one of the greatest singers of all time! Mariah Carey is an international superstar who’s sold millions of records. Now the singer’s first demo tape is going up for auction—and there’s a South Florida connection.

Few artists can match the chart-topping power of Mariah Carey with back-to-back bangers like “Emotions,” “Vision of Love,” and “Fantasy.”

But before she became the ultimate pop diva, Mariah had to make a demo tape. Yes, kids, before Spotify, you had to listen to music on one of these things. Mariah’s old cassette features early versions of “Someday,” and “All in Your Mind.”

Now the tape is hitting the auction block.

Arthur Baker: “It’s a demo Mariah was shopping around before she had a record deal.”

Deco met up with producer Arthur Baker in Miami Shores. He was introduced to Mariah by R&B singer Brenda K. Star back in 1988.

Arthur Baker: “She said to me, ‘This is my background singer, and she’s got a great demo.’ We go to my edit room, put the cassette in, and it’s what we now know as Mariah Carey, the voice.”

Turns out there are unverified tapes that have been leaked on YouTube, like this one.

But Arthur’s tape is the real deal. Collectible company “Wax Poetics” is offering the cassette. Bidding is up to $23,000.

She has crazy fans, they like to collect her stuff, and this is one of a kind.

It could be the perfect stocking stuffer for the ultimate Mariah fan. They’ll just have to get one of these contraptions to play it.

The bidding ends at 3 p.m. on Thursday. To place yours, click here.

Laz Martino: “Yeah!”

Meet Laz Martino, a Miami native competing for $250,000 on tonight’s episode of “The Floor.”

Deco sat down with him to get some spoilers, but he wouldn’t budge. He did, however, give us a glowing review of his time on the show.

Laz Martino: “It was a fantastic experience. All of the wonderful people I got to meet and Rob Lowe is a really great guy. And just the whole experience of competing and its just a favorite show of mine, so it was just fantastic to actually be there.”

It would have been more fun if you told us you won!

Anyway, check out Laz on tonight’s episode of “The Floor” right here on Channel 7 at 8 p.m. after Deco Drive.

No doubt about it — Santa Claus will be here before we know it and there may be no finer way in honoring Saint Nick than eating his weight in ice cream. Alex Miranda has the scoop on the ice cream dream where snow is falling, bells are jingling and the nights are anything but silent at this Broward ice cream shop.

Michael Bublé singing “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”: “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”

Michael Bublé’s not lying.

At Cherry Smash in Coral Springs, Christmas is already underway.

Audrey Brooks: “It’s very magical, everything that you can imagine that has to do with Christmas.”

It’s a veritable winter wonderland, South Florida style.

Audrey Brooks: “It snows, there’s Christmas sundaes, there’s hot cocoa, there’s Santa, there’s the Grinch, everything you can even picture.”

You may have been here on a Christmas past. At the Smash, it’s all about Christmas present.

Audrey Brooks: “Every year, it’s different so every year we add more. So, it’ll always be different every time you come.”

The vibe of the place works because it’s a very personal presentation.

Audrey Brooks: “It’s a mix of Disney meets Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. It’s like a perfect magic.”

Everybody’s bound to love all the stuff inside the shop. But there’s only one real star of the show.

Audrey Brooks: “We love that it brings everybody together. We love the holidays but the ice cream’s obviously the best part.”

There’s a couple of new treats waiting for all you frozen dessert fans.

Audrey Brooks: “A hot cocoa float and then a Christmas sundae with our ‘Chimney Sweep’ ice cream.”

Santa doesn’t mind lending his head to the Christmas sundae. After all, it is his time of year.

And Snoopy’s happy to be filled up with hot cocoa, a scoop of peppermint bark ice cream and tasty toppings.

Audrey Brooks: “Everybody loves that one.”

Working in an ice cream store this time of year does have its perks.

Audrey Brooks: “All the girls get to vote whatever we love, we kind of get to create and make our favorites, and then if the customers love it, that’s what we go with.”

There’s no place just like Cherry Smash to kick off Christmas.

Audrey Brooks: “It’s everybody’s favorite, I mean, people come from so far away, from everywhere, just to see how magical it is ’cause everybody loves it.”

All the homemade ice cream is to die for at Cherry Smash. But here’s a little inside information.

All the ladies who work there say their favorite holiday flavor is “Chimney Sweep.” It’s got peppermint and Oreos.

Miami Beach, and live music! And it’s happening, because on Thursday, acclaimed jazz singer Nicole Henry is hitting the high notes! She gave Deco a little taste of what you can expect at her annual winter concert.

Nicole Henry is feeling the music and she’s ready to bring a little jazz and soul to the 305.

Nicole Henry: “It’s very meaningful and inspiring to me. My career started on Miami Beach, my full time singing career and acting.”

The singer is celebrating the spirit of the season with her annual winter concert, which has been going 12 years strong!

Nicole Henry: “It means a lot to me, one that I’m still doing what I love, which is singing. And two, that the community continues to support me. And it really has become like a reunion for me.”

This year’s show is called “Love: The Greatest Gift.” She tells Deco, she chose that name for a reason.

Nicole Henry: “I think love is the greatest gift. It’s free and it’s really a practice. It’s like a muscle. If we could just all love one another, I think all the problems of the world would be solved.”

Nicole Henry: “All the children of the world should be loving each other wholeheartedly.”

It’s all going down at the Miami Beach Bandshell for the first time. And that’s not the only thing that’s new.

Nicole Henry: “I decided to have a nine piece band, so that it could really feel like that festival, outdoor amphitheater feeling.”

Nicole will be playing various songs from across her career. But she’s also mixing it up!

Nicole’s even debuting her new single!

Nicole Henry: “My new original song is called is called ‘Everything Is Fine.’ and in the end, everything is fine. All’s well that ends well. And I have faith in this world, I have faith in the universe that all is going to end well.”

She also has faith that if you come to Thursday’s show, you’ll have a blast.

Nicole Henry: “People can expect fun. That’s what I always love to do. It’s gonna be me, just a little louder.”

Nicole’s “Love: The Greatest Gift” concert is going down on Thursday. And it’s more than a concert, It’s a fundraiser benefitting two South Florida organizations: Safeguarding American Values for Everyone and the Miami Music Project.

Music artist Shaggy makes a comeback with new album https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/music-artist-shaggy-makes-a-comeback-with-new-album/ Tue, 09 Dec 2025 03:20:21 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649145 Shaggy’s back with a full album, and he’s feeling lucky.

His new single “Boom Body” is out and cashing in big with the fans.

Shaggy: “Everybody just throw your hands in the air and wave it like you don’t care.”

Mister Boombastic a-k-a. Shaggy loves to hype up the people.

But hyping himself up to drop a new album took some time.

Shaggy: “I haven’t put out a solo Shaggy album out in six years. I did some projects, side projects. I did Sinatra in Reggae, Me and Sting.”

Shaggy: “You should tell that story. I was gonna. I was about to start, and then you interrupted me as usual.”

Shaggy: “Ok.”

Sting: “So about three years ago.”

Shaggy: “I just want to make sure you said it correctly.”

Sting: “Can I start now?”

Shaggy: “Ok, yeah.”

Shaggy: “It’s nice when you get Sting singing dancehall, so it’s good.”

Shaggy: “He loves doing dancehall. He loves doing Reggae. He’s really big in the culture. Not a lot of people know that some of his biggest songs were written in Jamaica.”

Shaggy: “And I did a Soca EP with me and Kes and a bunch of us. And so I just wanted to do a full Shaggy one, you know.”

“Lottery” is due out in March with exciting collabs including his bestie, Sting. For the reggae star, timing is everything.

Shaggy: “But a full-length album, you know, I wasn’t in a place where I wanted to do it. Except now I’m happy with what I came up with. Got songs with me and Jeremiah, I got songs with me and Robin Thicke. Songs with Anthony Hamilton and me. Of course, the single with me, Akon, and Aidonia.”

“Boombody” is the first single from the record.

Lisa Scott-Founds: “The number one live event in the entire state of Florida. It is a million people that are coming out to our shores.”

Karla Nelson-Thatcher: “54 years in the making. We don’t have snow but we do have an ice bar and we have boats and lights, a parade down the Intracoastal, couldn’t be anymore quintessentially South Florida.”

But this past Saturday, at the Hard Rock itself, was the Winterfest Black Tie Ball, supporting the parade and Broward County community.

David Hoenemeyer: “It’s the most exciting place in all of South Florida. 22 years we’ve been proud sponsors. It truly is the social event of the year.”

Hosted by yours truly.

Alex: “We are not only here at the Winterfest Black Tie Ball, apparently you and I are doing a number. We’re performing on top of this platform.”

With a Studio 54 theme.

Susan Renneisen: “When it was 54 years, we’re like, ‘Oh, my god, we have to do it up big.'”

David Hoenemeyer: “I went there once when I was like 22-years-old.

Susan Renneisen: “Stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.”

Alex: “Stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.”

Alex: “So are we bringing it back here at the Hard Rock?

David Hoenemeyer: “Hang around long enough and you’ll see.”

Susan Renneisen: “We don’t have to do it.”

Alex: “Keep going up, all of you.”

Susan Renneisen: “Alex, you are not that old.”

Alex: “The party has not even started yet. We’re in one of two lounges. Take a look at how glamorous this is.”

Lisa Scott-Founds: “We’ve got Midtown 254 because that was the address of the original Studio 54.”

Partygoer: “It’s so much fun, the glitter is fabulous.”

Lisa Scott-Founds: “And then we’ve got the red lounge, which is all in red neon.”

Partygoer: “Beautiful party. Love to be here.”

Lisa Scott-Founds: “There are lasers and disco balls and everything you can imagine.”

Partygoer: “Beautiful. Everything is stunning and amazing. It’s disco!”

David Boothe: “We’re excited, you know, the holidays are starting, we’re doing some ice loo shots.”

Partygoer: “Who throws a better party than the Hard Rock?”

Alex: “I see how many disco balls above your head, like 500?”

Bo Guidry: “We should start dancing now. Let’s do it.”

Alex: “Don’t challenge me. Three, two…”

It’s all presented by Broward Health.

Shane Strum: “Broward Health loves Winterfest. We love our community. We continue to give back every way we can.”

With local businesses, including Dowd’s Fine Jewelry.

Patrick Daoud: “I had a woman that came up to me earlier, and she said to me, ‘I love being given any piece of jewelry that begins with the letter A, like a Rolex, a Emerald.'”

Lending their helping hand.

Patrick Daoud: “Rose gold, 40 millimeter chocolate dial. It’s a really unique piece.”

Alex: “Nice, so thank you so much for this donation. I really appreciate it. It’ll be great tonight. Thank you. Bye. We’re friends, right?”

Do you think he remembers that? I’m not going to remind him.

Anyway, the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade takes place Saturday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the best viewing area are still available at winterfestparade.com.

Miami Beach’s ‘No Vacancy’ art competition returns with a months-long showcase throughout hotel lobbies https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/miami-beachs-no-vacancy-art-competition-returns-with-a-months-long-showcase-throughout-hotel-lobbies/ Tue, 09 Dec 2025 03:10:17 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649190 Art week is over, but Miami Beach isn’t done showing off. The city’s “No Vacancy” art competition is back, turning hotel lobbies into pop-up art spaces for a month-long showcase.

If you see a “No Vacancy” sign in Miami Beach this month. It might be a sign that the art has moved in.

The competitive Miami Beach art program is back for its sixth year!

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “No vacancy, Miami Beach is a temporary public art program by the city of Miami Beach. It’s a wonderful way that the city is able to showcase the two industries that we are known for, which are tourism and arts and culture.”

Twelve hotels across the Art Deco playground will boast art crafted by local artists, and that includes all kinds of expression:

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “You’re seeing anything from sculptures to video to painting, photography.”

She’s right.

You’ll be orbed into an artist dream when you check out “LIZN’BOW” latest creation at the betsy hotel.

Bow Ty: “All of our projects and all the things we worked on over the years, we’re creating all this digital art and media. We started bringing all these things together in this broader multiverse.”

Liz Ferrer: “Universe! The orb, the piece on the orb, has a little bit of everything.”

Like…

Liz Ferrer: “We have like a large inflatable that’s a unicorn cow on a jetski, for example.”

Bow Ty: “Yeah, you’ll see Liz’s grandma, her abuela.”

Liz Ferrer: “My grandma’s in it.”

Bow Ty: “riding a bicycle through the air.”

And they had to put the 305 in there.

Liz Ferrer: “You’ll also see that Miami’s in it. It’s a little bit submerged underwater, so we’re also talking about climate change in it.”

When you hit the Rivera suites, you’re gonna wanna think pink. “Heartware” by Artist Fabiola Larios suspends from the hotel entryway!

Fabiola Larios: “I think it’s a great opportunity and I love how they give us spaces to work and put out our art.”

And just a few blocks over at the Shelborne by Proper, you’ll find interactive artwork by Lee Pivnik.

Lee Pivnik: “We’re looking at my installation called Wellspring, and it’s a look into my practice, which spans video, sculpture, and sci-fi storytelling.”

Grab some headphones: You will need them!

Lee Pivnik: “It’s about a 4-minute video. It’s from the point of view of an octopus that’s kind of lying in a tidepool, and someone comes and pokes at it, and it jumps out on the land and starts becoming different people.”

This isn’t just for show – there’s real money on the line.

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “No vacancy, Miami Beach has two prizes. It has a juror’s prize, and it has a people’s choice, so the total is 35 thousand dollars in prizes that these artists are up for each year.”

Liz Ferrer: “If you show us you voted for us, we’ll get you a free bow.”

Bow Ty: “Like one of these.”

Liz Ferrer: “We’ll buy 500 bows, we’ll pass them out. We’ll be here in the alley, and we’ll eat some pizza. Bada bing bada boom.”

“No Vacancy” will be on display at the hotels until Dec. 20, which means it is still time to vote for your favorite artist.
