From fireworks on the beach, in a garden or at an amusement park, Deco is showing you the best places to say hello to 2026.

If you’re looking to start 2026 with a bang, then Ocean Drive is calling.

When the clock strikes 12 this New Year’s Eve, Lummus Park will be your front-row seat to one of Miami’s biggest firework shows.

Jonathan Plutzik: “The great thing about the firework celebration on New Year’s Eve is, it’s so significant. You can almost stand anywhere here on Ocean Drive and take it in.”

Take in the amazing views while sitting on the beach or dine at one of the open-air restaurants.

Jonathan Plutzik: “All of the restaurants have extended into the street, serving not only there normal menus, but actually a special taste of Ocean Drive menu, it’s really a wonderful way to take in the new year.”

But that’s not all. The fun continues on New Year’s Day.

Jonathan Plutzik: “And every year on New Year’s Day, we celebrate the new year with a full orchestra concert by the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival.”

For families who don’t want to wait until midnight, Christmas Wonderland in Tropical Park will be ringing in the new year a bit earlier.

Tony Albelo: “We call it ‘New Year’s at Nine,’ where we are going to have a full-blown New Year’s Eve experience, but instead of the countdown happening at midnight, it’s going to happen at 9.”

Fireworks will light up the night sky at 9 p.m., just as it would for any New Year’s Eve party.

Tony Albelo: “In addition to that, we have a big confetti storm that’s going to happen by the main stage, we have a dance party. We’re having a DJ on the stage, and the DJ is going to be playing top hits.”

This family fun won’t break the bank, either.

Tony Albelo: “‘New Year’s at Nine’ costs nothing extra. You come to Christmas Wonderland with your regular ticket, you’re going to get the party favors, you are going to get the dance party, firework show is going to happen, confetti is going to happen. Everything that’s going to happen is all included in your ticket.”

“Lit” would be the best word to describe New Year’s Eve at Fairchild Botanical’s NightGarden.

Daniel Wu: “If you never been here before on New Year’s Eve, you’re in for a treat.”

The twinkling forest will also be bursting with fireworks at 9 p.m.

Daniel Wu: “We are a family-friendly event — great for all ages, everything for family to date nights. And we chose 9 o’clock so that everyone can attend and you have a chance to go for after parties. We have food, we have drinks, we have music and all of the lights and the fireworks you have come to expect from us.”

Miami Beach’s ‘No Vacancy’ art competition returns with a months-long showcase throughout hotel lobbies https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/miami-beachs-no-vacancy-art-competition-returns-with-a-months-long-showcase-throughout-hotel-lobbies/ Tue, 09 Dec 2025 03:10:17 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649190 Art week is over, but Miami Beach isn’t done showing off. The city’s “No Vacancy” art competition is back, turning hotel lobbies into pop-up art spaces for a month-long showcase.

If you see a “No Vacancy” sign in Miami Beach this month. It might be a sign that the art has moved in.

The competitive Miami Beach art program is back for its sixth year!

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “No vacancy, Miami Beach is a temporary public art program by the city of Miami Beach. It’s a wonderful way that the city is able to showcase the two industries that we are known for, which are tourism and arts and culture.”

Twelve hotels across the Art Deco playground will boast art crafted by local artists, and that includes all kinds of expression:

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “You’re seeing anything from sculptures to video to painting, photography.”

She’s right.

You’ll be orbed into an artist dream when you check out “LIZN’BOW” latest creation at the betsy hotel.

Bow Ty: “All of our projects and all the things we worked on over the years, we’re creating all this digital art and media. We started bringing all these things together in this broader multiverse.”

Liz Ferrer: “Universe! The orb, the piece on the orb, has a little bit of everything.”

Like…

Liz Ferrer: “We have like a large inflatable that’s a unicorn cow on a jetski, for example.”

Bow Ty: “Yeah, you’ll see Liz’s grandma, her abuela.”

Liz Ferrer: “My grandma’s in it.”

Bow Ty: “riding a bicycle through the air.”

And they had to put the 305 in there.

Liz Ferrer: “You’ll also see that Miami’s in it. It’s a little bit submerged underwater, so we’re also talking about climate change in it.”

When you hit the Rivera suites, you’re gonna wanna think pink. “Heartware” by Artist Fabiola Larios suspends from the hotel entryway!

Fabiola Larios: “I think it’s a great opportunity and I love how they give us spaces to work and put out our art.”

And just a few blocks over at the Shelborne by Proper, you’ll find interactive artwork by Lee Pivnik.

Lee Pivnik: “We’re looking at my installation called Wellspring, and it’s a look into my practice, which spans video, sculpture, and sci-fi storytelling.”

Grab some headphones: You will need them!

Lee Pivnik: “It’s about a 4-minute video. It’s from the point of view of an octopus that’s kind of lying in a tidepool, and someone comes and pokes at it, and it jumps out on the land and starts becoming different people.”

This isn’t just for show – there’s real money on the line.

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “No vacancy, Miami Beach has two prizes. It has a juror’s prize, and it has a people’s choice, so the total is 35 thousand dollars in prizes that these artists are up for each year.”

Liz Ferrer: “If you show us you voted for us, we’ll get you a free bow.”

Bow Ty: “Like one of these.”

Liz Ferrer: “We’ll buy 500 bows, we’ll pass them out. We’ll be here in the alley, and we’ll eat some pizza. Bada bing bada boom.”

“No Vacancy” will be on display at the hotels until Dec. 20, which means it is still time to vote for your favorite artist.

Also, Fox’s “Next Level Baker” is serving up the sweet treats with some festive twists.

Gordon Ramsay: “Everyone says our kitchen is intimidating, so let’s feel the kitchen with some holiday cheer. On the count of three, 1, 2, 3, let’s go!”

If the set looks familiar, it should! Think “Next Level Chef” — but all about holiday desserts.

Twelve lucky bakers are going head-to-head for a $25,000 cash prize.

Judges Carla Hall and Candace Nelson told Deco — they’re not just watching, they’re jumping right in!

Candace Nelson: “We get a chance to get our hands dirty and really coach these bakers. Get the backstory of why they are making what they are making. And help them find things when they can’t find things in the kitchen. So it’s very hands-on.”

Carla Hall: “For me, when I eat something really good as a judge, I have two words: DB. Doggy bag! I want some more, and I want to take it to the hotel.”

‘It’s Florida, Man.’ creator Jeff Tomsic joins Deco ahead of Season 2 debut https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/its-florida-man-creator-jeff-tomsic-joins-deco-ahead-of-season-2-debut/ Fri, 28 Nov 2025 00:31:35 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1646123 If you’ve ever wondered what happens when real Florida headlines become TV, buckle up. HBO’s hit comedy “It’s Florida, Man.” is back, and let’s just say the chaos did not calm down — from unbelievable run-ins to the kind of trouble only Floridians could find. The show’s creator sat down with Deco and warmed us up for the wild ride.

If you think a story is too ridiculous to be true, it probably happened right here in Florida.

Interview Subject in “It’s Florida, Man”: “I’m living the state motto, ‘come here on vacation, stay on probation.'”

The HBO original comedy “It’s Florida, Man.” is back for Season 2.

Interview Subject in “It’s Florida, Man”: “There ain’t no telling what might go down!”

Deco sat down with the show’s creator, director and executive producer, Jeff Tomsic, to find out what’s in store for the new season.

Jeff Tomsic: “First season we were chasing after headlines, and this season we have asked people to submit their own stories, so every story this season was volunteered to us.”

And these stories are just as wild.

Jeff Tomsic: “There’s a guy in our second episode that did way too many drugs and ended up trapped in a Little Caesars Pizza and getting arrested.”

Sure, these true accounts are meant to make you laugh, but they can also double as self-help.

Jeff Tomsic: “He wanted to tell that story because he got over his drug problem, and being embarrassed this badly was the rock bottom he had to hit to make a big change.”

Season 2 brings, big names like Tiffany Haddish, Johnny Knoxville and Adam Devine to reenact these crazy stories.

Jeff Tomsic: “I knew that I wanted certain people in the show, and I was just hoping it aligned with who the real characters were. For Johnny Knoxville and Tiffany, I kind of invented roles for them that wasn’t necessarily big parts of the real story.”

Jeff says the show is not meant to make fun of Florida, but actually to pay homage.

Jeff Tomsic: “I’m always looking for a hopeful story. I want to make this a love letter to Florida, so I don’t want this to make you feel worse about yourself or about Florida after you watch.”

Season 2 of “It’s Florida, Man.” premieres on HBO and HBO Max this Friday.

But can we actually name that tune?

One Miami contestant is buzzing in fast on Monday night’s episode of “Name That Tune” and he’s hoping the music gods are on his side!

Meet Jamar Germain, Miami native and master of “trusting your gut.”

He told Deco he’s not overthinking when he’s up against the competition, and that strategy might’ve paid off.

Jamar Germain: “Honestly, you just got to trust in your musical skills that you had over x amount of time. I think if you try to sit there and prepare too much, causing yourself either a migraine or some type of analysis paralysis. You got to just kind of be confident in what you know already, and what you don’t know, you don’t know.”

Well, did he know his stuff?

Immerse yourself in a tropical world of thrills and holiday cheer at Christmas Wonderland https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/immerse-yourself-in-a-tropical-world-of-thrills-and-holiday-cheer-at-christmas-wonderland/ Thu, 13 Nov 2025 02:48:14 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1641631 If you couldn’t already tell by the temperature drop, the holiday season is here. Time for toys — and time for cheer. It’s also time to ride rides until you barf! Christmas Wonderland is back for its third year at Tropical Park, and this time, it’s bigger, brighter and more festive.

The most wonderful time of the year means it’s time to head to Christmas Wonderland at Tropical Park.

Tony Albelo: “Christmas Wonderland is a family-friendly place where you can come and really enjoy everything that has to do with Christmas.”

Don’t let the Miami sunshine fool you. On Nov. 13, the park will transform into a whimsical wonderland with holiday cheer at every turn.

Tony Albelo: “Just because we don’t have the snow doesn’t mean we don’t have the Christmas spirit. Christmas is everywhere in Miami.”

From photo ops with Santa Claus to millions of twinkling lights and a 65-foot tree. It’s basically an adventurous north pole!

Tony Albelo: “We have over 50 rides from all different levels, from kiddie rides to thrill rides. We have three different roller coasters.”

Santa himself is even getting in on the thrill with “Santa’s Sky Shot.” No reindeers required!

Tony Albelo: “Imagine Santa is late for some deliveries and he loads himself inside a cannon and he shoots himself across the midway, over rides and lands on the other side of the midway.”

You can’t celebrate the holidays without food!

Tony Albelo: “We have all kinds of foods, from everything you’d find at Miami’s best food trucks all the way to the guilty pleasures of carnival food.”

And when the sun goes down, the sky lights up.

Tony Albelo: “Every Friday at 10 o’clock, we have a fireworks show. So when you’re in the park and it’s 10 o’clock, just look up.”

Through the season, the wonderland will feature specialty themed nights like single night and ugly sweater nights.

Tony Albelo: “We also have another new night that we are introducing this year, which is the “World’s Largest Noche Buena Party,” with drink specials, a live Cuban band and everything.”

Whether you’re looking for festive fun or the perfect holiday photo, Christmas Wonderland is the place to be.

Tony Albelo: “Really, there is something for everybody, and that makes it so popular and so big.”

Christmas Wonderland opens Nov. 13 and runs until Jan. 4.

Copper 29 in Coral Gables rolls the dice on fun with cocktails, food and a discount on your tab https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/copper-29-in-coral-gables-rolls-the-dice-on-fun-with-cocktails-food-and-a-discount-on-your-tab/ Thu, 13 Nov 2025 01:18:12 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1641639 Feeling lucky? Well, you might not have to wait until the weekend to test your odds. One Coral Gables bar is turning Thursday nights into “a game of chance”. We’re talking cocktails, good food, and a grand ol’ time.

At Copper 29, Thursdays are no longer just the day before Friday.. It’s your lucky night.

The Coral Gables bar is rolling the dice on fun, with its new activation “Lucky Thursdays”.

Willy Vargas: “Lucky Thursdays is an opportunity to have a good discount on your tab.”

He’s being modest; it’s an excellent discount! Guests pick a number, roll the dice, and if luck’s on their side, they score 50 percent off their tab.

Willy Vargas: “It’s going to be one hit (roll) per tab. If you have three tabs, you can hit three times”

And with cocktails that hit and bites that don’t miss, 50% off goes a long way.

Willy Vargas: “We have really good cocktails and really good food. For example, we have the Green Zen, which is basically cucumber and Tito’s Vodka. It’s a refreshing cocktail.”

Other standouts include the Smoke in the Garden, made with mescal, and the peach tiki punch.

Now on to the food.

Willy Vargas: “One of the best sellers we have is the Barbecue Chicken Flatbread, and then we have our pork sliders and they are like really appetizing.”

The fun doesn’t stop there. The bar also brings in a live DJ and hosts other specialty nights throughout the week.

So you have a great time, while you slice your tab in half. Party on!

Willy Vargas: “You know it’s a place to party, to have fun, to enjoy with your family, your friends. We have fun here.”

The holiday lights at NightGarden are in full bloom for a fairy scavenger hunt and merry movie nights https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/the-holiday-lights-at-nightgarden-are-in-full-bloom-for-a-fairy-scavenger-hunt-and-merry-movie-nights/ Tue, 11 Nov 2025 03:01:51 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1640980 Miami’s about to get lit for the holidays, and we’re not talking about a party. We’re talking about a whole garden that glows, sparkles and shines all season long. The NightGarden in Coral Gables is back and it’s brighter than ever.

When the sun sets over Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, the magic begins.

NightGarden, a wonderland display of lights, has returned for its seventh year.

Daniel Wu: “What people have come to expect, is an illuminated night of magical fairytales.”

And that’s just what you’ll get.

From a talking tree to an all-out fairy scavenger hunt in the forest.

Daniel Wu: “It’s called ‘The Fairy Scope.’ You can use your mobile phone and you go around the entire 23 acres of the NightGarden. You’re exploring. If you find them all, you can go to our merch shop and spin the prize wheel.”

And when you make your way to the merch shop, you might just spot something a little mischievous.

Daniel Wu: “We have Labubus, which is the biggest thing in the world right now. And they actually live in the forest.”

The little guys aren’t the only thing new this year.

Daniel Wu: “This year, we have a secret garden laser show, which we’ve never done before for NightGarden, so we are excited to bring that on.”

Daniel Wu: “Another new activity we are introducing to NightGarden this year is a movie night, where you can grab hot chocolate, popcorn, ice cream, milkshake, you name it, and have a nice night out under the stars.”

But if you’d much rather just roam the garden, there’s more than enough space for that too.

Daniel Wu: “We have a rainforest that you’ll walk in and it’s just sensory overload. It’s just amazing with the music in the background, you feel like you’re on a movie set.”

As the lights come alive, so does the holiday spirit.

Daniel Wu: “This is like the perfect night out for the entire family during the season.”

NightGarden is open now through Jan. 11.

SoFlo artist designs Godzilla-themed beer cans to celebrate the ‘King of All Monsters’ turning 70 https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/soflo-artist-designs-godzilla-themed-beer-cans-to-celebrate-the-king-of-all-monsters-turning-70/ Fri, 07 Nov 2025 01:08:40 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1639045 When it comes to icons, this one takes a serious bite. Godzilla is turning 70 and he’s celebrating in the most refreshing way possible. Deco caught up with a local artist who’s helping honor the monster legend one can at at time.

Godzilla is roaring its way into a new decade.

The giant lizard is turning 70 and is celebrating with a cold one.

To honor this monstrous milestone, beer company Pabst Blue Ribbon has tapped Miami artist “Attack Peter” to design Godzilla-themed cans!

Attack Peter: “I’m extra proud about it because I was recommended to [Pabst Blue Ribbon] by Toho, the company who owns Godzilla. So it’s a huge honor in that respect.”

Sixty million cans nationwide will boast Peter’s hand-carved designs of Godzilla and three other Japanese monsters.

Attack Peter: “When I was asked to design these cans, I knew what I wanted to do was convey Godzilla front and center, easy to see. I wanted someone to go, ‘What is that?’ and walk up to it and grab it.”

Each design was made using his signature linoleum block prints.

Attack Peter: “What that mean is, essentially, I draw an image on a piece of linoleum. I carve that image out, like making a giant stamp. I roll ink on that carving and press paper on to it.”

For Peter, this gargantuan collab is a full circle moment.

Attack Peter: “I can’t even remember a toy I had before my Godzilla toy. I would carry him everywhere, I would draw Godzilla destroying everything and watch the movies when I was a kid, so yeah, Godzilla has always been a part of my life.”

Amazónico brings wild flavors tableside in 305’s hot jungle-themed restaurant https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/amazonico-brings-wild-flavors-tableside-in-305s-hot-jungle-themed-restaurant/ Thu, 06 Nov 2025 02:45:44 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1638711 Miami’s always been known for its nightlife, but this next spot takes it deeper into the wild. We’re talking tropical vibes, bold flavors and a party straight out of the jungle. Deco’s stepping inside the hot, new restaurant that’s bringing a whole new adventure to the 305.

In the middle of the Magic City, a jungle has emerged.

Welcome to Amazónico, Miami’s newest hotspot for fine Latin cuisine and partying.

David McIntyre: “We are a multi-sensory experience with live entertainment seven nights a week.”

With live bands, DJs and a wild Amazon vibe, this place is massive, and every corner has its own energy.

David McIntyre: “Amazónico is about 26,000 feet inside and out. You can move from one space to the other very fluidly.”

The fun doesn’t stop at the music.

David McIntyre: “Food is a part of our entertainment here and we prepare a lot of our dishes tableside.”

Like this whole-grilled branzino, a master class of deboning it is done right in front of you!

David McIntyre: “Part of our celebration of the food is the interaction that the whole table has with those dishes. The way that we present them is as important as the flavors themselves.”

Other menu standouts include the guacamole served with sea urchins and plantains and the Hamachi tiradito.

The drinks are just as entertaining.

David McIntyre: “I’d be doing the bar an enormous disservice if I didn’t talk about our signature cocktails. We have the peacock spritz, which is a deliciously fruity and refreshing spritz drink with soda and white wine, and our Monkey Business Cocktail, which is served inside a monkey head.”

The rainforest atmosphere already has guests hooked.

Guest: “The experience here has been wonderful. The food is great, the ambiance is a wonderful place to be. Great service, awesome cocktails.”

Robin Hood returns in a new series on MGM+ which reimagines the classic legend https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/robin-hood-returns-in-a-new-series-on-mgm-which-reimagines-the-classic-legend/ Fri, 31 Oct 2025 19:49:22 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1636836 Think you know the story of Robin Hood? Think again. A bold new series coming to MGM+ is re-imagining the classic legend, and this Robin has an edge.

Jack Patten (as Robin Hood): “They rob us of our coin and call it the law. They kill our people and call it justice, and yet they call us thieves then let us be thieves with a purpose.”

In this fresh new take. Robin Hood, played by Australian actor Jack Patten, teams up with some unlikely friends to fight back against royal corruption, and while that seems heavy, the cast told Deco behind the scenes — it was nothing but fun.

Lauren McQueen: “We got along so well when we first met, which was like such a relief because imagine if we didn’t like each other, that would have been awkward.”

Jack Patten: “Yeah, it was a ton of fun. I think we had a really healthy balance of taking the work seriously but not taking ourselves too seriously.”

Catch the two-episode premiere of Robin Hood this Sunday, Nov. 2, on MGM+.

SOBEWFF honors SoFlo chef to celebrate upcoming 25th anniversary https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/sobewff-honors-soflo-chef-to-celebrate-upcoming-25th-anniversary/ Fri, 31 Oct 2025 01:42:52 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1636639 South Beach Wine and Food Festival is turning 25! Which means it’s now old enough to rent a car! We’re still a few months out, but we can’t take the anticipation. So, Deco’s giving you a sneak peek to hold you over until then.

South Beach Wine and Food Festival is hitting a major milestone.

Bobby Flay: “It’s the 25th year next year. It’s a big one.”

A big one indeed! And it’s a celebration the festival doesn’t take lightly.

Andrea Moreno: “What that means to us is we are continuing to help develop the future leaders of the hospitality industry.”

For a quarter of a century, the hot ticket event has been serving up good food and good deeds.

Andrea Moreno: “Many people aren’t aware but the South Beach Wine and Food Festival benefits the Chaplin School of Hospitality Management at FIU.”

The school isn’t the only local establishment benefitting.

Andrea Moreno: “Yes, we have those world renowned chefs that we bring in and Food Network talent that helps us host our events but the backbone of this festival is local Miami restaurants.”

And for the first time ever, a local chef is next year’s tribute dinner honoree.

Andrea Moreno: “This year, we are so excited to be honoring Michelle Bernstein. She’s been a part of the festival since its inception.”

Deco caught up with Michelle at her restaurant, Sra. Martinez, and got a glimpse of the food that earned her the nod.

Michelle Bernstein: “I mean who would have thought, you know, I came to work in a kitchen, I did it because I was a little bit shy and I loved food. And now I get to go to these events that have over 500 people in them”

She’s also bringing some heat to the event.

Michelle Bernstein: “I have asked Bobby Flay, who is a dear friend, to emcee the event and he actually said ‘Yes.'”

Since she’s the honoree, Michelle won’t be cooking at the event. Instead, she’s sharing her favorite dishes and what she loves to serve in her own restaurant

Michelle Bernstein: “First of all, when you come here you got to go straight to the bar and have one of our cocktails. When you sit down for dinner, I suggest you start with the chicken liver moose with donuts.”

But you can’t leave without trying the oxtail.

Michelle Bernstein: “I do this combination of, like, the island flavor of oxtail stew with the Latin flavor of rabo encendido and put it into a paella.”

The South Beach Wine and Food Festival goes down in February. Ticket sales for the event begin Monday, Nov. 3.

[Woman yells in horror]

No, not that kind of dead. More like this.

Magena Caballero: “‘Day of the Dead’ celebration or ‘Dia de los Muertos” celebration, or really “event” is a celebration of life, it’s a day the dead come to reunite with their love ones.”

And CityPlace Doral is going all out to make sure this reunion is one to remember

Magena Caballero: “For over two weeks we are going to have the center decorated papel picado hanging from the boulevard and the plaza. We are going to have larger than life sugar skulls or ‘calaveras’ adorn with bright Marigold flowers.”

The decorations is just half of the celebration, the real fun goes down on Nov. 1.

Magena Caballero: “So on Nov. 1, which is a Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., we will have the actual ‘Day of the Dead’ event, it’s a completely free event. Magena Caballero: “This year we’ve invited local comedian Rafael Leidenz also know as “El BruJodedor” and he’ll be doing his impersonation of Juan Gabriel”

Queen Miami Beach transforms into a dark kingdom for a Halloween experience https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/queen-miami-beach-transforms-into-a-dark-kingdom-for-a-halloween-experience/ Fri, 24 Oct 2025 02:24:18 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1635038 When it comes to Halloween, Queen Miami Beach isn’t just throwing a party. They’re crowning chaos. The iconic Paris Theater is getting a darkly glamorous makeover for its annual spooktacular. Deco got a preview of what frights and fantasies await you.

When you mix regality and chaos, the result is pure royal anarchy.

Queen Miami Beach is transforming its iconic Paris Theater into a dark, glamorous kingdom for its Halloween spectacular.

Sebastiano Di Meo: “When it comes to Halloween, Queen does it big.”

And this Halloween is no different. From aerialists soaring above the tables to dancers and dark, mysterious creatures moving through the crowd, this restaurant isn’t holding back.

Sebastiano Di Meo “Basically, while you dine, you are transported into this journey. This journey is divided into different parts of the night. From the moment you step in, you are welcome to this world.”

This year’s theme is Royal Anarchy: A Tale of Twisted Beasts.”

Sebastiano Di Meo: “Royal anarchy is a battle between power and ambition. We invite our guests to see the crown secrets on display for a night.”

We caught a sneak peek of the dinner show at the dress rehearsal – and it’s as mesmerizing as it sounds.

Sebastiano Di Meo: “The inspiration behind this was everything epic and cinematic. To try to symbolize the magnitude of Queen in Miami Beach. And the royalty that comes with the name.”

And whether you come for the food or the show. A good time is guaranteed.

Sebastiano Di Meo: “You can be here all night. From the moment you walk in until the last note the DJ plays, there will always be something activating.”

Keep your eyes peeled, you may get a glimpse of your royal highness.

Sebastiano Di Meo: “We may spot the queen by the end of the night. That happens only one time, and usually it’s Halloween.”

Japanese ice cream stand that serves ice cream shaped like a fruit lands at Aventura Mall https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/japanese-ice-cream-stand-that-serves-ice-cream-shaped-like-a-fruit-lands-at-aventura-mall/ Thu, 23 Oct 2025 00:08:33 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1634685 If it looks like a fruit, don’t be fooled! It could be ice cream!

A Japanese ice cream stand has landed in the Aventura Mall and it’s serving up treats that are almost too cute to eat — almost.

Guest: “I tried the mango and I think it honestly taste like a real mango but in ice cream form and it looks like a mango too which is kind of fun!”

Who said eating fruit is boring? Like the customer said, it’s ice cream that’s shaped and painted to look like fruit.

But when you take a bite, it’s a creamy flavor of the actual fruit. The sweet treat has gone viral online, and ice cream lovers can’t resist it.

Laura Jimenez: “Since we’ve opened, we have been super busy because as soon as you try them, people love them. So they want to come back and try the other flavors that we have.”

The Japanese ice cream stand has them in seven different flavors and will run you about $11 each.

Deco catches up with SoFlo designer bringing positivity and creativity in the closet and on the walls https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-catches-up-with-soflo-designer-bringing-positivity-and-creativity-in-the-closet-and-on-the-walls/ Sat, 18 Oct 2025 01:36:27 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1633392 He’s a Miami creative supplying the latest fashion for the closets of celebrities and art for their walls! From Miami to Hollywood — local designer Vic Garcia is catching some serious attention. Deco caught up with the rising star at his Coral Gables studio for a closer look into his super positive and creative world.

You may want to get used to the name Vic Garcia, because very soon you’ll see it everywhere.

The Miami native is spreading positivity through his work as an artist and a clothing designer.

Vic Garcia: “I create all these little characters that you’ll find throughout my different mediums with positive messages, and I’m here to try to leave the world a little better.”

And big names are hanging his work, from rapper Rick Ross to Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo.

For Vic, it’s a dream come true.

Vic Garcia: “It definitely feels good. They are obviously on another stage that maybe not the ordinary person is on and now they are supporters of my dreams.”

But his artwork isn’t the only thing making waves.

Vic Garcia: “I have two separate clothing brands. One is ‘Vic Garcia World,’ which is basically around all my characters and positive messages that you’ll find throughout my drawings, and then I created a second brand called ‘All Good Things Are Welcome Here.'”

A pair of sweats created for his “All Good Things Are Welcome Here” line even appeared on the big screen!

Vic Garcia: “I was watching ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ like all of us, and all of a sudden, Adam Sandler is walking into the scene and he’s wearing my sweatpants and I go, ‘Wow, this is crazy. Like, how did he get my pants?'”

I mean, Vic’s line is sold at more the 60 Macy’s stores nationwide!

His streetwear line “Vic Garcia’s World” is sold on Nordstrom’s website, and it’s also receiving major celeb love.

Vic Garcia: “The other day, I dropped a golf collection and then few days later, people started sending me these photo of DJ Khaled getting off his plane, rocking the shirt.”

While his work is standing on its own, a little family backing definitely helps.

“Godfather” star and Miami resident Andy Garcia is Vic’s uncle, and Vic says the actor has cheered him on from the very start.

Vic Garcia: “He’s definitely a big supporter. He loves what I’m doing. He’s all for it and he keeps pushing me to strive for greatness for sure.”

A Brickell bistro and bakery is giving SoFlo a taste of autumn with a unique pumpkin lineup https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/a-brickell-bistro-and-bakery-is-giving-soflo-a-taste-of-autumn-with-a-unique-pumpkin-lineup/ Sat, 18 Oct 2025 01:31:50 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1633404 It’s time to bring some spice in your life. Pumpkin spice baby! A Brickell bakery is bringing fall flavors to the 305, giving South Floridians a taste of autumn without leaving the heat and humidity.

Fall has landed in Miami, and you know what that means…

Well, yes, spooky season, but it’s also time to get cozy with some pumpkin-inspired treats.

Tucked away in Brickell, “Casa Nané” is mixing tradition with creativity.

Jeanet Hanze: “Casa Nané is a bistro and bakery. Our specialty is our cookies, but we also have Ecuadorian dishes.”

But this time of year, it’s all about their pumpkin lineup – a seasonal menu that’s both comforting and unexpected.

Jeanet Hanze: “So we have dishes that no one has. We have pumpkin soup, we have pumpkin quiche with mozzarella cheese. And we have a pumpkin quiche with caramelized onions and bacon and it’s really, really good.”

Pumpkin and bacon? Ok, we have to know the flavor logic behind this.

Jeanet Hanze: “We wanted to have something sweet and savory at the same time. Different from things you see here in Brickell.”

The quiche isn’t the only thing on Casa Nané’s fall menu that’s unique. So are the pumpkin spice lattes!

Jeanet Hanze: “We actually buy the pumpkin and then we make the pumpkin jam from scratch for the latte specifically.”

Of course, we can’t talk about a bakery without mentioning cookies!

Jeanet Hanze: “Of course, the pumpkin cookies with pecans, white chocolate, and caramel are amazing. We also do an almond topping for the cookie.”

The menu is already a hit!

Guest: “I’m so obsessed with Casa Nané, honestly, I come here all the time. It’s so close to my apartment and the fall menu items really make it feel like fall here in Miami.”

Casa Nané’s cozy fall menu is available all season long.

Nacionsushi in Doral offers Latin American food with Southeast Asian flair https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/nacionsushi-in-doral-offers-latin-american-food-with-southeast-asian-flair/ Tue, 07 Oct 2025 00:29:58 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1629922 Miami’s food scene has a new passport stamp. A Latin American sushi sensation with an Asian flair has landed in Doral. From neon lights to cherry blossom, this place is a feast for your eyes and a party for your taste buds.

If you want to dine like you’re in Asia, without actually flying to Asia, then you need to check this place out.

This is Nacionsushi, a Latin-American-based sushi hub that has just opened its first U.S. location right here in the 305.

Juan Manuel Burgos: “The city is so hot in this moment. It’s in everyone’s mouth, and we thought, ‘Yeah, this is the place that we want to be.'”

And it’s where you want to be, too!

Each room in the restaurant is like stepping into a different country in Southeast Asia.

Juan Manuel Burgos: “Every space has its own life and its own decoration. We have the central, which is like the main dining room, and we have the Thai lounge, which is a little more private. We have a Vietnam dining room.”

I mean, even the bathroom is a trip to Japan.

Juan Manuel Burgos: “The reason why we have some many, like, ambiances is because we want the people to choose in which one feels more comfortable.”

And being comfortable is a must when it’s time to devour this good food … like these larger-than-life sushi rolls.

Delfina Guemes: “The XL rolls are definitely my favorite. I love that they are protein rich, rice light and in so many different varieties.”

But Nacionsushi has more than just sushi.

Juan Manuel Burgos: “We also have pad Thai. They are spicy, they have shrimp or they have chicken.”

Wash it all down with a sangria or…

Juan Manuel Burgos: “We also have another cocktail called Golden Gai, which has passion fruit, sake and wine.”

And then comes dessert. We recommend the dulce de leche.

Juan Manuel Burgos: “They are mini wontons filled with dulce de leche, and it’s served with ice cream and blueberry sauce.”

One Link Music Festival brings the top Caribbean artists to Bayfront Park https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/one-link-music-festival-brings-the-top-caribbean-artists-to-bayfront-park/ Fri, 03 Oct 2025 02:19:06 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1629020 Miami, start practicing your “dutty whines,” because Carnival is here, but before you go shake your rump at the Dade County Fairgrounds, shake it at Bayfront Park! The One Link Music Festival is back — and it’s your ultimate kickoff to Carnival weekend.

Miami…

Woman (singing) “It’s Carnival.”

…which means put on your dancing shoes and get ready for some Caribbean vibes.

Some of the biggest artists in the Caribbean music scene are about to light up Bayfront Park for the One Link Music Festival!

Matthew Waddell: “One Link Music Festival is a festival designed to immerse Caribbean culture. This is the time to come and see your artist that, you know, either they are in Soca music or they are in Dancehall or Reggae, over the Miami Carnival weekend.”

And he’s not kidding when he says “immerse.”

Matthew Waddell: “The Caribbean is several different islands that each has its own unique flavor. Each has its own unique sound, so you’ll be able to hear music from Jamaica, from Trinidad, from Grenada, from different Caribbean countries, and also from America.”

So who’s on the ticket list?

Matthew Waddell: “The best question is who’s not on the ticket list. We have Shenseea, we have Masicka, we have Mavado, I can keep going on and on.”

Soca titan Machel Montano will also hit the stage, and he’s bringing the party with him.

Machel Montano: “Miami is already a second home to me, and to be right here, in the heart of downtown — with the skyline, the water, the vibes — it’s going to be magic.”

Hosting the celebration is Miami’s own Walshy Fire. You might know him from Major Lazer.

Walshy Fire: “The host, actually, their job is to transfer the energy from the last person to the next person. If the last person was hype, I’ll keep it hype!”

Yes, keep it hype! We like that! Even DJ Khaled is excited.

DJ Khaled: “Ayo, check this out, it’s all about One Link! That’s right, Carnival! That’s right, Miami, you see the legend! DJ Khaled, October 11. I will be performing live. One Link, one love!”

Matthew Waddell: “So, really, if you are trying to enjoy yourself and kind of get a full-on dose of fun and really do it in an authentic way, I think One Link Music Festival is going to be the place for you.”

The two-day fest is going down Oct. 10 and 11. It’s the warm-up to carnival, which happens on Oct. 12.

The cast and crew of the kids series hit the pink carpet in Los Angeles for its weekend premiere. The film follows Gabby and grandma Gigi, played by Laila Lockhart Kraner and Gloria Estefan, on a whimsical new adventure and the two stars can’t wait to share their excitement.

Laila Lockhart Kraner: “I’m just so happy, like I haven’t been able to stop smiling. I’m so happy to be here with my family and all the OG Gabby cats are here. It’s so good to celebrate with them and get to this point where we’ve gone to a movie and now we have co-stars like Kristen Wiig and Gloria Estefan. It’s insane!”

Gloria Estefan: “After I saw the premiere in Miami, all the little kids that were in the audience said, they’ve already seen me and they know who I am, but afterwards they came and they hugged me. ‘Grandma GG! Grandma GG!’ I want way more of that.”

“Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie” hits theaters Friday, Sept. 26.

Waterfront venue Palm Tree Club in North Bay Village rolls out list of DJs, performers on their fall lineup https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/waterfront-venue-palm-tree-club-in-north-bay-village-rolls-out-list-of-djs-performers-on-their-fall-lineup/ Fri, 19 Sep 2025 00:22:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1618870 Summer may be ending, but the party is just getting started, and what’s a party without a DJ? From turntables to sunsets, one South Florida venue is bringing the heat this fall with a music lineup that will keep those vibes going strong.

Please don’t stop the music! And the Palm Tree Club in North Bay Village has no plans to.

Joe Lahoud: “Palm Tree Club is a coastal experience here in North Bay Village. We offer coastal cuisine with some of the highest-end DJs in the world.”

Speaking of DJs, the waterfront venue has just dropped its fall lineup of performers, and the list is stacked!

Joe Lahoud: “We are really excited about Palm Tree season two. Obviously, we are going to have some of the top-tier talent in the world as we did in season one, but then we are adding some new additions to our lineup, llike Hugel, Griffen, and DJ Pauly D.

But wait! There’s more! The electronic duo The Chainsmokers kicks off the fun on Sept. 27.

You don’t even need to walk in to catch the beat – pull up by boat!

Joe Lahoud: “We are one of the few venues on water that can fit up to 22 boats. We have a whole system on how you can call into a special channel on your boat radio, or you can call into the Palm Tree phone number, and we can set you up with a dock space.”

Each weekend brings a new headliner to the stage, all the way through November.

Joe Lahoud: “We have some really amazing surprises coming in December, January, February and March — some really, really special guests, and some really cool acts that we can’t wait to show everyone.”

So come one, come all, because you won’t find this kind of energy anywhere else.

Joe Lahoud: “People should come here to Palm Tree Club because we are the most unique experience in Miami right now. We are not a nightclub. We are open from 12 to 10 p.m., and our DJs are really going on during sunset, so you are getting the sunset atmosphere.”

The fun begins on Saturday, Sept. 27.

These SoFlo spots are writing the perfect ‘Love Story’ for Swifties to just say yes https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/these-soflo-spots-are-writing-the-perfect-love-story-for-swifties-to-just-say-yes/ Tue, 09 Sep 2025 01:45:09 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1613204 Taylor Swift said “yes” to her soon-to-be hubby, Travis Kelce, and now she’s in her engagement era. Places all over SoFlo are inspired by their love story, and they’re offering packages straight out of a rom-com. From the ultimate proposal to a bridal brunch, it’s a Swiftie wedding takeover.

Taylor Swift once famously sang “Love Story” … and now, Pinecrest Gardens is doing its part to make saying “yes” easy.

The botanical garden has just announced its new “Love Story” proposal package, fully inspired by Taylor and Travis’ recent engagement news.

Elis Webb: “When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got engaged last week, it reminded us how timeless and romantic botanical garden proposals can be.”

The scenic park is pulling out all the stops to make your engagement era is just like Taylor’s.

Elis Webb: “The ‘Love Story’ package is the perfect all-inclusive package. It comes with a photographer to capture the special moment, some beautiful fresh roses and custom signs.”

You can choose anywhere in the 14-acre park to be your backdrop, and leave everything else to the staff.

Elis Webb: “We’ll prepare everything for you, so whoever is proposing doesn’t have to worry about anything at all. And when you both get here, everything will be ready for your special moment.”

And when you say “yes,” sip on a glass of champagne to celebrate.

Oceanic Pompano Beach is all about love.

Amanda Mohammed Currie: “One of the most beautiful places you can have a wedding. But how great would it be if Taylor and Travis were to have their wedding in Pompano Beach, right there overlooking the Pompano Pier? By the way, that’s totally an invitation. Let us know, we will definitely host you.”

Before the wedding bells, this oceanfront spot is having a bridal shower brunch with all things Taylor.

Amanda Mohammed Currie: “It’s $87 per person, and that’s gonna include bottomless mimosas, that includes the welcome mocktail, a choice of entrée, plus all the passed appetizers, and then all the activities that we’re gonna do.”

Like bracelet-making.

Amanda Mohammed Currie: “We’re gonna be making friendship bracelets, of course. We’re going to have Taylor Swift trivia.”

Oh, yeah. Let’s mellow out all the competitiveness with some food and music.

Amanda Mohammed Currie: “Also, we’ll include live music. We do have a live saxophone player that will be playing along to the music of Taylor Swift. I hope things get crazy. I hope we make a lasting impression that, you know, will make us want to host more events like this, because that’s really the endgame. The ‘End Game,’ you see what I did there?”

Wynwood artist Weerdo blends immigration with traffic signs in new exhibit at Museum of Graffiti https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/wynwood-artist-weerdo-blends-immigration-with-traffic-signs-in-new-exhibit-at-museum-of-graffiti/ Tue, 02 Sep 2025 00:04:18 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1608364 Things are about to get a little weird in Wynwood thanks to a local artist. No, not weird as in strange. Weird as in Weerdo. The talented graffiti artist is about to debut his new exhibit! Deco caught up with him at his studio in Miami to learn all about it.

If you ever needed a sign to go visit an art show, here’s a few.

Street artist Weerdo is gearing up for the showing of his new exhibit “Signs of the Times.”

Weerdo: “Signs of the Times’ is an exhibition that will be centered around a lot of the immigration and politics stances and it will be reflected on signs that normally are used to give directions or advice of where to go.”

Most of the signs will feature skulls, a nod to his Mexican roots.

Weerdo: “It’s personal to me because that’s the – I’m an immigrant that came to this place with my parents when I was 2 years old, and it’s always been a big thing in my life.”

And speaking of skulls, Weerdo has created an entire room of them — each one symbolizing life’s daily sacrifices.

Weerdo: “And they are painted in a way where it shows different emotions through color. Every sacrifice you make isn’t a happy one, or a sad one, or an angry one. It’s just a variety of them that you have throughout your whole life.”

While the room captures the emotional weight of his work, the exhibit itself showcases what he has put in for nearly a decade.

Weerdo: “This exhibition is a major one because it’s one of the first ones that’s in an actual museum-style exhibition. The other times I would use other spaces and turn them into gallery-like spaces.”

The exhibit will be on display at the Museum of Graffiti in Wynwood. It’s a full-circle moment for Weerdo.

Weerdo: “My first visit to Wynwood was in 2012 through a high school field trip, and we saw a bunch of artwork, and I think that was the moment when I was like, ‘I kind of want to do this, like, as a thing, as a career.'”

OK, before we go, we have to address the Weerdo in the room. Why the name?

Weerdo: “You get labeled that as, like, an outcast kind of name, so I just decided to take that and reclaim it.”

And as for the mask?

Weerdo: “The mask itself adds a confidence to me that I don’t normally have.”

Weerdo’s “Signs of the Times” solo exhibit will be open for viewing at the Museum of Graffiti in Wynwood starting Saturday, Sept. 6, and will run through Nov. 7.

‘Relay’ stars Lily James and Riz Ahmed reveal details of new whistleblower thriller https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/relay-stars-lily-james-and-riz-ahmed-reveal-details-of-new-whistleblower-thriller/ Wed, 20 Aug 2025 23:54:43 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1603939 The new action thriller “Relay” is all about suspense and old-school technology. Deco sat down with the stars of the flick to talk flip phones, Morse code and late night filming.

Lily James (as Sarah): “I’m in possession of evidence of an unlawful cover-up.”

Character in “Relay”: “There are a number of whistleblower support organizations.”

Lily James (as Sarah): “No, I just want to give everything back.”

Lily James is in a pickle in the new action thriller “Relay.”

Lily James (as Sarah): “There’s a van parked out front. I think they are watching me.”

Lily stars as a scientist turned whistleblower desperate to expose a cover-up … even if it puts her life at risk.

Lilly James: “I think tapping into someone who is fiercely – wants to do the right thing and doesn’t want to turn her back on that and is morally very engaged, and I found that to be really inspiring and urgent for us all.”

But she can’t expose the truth alone.

Seth Barrish (as Morel): “There are official channels, but there are unofficial ones.”

Lily James (as Sarah): “Who is he?”

In comes Riz Ahmed character, Ash, a professional fixer who trades secrets and doesn’t like to be seen, or heard.

Seth Barrish (as Morel): “I’ve never met him. It’s kinda the point. It’s a messaging service. They call you back”

Riz Ahmed: “You don’t find out my character’s name until pretty much the end of the movie. Personally, I think it makes me lean forward and lean in when I don’t know much about a character, when I’m asking myself, ‘Who is this person? What are they about? What’s their whole deal?'”

Although playing opposite of each other, Riz and Lily Spend most of the movie apart, relaying on vintage technology to connect them.

Lily James: “It was fun. It makes me want to throw my iPhone out the window.”

But the real challenge wasn’t cutting the cord. It was surviving the shoot itself.

Riz Ahmed: “I was exhausted with night shoots as well. I just want to throw that out there right now and say this whole movie was nocturnal, so we didn’t see daylight for about six, seven weeks. It was quite intense.”

Pun Bandhu (as Lee): “We got our guy.”

Lily James (as Sarah): “They know who you are! You’re in big danger!

“Relay” starts in theaters on Friday.

3 local hotspots featured on ‘The Real Housewives of Miami’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/3-local-hotspots-featured-on-the-real-housewives-of-miami/ Tue, 12 Aug 2025 02:25:23 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1601137 Ever wondered where the Real Housewives of Miami go to chill, dine and get glam? Well, you’re in the right place. I’m taking Deco viewers inside of three hotspots seen on the hit show and trust me, they’re are just as glamorous as you would imagine.

When you are dealing with Real Housewives drama, it helps to be a little flexible.

And that’s were StretchLab in Midtown comes into play.

Mago Amoretti: “StretchLab is a boutique studio here in Miami, and we specialize in mobility and flexibility.”

This place allows you to release all the tension and stress you’ve built up arguing with your friends — or just from life in Miami.

Mago Amoretti: “We have some technology to read your mobility and detect the parts that need to be stretched.”

The business was featured on a recent episode of “The Real Housewives of Miami,” and it made quite the impression.

Mago Amoretti: “Well, a lot of our customers actually saw us featured there. They were super happy to see that place that they come every week featured on TV. I didn’t know it was going to be so big. A lot of people watch that show, and it’s very dear to a lot of people, so it was a good thing.”

And, if you want to be pampered like a Real Housewife of Miami, then head to Alexia + Frankie’s Beauty Bar in Surfside, because…

Alex Miranda: “Alexia, what are you doing here?”

Alexia Nepola: “Hi, Alex. I actually own this place.”

Alex Miranda: Oh, yeah, that’s right.

Alexia Nepola: “Anyway, in Miami, and as a housewife, we love to look good and feel good.”

Alex Miranda: “Yes, we do, with a glass of rosé. So cheers to no drama.”

Alexia Nepola: “At least not yet.”

Alex Miranda: “Oh.”

Alexia Nepola: “I have everything here that I like: lashes, spray tan, facials, blowouts, manicures and pedicures. We also do waxing. It actually made me think about that.”

Alex Miranda: “Waxing where?”

Alexia Nepola: “Everywhere.”

Alex Miranda: “How often do the fans come, and what is it like?”

Alexia Nepola: “I love to talk to them. I love for them to come in and make them even more beautiful. They do services, they love all of my girls. My incredible customers are so loyal.”

Alex Miranda: “Including Belkys Nerey.”

Alexia Nepola: “Yes, that is right.”

Alex Miranda: “I don’t even want to show you whether I need a pedicure or not. I was like, that one, forget it. You’re going to be horrified.”

Alexia Nepola: “Everyone needs a pedicure.”

Alex Miranda: “How often are you really here?”

Alexia Nepola: “OK, so I try to come every day. I love to be here because I love what I do. It’s my happy place.”

And after pampering comes the dining.

Level 6 in Coconut Grove is where sunsets, small plates and shade all come together.

Gabriella Sanon: “For Level 6, I would say think Ibiza in Miami; that’s like the perfect explanation.”

From tapas to drinks, this rooftop hotspot is where the housewives and Miamians alike come for a good time.

Gabriella Sanon: “We do Spanish tapas, which is ideal for just sitting down, having cocktails and talking with the girls.”

With uninterrupted views of the bay, it’s the perfect backdrop for your evening — and to sip on delicious cocktails.

Gabriella Sanon: “And when the housewives come here, they’re drinking them, not throwing them.”

Local red carpet event held for ‘The Shadow of the Sun,’ Venezuelan drama from Miami-raised director https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/local-red-carpet-event-held-for-the-shadow-of-the-sun-venezuelan-drama-from-miami-raised-director/ Fri, 08 Aug 2025 23:59:47 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1600535 Coral Gables Art Cinema hosted a sold-out red carpet opening night event to mark the commercial release of an award-winning film about family and music.

Carlos Manuel Gonzalez (as Leo, in sign language): “I got the perfect song for this!”

Anyelo Lopez (as Alex, in Spanish): “Who told you that I could sing?”

Carlos Manuel Gonzalez (as Leo, in sign language): “I know it. I heard you once.”

Anyelo Lopez (as Alex, in Spanish):: “You heard me?”

Carlos Manuel Gonzalez (as Leo, in sign language): “Yes.”

“The Shadow of the Sun” is a Venezuelan/U.S. co-production that follows two brothers from the remote city of Acarigua, Venezuela, on a journey to a national singing competition.

One of the siblings, deaf since birth, writes the music while the other one sings it.

Miami-raised Miguel Angel Ferrer is the director of the film. He told Deco having it shown in SoFlo theaters is special.

Miguel Angel Ferrer: “I feel incredibly proud, honored, humbled to be able to show it here in South Florida, in Miami, where so many of my beginnings as a filmmaker happened. Miami has been ingrained as a cultural hub for me and, really, the place where I started to love American and world cinema.”

The film has received recognition at international festivals, including last year’s Miami Film Festival. It is now showing at Coral Gables Art Cinema and Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale.

Rose Cafe & Restaurant in Sunny Isles Beach showcases farm-to-table menu in Miami Spice for a second year https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/rose-cafe-restaurant-in-sunny-isles-beach-showcases-farm-to-table-menu-in-miami-spice-for-a-second-year/ Sat, 02 Aug 2025 00:39:02 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1598535 It’s Miami Spice season, and one Sunny Isles Beach restaurant is serving up freshness with every bite with ingredients picked just for your plate. Deco headed to Rose Cafe & Restaurant to see what’s growing on the menu.

After years of laying roots, Rose Cafe & Restaurant in Sunny Isles is ready to bloom.

The breakfast and lunch spot is part of Miami Spice for its second year, and they’re bringing more than just their beautiful flower decor.

Alexandra Milton, owner of Rose Cafe & Restaurant : “We changed a little bit of our menu for something much more interesting, especially now because we have now the farm to table.”

That farm? It’s in Homestead, at the Agape Network.

Jordan Nance: “The Agape Network, which basically provides all the fresh ingredients that will be used inside of the cocktails and inside of the food.”

Yup. The roses on the wall aren’t the only things being plucked fresh from a garden.

Jordan Nance: “Here at Agape, you’ll see a lot of fresh mint, fresh basil, Habanero peppers, jalapeño peppers. Basically anything that you can thing of growing in a garden in the tropical climates of Miami, they provide it.”

Then it’s brought to the restaurant for you to enjoy with your meal.

Alexandra Milton: “We started playing with some ingredients that we have in the farm, like the green plantain. We offer the Guacamole Watermelon with some fried plantains.”

And fresh produce doesn’t stop with an appetizer. You can expect hints of tomatoes, grown on the farm, in your oven baked chicken curry, and your cocktail to be garnished with fresh lemongrass.

Jordan Nance: “Fresh ingredients make it just taste 10 times better than anything processed. Like, if somebody whre to buy mint oil, it tastes like – sometimes it’s made with citrus acid, and sometimes people get heartburn from that.”

Customers are enjoying the difference in taste, especially because of what’s not in the food.

Juanita Gutierrez: “The ingredients actually taste really, really fresh and [it’s] what I love the most.”

You can catch Miami Spice at Rose Cafe & Restaurant for breakfast, lunch and brunch now until the end of September.

Kevin Hart’s Netflix movie shoot snarls traffic in Brickell https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/kevin-harts-netflix-movie-shoot-snarls-traffic-in-brickell/ Fri, 01 Aug 2025 23:38:42 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1598552 If you were caught in traffic in Brickell Thursday, Kevin Hart might have been the reason why.

The comedian is shooting his new Netflix movie right here in Miami.

Miamians caught Kevin in action, jumping on the back of a hot pink stretch limo.

The film is called “72 Hours,” and it follows Kev’s character as he goes through a midlife crisis — a crisis that apparently involves being stuck on the back of a pink stretch limo.

Miami native and “SNL” cast member Marcello Hernandez also stars in the comedy.

Deco catches up with SoFlo family competing on ‘The Quiz with Balls’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-catches-up-with-soflo-family-competing-on-the-quiz-with-balls/ Mon, 28 Jul 2025 23:54:06 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1597198 It’s trivia with a splash of fear, and one South Florida family is taking their game night to new heights — and depths — on Fox’s “The Quiz with Balls.”

Meet the Minervini family. They’re the next contestants on “The Quiz with Balls.”

Deco caught up with them before their episode airs Monday night to find out more about that freakishly large ball!

Craig Minervini: “You know, just looking at the size of that thing, it’s like twice the size of us. It is scary; the most frantic part is you finally lock in your answer, you are on a plank, and you feet are practically over the plank.”

Doug Minervini: “It’s a six-foot drop.”

Craig Minervini: “More! I think it’s at least 10.”

Doug Minervini: “And then the water is, like, 11 feet deep.”

Craig Minervini: “Yeah, it’s a scary proposition to meet that baby.”

Hopefully, the Minervini family knows how to swim or have their life jackets ready.

To catch the Minervini family take on “The Quiz with Balls,” tune in to Channel 7 Monday night at 9 p.m.

Superblue Miami invites you to express yourself at high-tech interactive ‘Temporary Graffiti’ exhibit https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/superblue-miami-invites-you-to-express-yourself-at-high-tech-interactive-temporary-graffiti-exhibit/ Thu, 17 Jul 2025 03:48:01 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1593266 If you’ve ever wanted to spray graffiti without the mess, or the arrest, Superblue Miami has you covered. Its latest exhibit is merging street art with tech. Deco took a trip down to the interactive art playground to find out more.

Graffiti is getting a temporary glow-up at Superblue Miami.

Superblue Miami Guest 1: “It was amazing, I’ve never experienced something like this.”

Thanks to its newest exhibit “Temporary Graffiti.”

Steve Velasquez: “‘Temporary Graffiti is an interactive artwork created by post digital art group Random International. They are a London-based group, and they’ve essentially created a way for our guests to create temporary designs with ultraviolet light on canvases.”

Here, you’re not just staring at the art, you’re creating it. So how does it work?

Steve Velasquez: “Think a traditional based spray can. There is a custom-made microcomputer inside of this spray can, and it allows light to pour out. This light is leaving behind an almost glow-in-the-dark design on photoreactive canvases.”

Just a stroke of a spray can, and you can leave your mark on the art world.

Steve Velasquez: “A lot of times, people will come and they’ll just start designing. They’ll put like a smiley face, they’ll put a bird, sometimes they’ll just write their name.”

But blink, and it’s gone.

Steve Velasquez: “The design is so temporary. Let’s say you don’t like it. you know, you kind of move on, you give it like 10, 15 minutes, it’ll disappear.”

Anyone can be a graffiti artist, too — no skills required.

Superblue Miami Guest 2: “I’m not to good at it. it’s just for fun. “

Steve Velasquez: “It’s for all ages. We see people from children to adults all come in, have a great time, and sometimes come out shocked at what they are able to creatively design.”

And while the art you make is temporary, the exhibit is not.

Steve Velasquez: “For Superblue, ‘Temporary Graffiti’ is a semi-permanent situation, meaning that at the moment, there is no clear end time or closure date for this piece, So at the moment, you can just enjoy for as long as it’s here.”

“Temporary Graffiti” is included with your general admission ticket to Superblue Miami.

Prepare to eat, drink and bathe in mango when the Mango Festival returns to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/prepare-to-eat-drink-and-bathe-in-mango-when-the-mango-festival-returns-to-fairchild-tropical-botanic-garden/ Fri, 11 Jul 2025 00:25:40 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1591399 If you think a mango is just a fruit, think again. At this year’s Mango Festival at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, it’s basically a way of life. From beauty hacks to brunch bites, Deco is offering you a look at Miami’s most delicious obsession.

Craving something sweet, tropical and totally Miami?

Robert Soto: “Lots of ways to experience mangoes here at the garden this weekend.”

We hope so, because Miami’s juiciest weekend has arrived at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.

Robert Soto: “Mango Festival is a weekend celebration here at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden where we are celebrating all things mango.”

We’re talking mango tasting, mango seminars, even ways to pamper yourself with the luscious fruit.

Terry Grimsley: “We are going to show the guest how to make a mango body butter that they can use from head to toe as a moisturizer, a mango-scented body wash and then a mango coconut hand scrub.”

From mangoes on your skin to mangoes in your cup, the festival is also shaking things up with cocktails and mocktails.

Robert Soto: “We are featuring two drinks at our Glasshouse Café bar. One of them is going to be the Mango on Deco!”

Something tells us this is going to be our fave.

Robert Soto: “White rum, mango liqueur, fresh lime, finished off with some bitters.”

And if you’re feeling two thirsty, try the garden’s twist on a mango margarita: the Two to Mango.

Robert Soto: “Along with those two fabulous drinks, we can’t forget about our ever popular mango smoothies.”

Now, onto the best way to enjoy a mango: eating it!

Robert Soto: “Finishing out our weekend is mango brunch, one of or most popular events. It sells out every single year. Some of the best chefs in Miami come together and create this amazing menu.”

Enter chef Cesar Zapata of Phuc Yea Miami, and trust us, he’s not holding back on the flavor.

His Federal Biscuit, once named the best in the country by Food and Wine Magazine, is getting a tropical twist for the fest.

Cesar Zapata: “We are going to make them with a mango butter and some hot honey on the top.”

The buttery, flaky biscuit paired with sweetness of the mango butter and a kick of hot honey? Let’s just say, it’s worth the brunch reservation.

Just a couple of bites and it’s gone! But don’t worry, Chef Cesar is bringing the mango madness to Phuc Yea’s menu, too.

Cesar Zapata: “We are going to have the biscuits, plus also we’re going to have a Tropi-mosa, which is going to be mango purée and a little bit of champagne.”

Robert Soto: “Adults, couples, families, everyone come on out, because it’s just going to be a great time.”

The Mango Festival is going down this weekend, July 12 and 13, at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.

‘Project Sirena’ at The Dead Flamingo on Calle Ocho shines spotlight on local female musicians https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/project-sirena-at-the-dead-flamingo-on-calle-ocho-shines-spotlight-on-local-female-musicians/ Sat, 05 Jul 2025 00:05:56 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1589709 If you’re tired of the same old song and dance on a Wednesday night, come up with your own at The Dead Flamingo on Calle Ocho.

The Dead Flamingo, located at 1728 SW 8th St. in Miami, is giving women the space to do just that with its new, female-led music series called “Project Sirena.”

Alex Alvarez: “‘Project Sirena’ is a cool night. We are trying to make more noise in the music scene. We have a night that we try to host to, I guess, bring more noise to women’s stories and music.”

The new series features talent right here in the 305.

Think of it like a showcase for original talent, which means all the music you sing must also be original.

Alexa Lash: “We always have three songwriters, new voices, every month on the second Wednesday, and it can be a range of anything. Our next lineup has R&B and soul and, basically, like a Latina Johnny Cash, among others, so it’s going to be great.”

The next show will be on July 9.

The event is free for anyone who wants to take part, so be sure to show up, grab a drink and catch the sound of Miami’s next big thing.

National Ice Cream Month brings unique offerings to South Florida dessert spots https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/national-ice-cream-month-brings-unique-offerings-to-south-florida-dessert-spots/ Fri, 04 Jul 2025 00:12:37 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1589443 It’s hot, and it’s July, so that means it’s officially National Ice Cream Month … and with National Ice Cream Day just days away, what better way to get in the mood than getting some brain freeze?

Two local ice cream shops are going all in with big scoops and a whole lot of flavor.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Customer: “This is really good. Oh, my gosh!”

OK, maybe not scream, but National Ice Cream Day is coming up, and Jolly Ice Dessert Parlor in Hollywood is giving customers a reason to celebrate.

Nicole Harris: “For National Ice Cream Day we have $2 small scoops, and that’s a big deal.”

A big deal indeed, especially when scoops are stacked with flavors you can’t get anywhere else!

Nicole Harris: “The little boys, when they come, they love the Cookie Monster. It’s blue, they love that. We have the Rainbow. It’s the colors that draw them in and makes them not want to leave.”

And those $2 scoops are even better when you pair them with fried Oreos.

Nicole Harris: “With the fried Oreos, we put condensed milk, we put powdered sugar and your choice of ice cream. It’s just a great mix.”

Customer: “May I have a Bubble Waffle, with salted caramel Biscoff and Cookie Palooza please?”

Andrew Rodriguez: “Of course.”

At Midtown Creamery located in Miami, it’s a different kind of scoop scene.

Andrew Rodriguez: “National Ice Cream Month is big for us here. We do ice cream every day, so this is just more of what we love.”

Instead of focusing on just the day, the ice cream shop is going all out the entire month with anything but ordinary flavors.

Andrew Rodriguez: “Nutella Oreo is great, people love it. Biscoff Salted Caramel is another big seller for us that people try. Matcha, taro, these are flavors that are a little bit off of what you see every day!”

Customer: “Can I try the taro?”

Andrew Rodriguez: “Of course.”

Customer: “Thank you.”

Andrew Rodriguez: “You’re welcome.”

But the ice cream isn’t the only thing that’s unique.

You can choose to have your sweet treat in a warm cone, or tricked out cereal bowl!

Andrew Rodriguez: “A lot of other shops, they’re very happy to just do a cup or a cone or a milkshake or whatever, and that’s great. However, when you come in here, you are little bit more challenged to go outside of what you’re used to trying.”

National Ice Cream Day is July 20, which just so happens to be a Sunday. You can enjoy a sundae on National Ice Cream Day.

After lead singer’s battle with cancer, Heart is back on tour and ready to rock out at Hard Rock Live https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/after-lead-singers-battle-with-cancer-heart-is-back-on-tour-and-ready-to-rock-out-at-hard-rock-live/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 00:15:24 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1587435 It’s a name synonymous with rock ‘n’ roll, and this weekend, Heart is taking center stage right here in South Florida. The legendary band is hitting the road for their self-titled tour and will be rocking out Hard Rock Live in Hollywood. Deco sat down with guitar queen Nancy Wilson to talk about Heart’s powerful comeback.

For nearly five decades, female-led rock band Heart has been bringing in the fire and fierce energy to rock stages around the world.

And this weekend, they’re bringing all of that energy to South Florida with a stop at Hard Rock Live.

Nancy Wilson: “We are really thrilled to be able to get back out on these stages and do what we do best, which is rock out!”

Nancy Wilson, one half of the legendary sister duo, told Deco guests should expect all of their hits.

Nancy Wilson: “We’re doing ‘Magic Man,’ we’re doing stuff from ‘Little Queens,’ stuff from ‘Dreamboat Annie,’ stuff from ‘Dog & Butterfly,’ so, yeah, there’s a lot of stuff that people are going to want to hear.”

The band has been on pause for a while after Heart’s front-runner, and Nancy’s big sis, Ann Wilson, had a major health scare.

Nancy Wilson: “Well, she’s actually doing killer. She kicked the ass of cancer for the last eight months or so, and we are able to come back out after postponing for those eight months while she got well.”

Now fully recovered, Nancy said Ann is ready to rock.

The show isn’t just for Day One fans. Heart welcomes everyone.

Nancy Wilson: “We see a lot of the same people throughout the decades, but then their kids are coming, their grandkids are also coming.”

Heart is performing Saturday, June 28 at Hard Rock Live.

Cast of ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ walks red carpet at prehistoric premiere in New York City https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/cast-of-jurassic-world-rebirth-walks-red-carpet-at-prehistoric-premiere-in-new-york-city/ Wed, 25 Jun 2025 00:18:09 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1586611 The dinosaurs are back and they are loving New York City! The cast and crew of “Jurassic World: Rebirth” hit the red carpet last night for their New York City premiere. The cast came out dressed to the nines to celebrate the newest chapter in the legendary franchise. And they had plenty to say about bringing dinos back to life.

New York’s Lincoln Center turned prehistoric as stars of the new “Jurassic World: Rebirth” gathered to celebrate its premiere.

Scarlett Johansson: “It is a ‘pinch me’ moment to be here in Lincoln Center, particularly. Feels pretty surreal.”

Scarlett Johansson, who leads the new cast of this epic journey, hit the carpet with her hubby, Colin Jost, and spoke on the one thing that made this film stand out from the rest.

Scarlett Johansson: “You know, David Koepp wrote the script and it was such a solid script. You know, it really attracted some incredible thespians to come and do it, because it was a lot for people to play.”

The seventh installment of this dino franchise brings new faces and new adventures. For Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the awe of Jurassic Park is what compelled him to join.

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo: “The first Jurassic Park, it really changed, you know, it marked a generation. And personally, it really opened the world of movies. For me to say to myself, ‘I want to do that,’ it’s so special. And now being part of it, it’s kind of like a dream come true, honestly.”

Also joining the Jurassic universe is Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali. He said the biggest thrill wasn’t just the dinosaurs. It’s also the opportunity to explore.

Mahershala Ali: “It was like summer camp honestly, so us being out of it all, out of the states and tucked away in Thailand for a while and then Malta and London, as well. It was just really wonderful getting to know people in this really unique environment that we were in.”

And while the franchise is known for its roaring action, Jonathan Bailey says “Jurassic: World Rebirth” delivers something deeper.

Jonathan Bailey: “It’s a simple narrative structure and then big thrills, big shocks and a lot of love and heart as well.”

“Jurassic World: Rebirth” stomps into theaters on July 2.

Michael’s Genuine launches mango-infused menu to kick off mango season https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/michaels-genuine-launches-mango-infused-menu-to-kick-off-mango-season/ Sat, 21 Jun 2025 00:32:42 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1585616 In Miami, they say, “If you don’t know someone with a mango tree, you might not have any friends.” But that’s OK, because one Miami restaurant is your friend, and they have enough mango for everybody.

Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink in the Design District is celebrating this mango season — one juicy bite at a time. Deco gobbled up the new menu.

Ready for your yearly mango fix? Then you might want to fit in a reservation at Michael’s Genuine in Miami’s Design District, where the mangoes aren’t just fresh, they are locally sourced,

Randy Zuniga: “Here at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, we love mango season. A lot of our servers and cooks, they like to bring in the mangoes and just see it hit the menu.”

And the love is real! The restaurant is serving up a mango-loaded three-course meal that’s bursting with flavor.

Randy Zuniga: “There is a multiple, different varieties of mangoes, and they all have different textures and flavors and profiles, so you want, like, kind of bring it in and play with it raw, and taste it and then see, ‘Oh, this might be good with fish, this might be good in a sauce.'”

Or how about both? Red snapper crudo, anyone?

Randy Zuniga: “The red snapper is almost sweet-like and kind of firm, so I wanted to feature that in its purest form. Slice it very thin, we fan it out, and then we wanted the sweet mango aspect to it to kind of highlight that.”

The result is a dish that’s just as stunning to look at as it is to taste.

The mango madness doesn’t end there.

Randy Zuniga: “The next dish is the prawns that we get off the Ivory Coast. We bring those guys in, and we roast them in the wood oven. When it comes out, we did a mango habanero glaze using the nice, riper mangos, and we combine it with our habanero hot sauce that we make in-house, and then it’s plated over a salad of pickle green mango.”

If you feel a bit of sadness when the plate is clean, cheer up, because dessert is on the way.

Randy Zuniga: “For dessert, we are featuring our mango tres leches, which is a traditional sponge cake, which is marinated in milk and mango purée.”

To wash it all down, sip on a cocktail with, yup, mango. Guests can’t get enough.

Annellyse Munroe: “I grew up eating mangos — I have three trees in my backyard — so having a local restaurant in Miami that sources mangos from the community, and now has special dishes tailored to mango season, is just truly amazing.”

When a family’s fishing empire crumbles in Netflix’s ‘The Waterfront,’ their loyalties will be put to the test https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/when-a-familys-fishing-empire-crumbles-in-netflixs-the-waterfront-their-loyalties-will-be-put-to-the-test/ Thu, 19 Jun 2025 23:57:32 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1585284 It’s coastal, it’s chaotic, and it’s crawling with secrets. It better be, if we’re supposed to be watching Netflix’s “The Waterfront.”

Deco sat down with the cast to talk family drama, high stakes and what happens beneath the surface of a family business.

The Buckley’s had it all and then some. That is, until their once thriving fishing empire off the coast of North Carolina begins to crumble.

Netflix’s newest drama series, “The Waterfront,” dives deep into family, legacy and high-cost survival.

Holt McCallany stars in the series as patriarch Harlan Buckley, a man determined to keep his family afloat.

Holt told Deco there were a few mental notes he had to consider before taking the role.

Holt McCallany: “I start by asking myself, ‘What do I have in common with this guy, Harlan Buckley, and in what ways are we different?'”

And while Holt can’t totally relate to a life as a drug lord, Jake Weary said there are quite a few similarities between himself and his character, Cane.

Jake Weary: “I know we just love doing the wrong things, right? It’s just so much more fun. Cane is so complicated and so flawed, and also kind of the glue that keeps the family together, in a way. I mean, I think we all share a part of that. I think we all have our own characteristics that, kind of, like, keeps the family in place.”

Cane may hold things together on the surface, but it’s his sister, Bre, played by Melissa Benoist, who sometimes has to pay the price.

Melissa Benoist: “What I ended up discovering about Bre that I think is really powerful is how deep her loyalty runs to her family, in spite of everything she’s been through with them and in spite of how much of an outsider she feels.”

“The Waterfront” is now streaming on Netflix.

BOHO House in Edgewater offers new take on nightlife with a relaxing vibe and great music https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/boho-house-in-edgewater-offers-new-take-on-nightlife-with-a-relaxing-vibe-and-great-music/ Wed, 18 Jun 2025 00:03:30 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1584554 It’s not a club, it’s not just dinner — it’s something in between. BOHO House is flipping the script on Miami nightlife. This hotspot is ditching velvet ropes and club culture for a more relaxing vibe. Deco took a trip down to Edgewater to learn all about it.

Chill vibes and great music. That’s the BOHO House formula for a great time.

Tucked away in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood, the hotspot is offering a whole new take on nightlife.

Arthur Thomas: “BOHO House is more of an experience than a place to come and party or have a drink for an hour. It’s more a place that you are going to sit and exchange vibes and energy.”

No bottle parades, no neon signs, just good food and even better music.

Arthur Thomas: “We don’t have the sparklers; we don’t do that, because it stops a part of the experience. The main focus is really the place and the DJ.”

These DJs traveled from near and far to make sure you are entertained.

Arthur Thomas: “We have DJs from all over the world coming here. People like Da Capo, Joezi, that came here not too long ago, and it was an amazing party.”

But what’s a good time without a few cocktails and delicious food?

Arthur Thomas: “We call our chefs ‘culinary shamans’ because they bring their own experience to BOHO, their food experience. It’s more finger food, it’s like a bohemian type of vibe for the food.”

Born during the pandemic, the restaurant has just celebrated five years in the business, and now it’s giving a shout-out to BOHO’s day ones.

Arthur Thomas: “We have a new membership club. It’s the way for us to keep the people that’s been here for now more than five years and make them feel special and thank them for being there and supporting us from the beginning.”

Not just anyone can get this membership.

Arthur Thomas: “The only way to be able to get to it is by invitation from another member or from us. So it’s really select.”

Perks include no waiting in line and a guaranteed table once you get inside.

Siboney Mesa: “I’ve been coming to BOHO House for about four years now, and I’ve always loved my experience. I’m so excited that they launched the new membership club, because it’s that same experience but just elevated.”

Singer Michelle Williams brings praise and worship to the first-ever Gospel Fest in Miami https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/singer-michelle-williams-brings-praise-and-worship-to-the-first-ever-gospel-fest-in-miami/ Tue, 17 Jun 2025 00:09:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1583670 She’s Destiny’s Child by name, but this weekend, Michelle Williams is showing love to her other parent: Jesus!

The Grammy-winning singer is trading in her pop hits, like “Bootylicious,” for praise breaks and hallelujahs at the Arsht Center’s first-ever Gospel Fest. We sat down with Michelle to find out just what you can expect.

Michelle Williams (singing): “I’m a survivor (what?) I’m not gon’ give up (what?) I’m not gon’ stop (what?) I’m gon’ work harder (what?)”

She learned to survive tough battles with her group, Destiny’s Child, and now Michelle Williams is bringing that spirit to Miami.

Michelle Williams: “It’s Miami, I love Miami”

The Grammy-winning superstar is taking a quick break from her role as Viola Van Horn in Broadway’s “Death Becomes Her” to bring some praise and worship to the 305 for the first-ever Gospel Fest Miami.

Michelle Williams: “To be called, to be a part of the first, I don’t take that for granted at all.”

Gospel Fest Miami is a three-day celebration of gospel music, culture and community.

Zaylin Yates: “The history and the roots that gospel music has here in South Florida, we pretty much just wanted to pay homage and an ode to the traditional sense of gospel music, but then also celebration the more contemporary.”

Michelle told Deco she’s bringing the heat!

Michelle Williams: “I’m looking at my song list now. I mean, I’m not coming to play no games, right?”

But she isn’t the only heavy hitter on this star-powered lineup.

Zaylin Yates: “Starting on Friday, we have a panel discussion and movie screening with Dr. Bobby Jones, the godfather of gospel, and then going into Saturday, we have Hezekiah Walker, Otis Kemp and our headliner Michelle Williams”

And before Michelle hits the stage, a Miami-based gospel group is kicking things off.

Zaylin Yates: “Gamaliel Fleurantin & Community Sounds actually was invited to come and perform with our headliner Michelle Williams.”

Gamaliel Fleurantin: “First of all, I’m excited and proud, really proud, due to the fact that I am a product of Miami, and we want these other artists to come down here and see, ‘Wow, Miami really does have it going on.'”

Things all come to an end on Sunday with a high-energy performance from Tye Tribbett and Sensere.

Zaylin Yates: “It’s going to feel like a family reunion in here.”

Michelle Williams: “I’m going to see so many people. I’m looking forward to meeting some people that I don’t know!”

The fun begins this Friday, June 20 at the Arsht Center.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and the cast of ‘FUBAR’ dreams of Miami as Netflix releases Season 2 https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/arnold-schwarzenegger-and-the-cast-of-fubar-dreams-of-miami-as-netflix-releases-season-2/ Fri, 13 Jun 2025 02:12:28 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1582750 Our favorite spy dad, Luke Brunner, is back on Netflix. Season 2 of “FUBAR,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is out now.

Before the new season premiered, Deco sat down with the cast to talk all things spy, and what it would cost to bring the show to Miami.

Arnold Schwarzenegger (as Luke Brunner): “I told you. I’m back.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger has fulfilled a promise. The actor has returned for another round of action in Season 2 of the father-daughter spy series “FUBAR.”

At 77, the former bodybuilder still makes busting bad guys look like a breeze … but Arnold told Deco it’s more to it than meets the eye.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: “I mean, there is 20 different punches to remember, the timing to remember, the blocking to remember, so you don’t get kicked in the face.”

And that’s just half the battle.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: “And, sometimes, the circumstances make it even more tough, because you’re shooting at night, and it’s freezing cold, but the scene says you have to have a short-sleeve shirt on.”

We may know a way to get around the cold: film Season 3 in SoFlo!

To test our theory, we asked the rest of the cast what a tropical twist in the 305 might look like.

Fortune Feimster: “Well, we would dress somewhat similar to what I have on.”

Travis Van Winkle: “Yes, she’s got the style set for us.”

Fortune Feimster: “So, I think we would be in some fun outfits, for sure.”

Travis Van Winkle: “I think there are raves involved and a lot of baby oil.”

Milan Carter: “Baby oil!?! Whoa.”

Travis Van Winkle: “I meant for tanning!”

Fortune Feimster: “Yeah, for sure, some ‘Magic Mike’ moments.”

Milan Carter: “We won’t be going to Star Island! That’s what we won’t do!”

Monica Barbaro says she already has a plan for a Miami mission.

Monica Barbaro: “I love salsa dancing, so I’ll try to orchestrate some kind of scene, work around that. It’s just me going on vacation to Miami, basically.”

And speaking of dancing, in this new season, Arnold gets to tango with a new enemy, action legend Carrie-Anne Moss, who admits to being a little rusty on the dance floor.

Carrie-Anne Moss: “You know, the dancing, I couldn’t remember the next step. You’re kind of stepping on your feet. You know you’re not there, but because I’ve done it before, that kicks in mentally.”

Season 2 of “FUBAR” is now streaming on Netflix.

Introducing Dayuse! New app gives you day access to multiple SoFlo hotel rooms https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/introducing-dayuse-new-app-gives-you-day-access-to-multiple-soflo-hotel-rooms/ Wed, 11 Jun 2025 00:51:22 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1582080 Tired of working from your couch, or just need a mid-day escape? There’s an app for that!

It’s called Dayuse, and it’s flipping the script on how we use hotel rooms. Deco is diving in to give you all the deets.

We’re here for a good time, not a long time.

Heiko Dobrikow: “Take the person down to Las Olas Boulevard and spoil your individual, significant other rotten, and then take them up to the room and really show them a good time.”

We’re just playing. The Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale is offering a new way to stay. Instead of overnight, how about Dayuse?

Barbara Steinert: “Dayuse is the global leader in daytime hotel booking. The idea came from our founder David Lebée, our CEO, that was a hotel manager, and he realized that most of his hotel rooms were unused during the day.”

Now, many people are flocking to the app to take advantage of a hotel stay for a number of reasons.

Heiko Dobrikow: “Number one, we’ve seen business customers that needed a quiet place to work. The second thing we’ve seen is business groups that are coming in. For example, if it’s recruiters, interviews, depositions. The third group, I would say, is the layover, they are looking for a space that they can relax, they can shower before they leave, and have the opportunity to go down to the beach or go down Las Olas Boulevard.”

Some bookings are even more unique.

Barbara Steinert: “We have a lot of Taylor Swift fans that book Dayuse before the concerts, just to glam up before the show.”

Enjoy your room and the entire property.

Heiko Dobrikow: “Enjoy the beautiful yachts going by while you’re lounging at the pool, and then you can use any of our five food and beverage outlets.”

From 9 to 5, starting at $99.

Heiko Dobrikow: “Depending on season, it’s going to be about a 75% savings from an overnight stay.”

The good times keep rolling south of Broward. Miami Beach’s “Goodtime Hotel” is also on the Dayuse app.

Hayley Hawkinberry: “The Goodtime Hotel offers a number of unique intimate spaces for Dayuse app participants. We have our pool at Strawberry Moon, which is a 30,000-square-foot pool deck, restaurant, a place where guest can relax and enjoy are little poolside paradise. We also have the outdoor fitness center and workout facilities, or guests can enjoy the library, which is a cozy little nook to work or relax.”

As far as your room, the Dayuse app guarantees a queen-sized bed to get the relaxing vibes going.

Prices range from $109 to $160.

Hayley Hawkinberry: “Whether you are in between flights, or about to leave for a cruise, you can come to The Goodtime Hotel. Take a little break, freshen up, take a nap or experience all the amenities we have to offer.”

SoFlo nonprofit Hued Songs celebrates Juneteenth with locally produced performances https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/soflo-nonprofit-hued-songs-celebrates-juneteenth-with-locally-produced-performances/ Sat, 07 Jun 2025 00:41:02 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1581128 When you mix powerful voices, vibrant movement and a mission with meaning, you’re bound to get something unforgettable. That’s exactly what one South Florida group is serving up this Juneteenth.

Deco has an inside look at how Hued Songs is taking the holiday to the next level.

For Hued Songs, Juneteenth is not just a holiday. It’s a celebration!

Kunya Rowley: “Hued Songs is a nonprofit organization here in South Florida. We produce performances year-round that celebrate Black culture, Black joy and Black history”.

The organization brings history to life through song and dance at its annual “Juneteenth Experience.”

Kunya Rowley: “It is really a celebration of all the things that make Juneteenth special and all the reasons why we want to continue to perpetuate it.”

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the event, and it’s bringing a bold new theme.

Kunya Rowley: “This year, the theme for Juneteenth is non-erasure. We are really celebrating how we honor our history in Miami-Dade and Broward.”

The creative team behind this performance is determined to make sure this story can’t be ignored.

Gentry George: “Well, this is actually my fourth time being part of the productions, and my third time as the choreographer. Originally I just thought we’d do the same show each year, but each year it’s a totally different show.”

While the production feels big, the heart behind it is proudly local.

Gentry George: “Usually we think you have to go to New York or Los Angeles, some large city to produce something on a large scale, so it’s feel good that we can be here celebrating this work with our community.”

And when it comes to sound, the music doesn’t just entertain, it testifies.

Miriam King: “All of it comes to life in an array, or a hue, of genres, so you’ll hear classical, you’ll hear contemporary, jazz, gospel, very soulful sounds that celebrate every aspect of who we are as a people.”

There are three times to see the show: June 14 at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale, and the other two are in Miami Beach, June 18 and 19 at the Colony Theater.

SoFlo’s own pop star, Zachira, is on the rise after releasing her new hit single https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/soflos-own-pop-star-zachira-is-on-the-rise-after-releasing-her-new-hit-single/ Wed, 21 May 2025 01:22:11 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1575636 She’s got the voice, the moves, and soon she’ll have your attention. Her name is Zachira, and this Miami artist is ready for her close up. Deco caught up with the rising star in Miami to learn all about her and her new music.

Never again will you ever say you don’t know who Zachira is. The Miami-born singer wants to make a name for herself in the 305 music scene with her song called “Never Again.”

Zachira: “‘Never Again’ is about just moving on. And just never again doing that and just being, like, power, reclaiming back your power.”

Zachira told Deco that she’s been preparing for the spotlight for awhile.

Zachira: “I did a little bit of dancing growing up, like professional dancing. Then I started writing my own songs when I was 16 years old. I’m excited to be working on my music and sharing it with the world.”

And her hard work paid off.

Zachira: “My new single is called ‘Time of My Life.’ It’s very fun, pop-y, it basically describes about enjoying yourself, even when you’re going through twists and turns in life.”

But before she started making her own sound, she was taking notes from some of the greats.

Zachira: “When I was younger, I used to listen to a lot of Amy Winehouse, Adele. Adele was my favorite artist growing up.”

Zachira may be riding high now, but the road to success hasn’t been easy for the starlet.

Zachira: “What makes this important right now is that I’ve gone through a lot of ups and downs, especially in the music industry, a lot of twists and turns, and I’m very happy right now.”

As for what’s next for Zachira?

Zachira: “I have this other song called ‘Pa Tra.’ It’s a Spanish record, it’s more on the reggaeton, Afrobeats side.”

Zedd set to perform at Inter Miami CF match in Fort Lauderdale https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/zedd-set-to-perform-at-inter-miami-cf-match-in-fort-lauderdale/ Tue, 20 May 2025 00:05:19 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1575249 Zedd turned up the heat at Coachella – and let’s just say, the crowd felt every beat. Now the superstar DJ is hoping to do the same thing in South Florida.

Fresh off his show-stopping set at Coachella, Zedd’s taking center stage at an upcoming Inter Miami soccer match. Goal!!

Do you need a little bit of clarity? We hope so! Because record producer and DJ Zedd has plenty to give.

Zedd: “I’ve been playing ‘Clarity’ every night for the past 14 or so years. I still get emotional every single time.”

But save your tears. This is a happy occasion, because Zedd is headed to South Florida.

He’s set to play next week at the Inter Miami CF soccer game in Fort Lauderdale.

Zedd rocked the house at Coachella last month and he finds it a blessing to keep doing what he loves.

Zedd: “It’s still a miracle to me every single time I play a show. I still expect to go on and nobody being in front of my stage. I don’t think it will ever change.”

Not only was the crowd packed, but they sang every word.

Zedd: “I had prepared myself for not the most energetic crowd, and from the very first second stepped up, I saw everybody engaged.”

Zedd says the magic behind his hits is not following the trends, but just being true to who he is.

Zedd: “It is almost more genuine to not know what may or may not be successful and just do what you really love, and maybe it’s not going to connect that moment, but maybe it’s going to connect in three years or 10 years or 20 years. It doesn’t matter, as long as you’re doing it for the right reason. Eventually, it will find its its path to the ears of whoever wants to hear it.”

Ahead of this year’s Coachella performance, the star provided fans with some exclusive behind the scenes clips of the prep.

Zedd (on video): “We are heading to rehearsal to play all of the songs we are going to be performing at Coachella with the guest. But unfortunately, I haven’t even started rehearsing them myself.”

I know you recognized that voice and face; it’s John Mayer! The two lit up the stage together at Coachella.

Zedd: “I think, as somebody in my shoes, it’s also my job to take risks. You know, to bring artists that fans either don’t know or don’t expect, do things that aren’t necessarily the reason why people came to see me.”

Zedd’s performance at the Inter Miami soccer match goes down May 28 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
