From shiny trophies to dueling lawsuits — and a Swift-tacular engagement — here’s a look back at some of the biggest pop culture moments of the whole year!

Major victory and major controversy: 2025 began with Demi Moore winning her first ever major acting award at The Golden Globes for “The Substance,” while “Emilia Perez” star Karla Sofía Gascón found herself in hot water over her posts on social media.

Indie film “Anora” dominated at the Academy Awards.

That film took home five trophies, including best picture and best actress for Mikey Madison.

Jonathan Bailey had a wickedly good 2025, onscreen and in real life.

The actor was named People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”

Taylor Swift wrapped up “The Eras Tour” in 2024. But she had plenty more up her sleeve this year.

The singer dropped her record-breaking album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” And her man, Travis Kelce, finally popped the question, kicking off her engagement era.

She also released a concert film and docuseries about “The Eras Tour” on Disney+.

Taylor’s BFF Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco tied the knot after dropping their collab album, “I Said I Love You First.”

And in celeb splits, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban called it quits after 19 years of marriage.

Beyonce also had a billion dollar year.

The singer’s “Cowboy Carter” tour became the highest grossing country music concert tour ever. She also became the first Black woman to win the Grammy for best country album and finally won the coveted album of the year trophy.

The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn Tour” became the highest grossing tour by a solo male artist ever.

Spotify Wrapped crowned Bad Bunny as the year’s most streamed global artist, with almost 20 billion listens around the world. The Latin superstar was also named next year’s Super Bowl halftime show headliner.

Adele announced her first acting role. She’ll be part of Tom Ford’s upcoming Anne Rice adaptation, “Cry to Heaven.”

The courts also saw a lot of Hollywood action this year.

“It Ends With Us” ended with dueling lawsuits between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. She’s accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliating against her. But he claims she took over his movie, extorted him and tried to destroy his career. The trial is set for May.

Also making headlines: Sean P-Puff-Diddy-Daddy Combs was found guilty after an eight week trial in New York City.

The disgraced rap mogul was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in prison.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was temporarily suspended in September over the host’s political commentary.

That decision led to debates about free speech, with many celebs coming to his defense. That lasted six days.

The biggest movie of the year didn’t come from Hollywood.

China’s animated flick “Ne Zha Two” raked in almost $2 billion.

When it comes to domestic blockbusters, “A Minecraft Movie” starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa made over $423 million.

Marvel suited up for action with “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts*” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”

And the year comes to a close with some highly anticipated sequels.

“Wicked: For Good” marked a return to the Emerald City and all things green and pink, while James Cameron took audiences back to Pandora in “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”

Find the perfect workout to decompress from holiday stress at Club Studio at the Miami World Center https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/find-the-perfect-workout-to-decompress-from-holiday-stress-at-club-studio-at-the-miami-world-center/ Fri, 26 Dec 2025 01:17:40 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1654545 It’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. But the holiday season sure can be stressful! Thankfully, exercise is a great way to decompress and release those endorphins! Deco’s checking out a new spot that’ll get you back to feeling merry and bright any time of year.

Ed Sheeran singing “Merry Christmas”: “So kiss me under the mistletoe. Pour out the wine, let’s toast, and pray for December snow.”

They make it sound so easy. But in reality, the holidays can be kinda…

Jamie Lee Curtis as Nora Krank in “Christmas with the Kranks”: “I’m getting the ham. You get the tree.”

Talk about Christmas chaos! But have no fear, it’s easy to work off some of that stress!

At the new Club Studio at Miami World Center, getting pumped up is part of the fun!

Nia Simmons: “This is the first Club Studio here in Florida, and we’re excited to show Miami what we’re all about.”

This new state-of-the art facility is more than just a gym, it’s the ultimate spot for all things fitness and wellness.

Nia Simmons: “We have five boutique studio classes: Hit, boxing, cycle, yoga, reformer Pilates, which is super popular here in Miami. We also have a recovery lab. If you wanna also step away from the studio rooms, we have a fully equipped fitness center.”

Wait a minute, did I hear boxing?! That sounds like the perfect way to pound out some of those holiday headaches.

Nia Simmons: “It’s a good way to build strength in your upper body and also your core. There’s seven rounds on the bag and two rounds on the floor and it kind of helps destress your day if you’re having a difficult day that day.”

Nothing says yuletide like a sweat sesh. And a spin class is the key to shining brighter than that bulb you asked someone to change for the hundredth time. It’s okay, just pedal the pressure away.

Nia Simmons: “The music is loud, the lights are low. Whether you take it at the beginning of the day at 5:05 a.m. or at 7:30 at night, it’s gonna change your vibe.”

It’s not a proper de-stressing session without a little TLC. That’s where the recovery center comes in, which includes cryotherapy, red light therapy and massage chairs. I feel better just thinking about it.

Nia Simmons: “We all know the holidays are stressful. You’re trying to do a million things at once. Club Studio is that one-stop shop, whether you wanna work out stress in the fitness room, pamper yourself in recovery or grab a protein shake for an energy boost.”

Deco’s Shireen Sandoval reviews hottest holiday box office hits in critic’s corner https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/decos-shireen-sandoval-reviews-hottest-holiday-box-office-hits-in-critics-corner/ Fri, 26 Dec 2025 01:00:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1654541 When you’re a movie lover, December releases can feel like the ultimate Christmas presents. But not all of them can be wrapped up in big, shiny bows. But it’s the thought that counts. Anyway, here’s my thoughts on four of this month’s top films.

Fired up and sparking up a frenzy! “Avatar: Fire & Ash” lights up the world of Pandora,\ with another epic adventure.

The third installment in the franchise is a cinematic spectacle that’s as visually stunning as its predecessors.

It’s a big, immersive blockbuster that isn’t afraid to hold back on the intensity, the emotions, or the run-time. But for fans of the saga, the three-plus hour run time is totally worth it.

Let the good times roll! Because the only thing sweeter than Caroline is Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson’s magnetic chemistry in “Song Sung Blue.”

This musical drama is based on the true story of the couple behind the Neil Diamond tribute band, “Lightning & Thunder.”

It’s a feel-sad, feel-good movie about love, relationships and never letting your dreams die.

Play ball! Timothée Chalamet is going balls to the wall in the table tennis drama, “Marty Supreme.”

The actor has been training for this role since 2018, and it shows.

It’s a riveting performance in a chaotic, unhinged film that’s part sports-movie, part crime thriller and part comedy.

Timothée proves, yet again, that he’s not only mastered the game, but his craft.

My anaconda don’t want none unless you’re Jack Black and Paul Rudd!

The two are getting up to some real funny business in this reboot of the 1997 cult classic.

But in their version of “Anaconda,” it’s bloody violence meets slapstick humor. Sounds like the holidays to me!

It might not be the best movie out there, but it sure is entertaining!

A couple of SoFlo spots are serving holiday cheer with festive cocktails and chilled treats https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/a-couple-of-soflo-spots-are-serving-holiday-cheer-with-festive-cocktails-and-chilled-treats/ Thu, 18 Dec 2025 01:10:53 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1652094 If you could eat holiday cheer — it would be served with extra sprinkles and a side of miracles. From festive cocktails to nitrogen-chilled treats, we’ve got a couple of spots for you to check out. Deco’s serving up some sleigh-worthy sips and a seriously cool Grinch.

Raise a glass to good times and Christmas vibes! Because “The Dead Flamingo” is making spirits bright in Little Havana.

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “We have brought back our famous miracle on Calle Ocho. It’s basically like a holiday party in your family’s living room, but a little bit more fun.”

This place is totally decked out with festive decor, but it’s what’s happening at the bar that’ll really have you feeling holly jolly!

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “There’s about 20 holiday cocktails on the menu, so there’s something for everyone. They all come in decorated little mugs.”

Looking to get wild? You can’t go wrong with the Tequila-based “Koala La-La-La”

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “It has a little bit of vermouth, a little bit of tamarind. Very sweet, very refreshing.”

…Or the “Miracle Mouse.”

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “It’s a bourbon-based cocktail. It has vanilla and grapefruit. It is fruity but not intensely so.”

Wanna feel warm and fuzzy? Grab the “Coconut Hot Chocolate.” It’s got Jamaican rum, whipped cream, and comes in a Santa mug, and for those feeling extra adventurous…

Alexis Marie Tollinchi: “The ‘Yippie Ki Yay’ is probably one of our most famous cocktails. It has an intense blend of rums and a little bit of Ube. This is the perfect cocktail for those who know that Die Hard is a Christmas movie.”

Spiked Rich Nitrogen Ice Cream is decking out its menu with some frosty treats in time for the holidays.

Jesse Saunders, owner: “We make all of our ice creams from scratch using liquid nitrogen. We handcraft all of our creations. We use only premium ingredients here, and we’re known for crazy wild concoctions and recipes. Christmas time is always our favorite time of year. We always have new and special flavors for a limited time, such as ‘Gingerbread Crisp’ and ‘Peppermint Chip’. Fun and crazy creations, and very Instagrammable and really tasty.”

And of course, being naughty is OK.

Jesse Saunders, owner: “You can add alcohol to anything. We have a specialty alcohol menu as well. Our Grinch is a really popular item right now, which is our mint chip with Irish cream. You can get it virgin if you like as well. You can get regular cups, or you can upgrade and get our souvenir jars like our light bulbs and our teddy bear shakes as well.”

Portions are plenty to spread holiday cheer.

Jesse Saunders, owner: “You can bring your loved one, or you can bring a school bus of people to help you finish them. But we do have them in different sizes.”

Miracle on Calle Ocho is happening now through December 27th. As for Spiked Rich, they have specials going all the time. Just check out their Insta at spikedrich.

I mean, we do have a killer music scene in the 305. One example of that is Klaudie, a former model-turned-DJ and she’s definitely feeling the music!

Turn up the volume! Klaudie is making moves and dropping beats. She was born in the Czech Republic and got her start on the runway.

But these days, she’s turning heads in the studio and DJ booth. Klaudie’s been at it for about five years.

She tells Deco she taught herself after being introduced to house music.

Klaudie: “I completely fell in love with it, so afterwards I really wanted to learn. I did everything. I tried every morning. I was on the decks practicing and just educating myself about all of it. Eventually, I was like, ‘That’s it, no more modeling, this is it. I’m happy here.'”

Klaudie’s not just happy; She’s thriving!

She’ll be playing at Club Space on Dec. 19.

Tickets are available online.

Lele Pons joins the beloved Jim Henson characters for a new holiday special https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/lele-pons-joins-the-beloved-jim-henson-characters-for-a-new-holiday-special/ Thu, 11 Dec 2025 01:14:45 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649869 Let’s get ready to rock! Fraggle Rock, that is. The beloved Jim Henson characters are back with a new holiday special, and Miami’s own Lele Pons is joining in on the fun!

Lele Pons: “So you are a…”

Fraggle Rock: “Fraggle!”

Lele Pons: “Fraggle.”

Fraggle Rock: “Fraggle.”

Lele Pons: “Fraggle.”

Fraggle Rock: “Fraaaagle.”

Lele Pons: “Fraggle.”

Fraggle Rock: “Yeah!”

Lele Pons: “I like saying that. It’s fun to say.”

Fraggle. Fraggle. Fraggle.

Lele’s is right, that is fun to say! The social media superstar and singer is lending her voice and her wisdom to Gobo in “The First Snow of Fraggle Rock.”

She’s helping him find an inspo for his annual holiday song.

Deco caught up with Lele earlier to talk about the special and ask her about what signature Miami things she’d think would be fun to introduce to the Fraggle Rock world.

“LIV and jet-skis and boats. That’d be sick. Or a Bad Bunny concert. That’s super insane. They’d be like, Why is everybody acting so weird? What is that drink that they’re drinking? Nothing! It’s just water.”

We do love water, among other things, here in SoFlo.

“The First Snow of Fraggle Rock” is now streaming on Apple TV+.

Michelle Pfeiffer tells Deco what every mom wants to hear for Christmas in new holiday comedy, ‘Oh. What. Fun.’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/michelle-pfeiffer-tells-deco-what-every-mom-wants-to-hear-for-christmas-in-new-holiday-comedy-oh-what-fun/ Tue, 02 Dec 2025 01:06:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1647091 It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or so they say. It’s also the most stressful time of the year, especially when you’re a mom trying to deck the halls for everyone and not getting the credit you deserve! Well, turn that frown upside down because laughter is the best medicine, and there’s a new comedy coming to Prime Video this week that’s sure to make your spirits brighter.

Talk about the mother of all Christmases!

Michelle Pfeiffer is a mom on a mission to make spirits bright in “Oh. What. Fun.”

But her family’s apathy for everything she does during the holidays has her saying “bah humbug.”

I mean, who could blame her?

Michelle Pfeiffer: “Honestly though, it’s the tip of the iceberg in this film, in terms of what women accomplish behind-the-scenes that they get no credit for, no appreciation for.”

Preach, sister.

Because this movie is all about making mamas feel seen.

Michelle Pfeiffer: “Really, the principle of it is, let’s appreciate moms more.”

And even though it’s not even out yet, it’s already having that effect behind-the-scenes!

Just ask Denis Leary!

Denis Leary: “This is why my wife loved the movie when she saw it. Because she was like, ‘This is the truth about moms and Christmas.'”

Felicity Jones, Dominic Sessa and Chloë Grace Moretz play Michelle and Denis’ kids in the movie. Jason Schwartzman is the son-in-law.

They tell Deco that for them, it’s not officially the holiday season until…

Chloë Grace Moretz: “Ice skating. I feel like it’s, that’s the moment where I’m like, ‘Hell yeah, it is Christmas time!”

Dominic Sessa: “Yeah, I agree. It’s like skating outdoors.”

Chloë Grace Moretz: “Yeah.”

Dominic Sessa: “That’s hard to beat for sure, especially if you’re in, like, New York City.”

Felicity Jones: “‘Love, Actually’ became that film that until ‘Love, Actually,’ until I’ve seen it for the 10th time, it is not yet Christmas.”

Jason Schwartzman: “To me, what signals the holidays is the ornaments. We’re unwrapping things, we’re seeing what survived the terrible packing job that I’ve done the previous year.”

And when it comes to those three magical little words everyone wants to hear this time of year…

Felicity Jones: “That’s the best one: I brought wine.”

Chloë Grace Moretz: “I made food.”

Dominic Sessa: “I made food. Dinner is ready.”

Chloë Grace Moretz: “Yeah.”

Jason Schwartzman: “Synthesizers for you!”

Denis Leary: “You just want to hear, like, somebody genuinely say, ‘What can I do? Can I help?'”

Michelle Pfeiffer: “‘Let me take this trash out.'”

Denis Leary: “Yeah.”

Michelle Pfeiffer: “Not even ask. ‘Oh, I see the trash needs emptying. Let me get that. Oh, let me load the dishwasher.'”

Deco tags along as Zedd takes Architectural Digest inside his Los Angeles home https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-tags-along-as-zedd-takes-architectural-digest-inside-his-los-angeles-home/ Sat, 29 Nov 2025 00:30:05 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1646359 A lot of people put their Christmas decorations up immediately after Thanksgiving … or if you’re like Lynn, after Halloween.

But some people like to wait. Especially if they already have great everyday interior style, like Zedd! The DJ is taking Architectural Digest inside his Los Angeles pad, and Deco’s tagging along for the ride.

Zedd: “What’s up, AD? I’m Zedd. It’s been a while. Come on in.

Zedd: “This house was designed by Jae Omar, an incredible designer. I’m a huge fan, and on the interior decoration side of things, this is the first time I’ve ever worked with an interior designer. His name is John Craywick. He’s been incredible to work with. He was willing to collaborate and really bring my vision to life and not sort of try to place things. So you will notice everything is incredibly cohesive, very simple, very calming.”

Zedd: “We are in the life room lounge of my studio. This is something we built from the ground up, and it’s sort of fulfills my dream of being able to be creative, have a space to make music, and be able to record immediately anywhere I get inspired. So we have the piano, the drums, the guitar; everything is hooked up, ready to go.”

Zedd: “So one of the most amazing things about being here, besides the fact that this is my favorite piano, and I went out and played so many, and this specific one just speaks to me. I can be writing music here and playing, and I get inspired, and then we have this magical box right here. I can just plug a little cable into here or there or by the drums, and I can control my main room from out here.”

Zedd: “Welcome to my main closet, which consists of a shoe wall that I built to house all of my shoes until I got more. This is the shoe that I wore in the ‘Break Free’ music video with Ariana Grande. It’s a very bizarre shoe, and it only has like half of a sole, but I really wanted to keep it as a memory, so this is one of my favorite shoes and memories.”

Zedd: “Thank you, guys, so much for checking out my new house. It’s been a pleasure to show you around, but it is time to get back to work for me. I’ll see you at the next one.”

Music superstars like Shakira, Stevie Nicks, Pentatonix and more to bring the heat to SoFlo in December concerts https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/music-superstars-like-shakira-stevie-nicks-pentatonix-and-more-to-bring-the-heat-to-soflo-in-december-concerts/ Sat, 29 Nov 2025 00:30:02 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1646313 Here’s something that shouldn’t come as a surprise: There’s no snow in the forecast for us this winter. In fact, it’s hotter than ever, but not because of the weather.

Some of the biggest names in music are coming to SoFlo next month, and they’re bringing the heat.

Stevie Nicks (singing): “Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night, and wouldn’t you love to love her?”

The month of December is off to a rockin’ start! Stevie Nicks returns to the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on Dec. 10.

The reigning queen of rock ‘n’; roll was supposed to perform there earlier this year, but she had to postpone it due to a shoulder injury. Previously purchased tickets will be honored.

Brandy and Monica (singing): “I’m sorry that you seem to be confused. He belongs to me. The boy is mine.”

Forget the boy. The stage is theirs! Brandy and Monica are reunited, and it feels so good.

The R&B superstars are bringing “The Boy Is Mine” tour to the Kaseya Center in Downtown Miami on Dec. 13. Special guests include Kelly Rowland and Muni Long.

Pentatonix (singing): “Baby, maybe you and me, yeah, we could be celebrating Christmas in the city. We could go wherever, whatever the weather.”

Celebrate Christmas in the city with Pentatonix! The beloved a cappella group is bringing their annual holiday tour to the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise.

This is Scott Hoying’s first time hitting the road since competing on “Dancing with the Stars” this season. You can hear the group hit those high notes, and maybe bust a move or two, on Dec. 15.

MGK (singing): “Tell me, would you wait for me? Baby, I’m a rolling stone. I got a lot of right in me, but I don’t wanna say this wrong.”

‘Tis the season to sing along and party with MGK! The artist formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly is just one of the many acts playing at this year’s Y100.7 Jingle Ball. Nelly will be there, too. It’s all going down at the Kaseya Center on Dec. 20.

Shakira (singing): “Oh, baby when you talk like that, you make a woman go mad.”

What’s better than one Shakira concert? Two Shakira concerts, of course!

The Latin music legend is performing back-to-back nights at Hard Rock Live on Dec. 27 and 28. It’s part of her “Up Close & Personal” shows, which provide a more intimate experience than her massive world tour stops.

Jonas Brothers (singing): “So don’t get stressed it’s gon’ get figured out. Ooo, deep conversations at the waffle house.”

Say goodbye to 2025 and hello to the Jonas Brothers! These guys are ready to ring in the new year in the 954.

Joe, Nick and Kevin will all hit the stage at Hard Rock Live on Dec. 31 for a two-hour show that kicks off at 10 p.m. The event will be livestreamed exclusively on Samsung TV+ … but why sit and watch it at home, when you can be there in person?

Deco’s Shireen Sandoval takes on 4 recent movie releases as awards season heats up https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/decos-shireen-sandoval-takes-on-4-recent-movie-releases-as-awards-season-heats-up/ Fri, 28 Nov 2025 14:27:47 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1646332 ‘Tis the season … and I’m not just talking about the holidays. It’s the time of year when some of the major award season contenders hit the big screen. Here’s Shireen’s take on four recent films that have critics and audiences buzzing.

Rami Malek (as Douglas Kelley): “He’s highly intelligent, charming, and a narcissist.”

Russell Crowe (as Hermann Göring): “I’m going to escape the hangman’s noose.”

Rami Malek (as Douglas Kelley): “Very sure of yourself.”

Russell Crowe (as Hermann Göring): “No man has ever beaten me.”

Cinema is rooted in history in “Nuremberg.”

Russell Crowe and Rami Malek are locked in a psychological showdown set after the events of World War II.

But it’s Crowe’s performance as Nazi leader Göring that takes center stage. The actor delivers a chilling, career-best performance that showcases he’s still one of Hollywood’s greatest stars.

The competition is stiff, but don’t be surprised if “Nuremberg” emerges as a dark horse this awards season.

Oscar Isaac (as Dr. Victor Frankenstein): “In seeking life, I created death.”

Sometimes the real monster comes from within. That’s a message director Guillermo del Toro explores in his take on “Frankenstein”, starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi.

The film tackles heavy themes of generational trauma, forgiveness and what it means to be human … all cloaked in del Toro’s signature style. The result is a visually stunning, powerful film that not only entertains but engages its audience.

With its captivating screenplay and extraordinary makeup and costume designs, “Frankenstein” is poised to be all charged up at the Oscars.

Ariana Grande (as Glinda, singing): “I know I’m who I am today because I knew you.”

Witch, please. When it comes to this year’s blockbusters, it doesn’t get any bigger, or greener, than “Wicked: For Good.”

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande return as Elphaba and Glinda in the epic conclusion of the beloved musical. Grande steals the spotlight with a performance that’s equally bubbly, captivating and heartfelt. And her chemistry with Erivo continues to be the real magic behind the movies.

It’s a good film, but the source material’s weaker second act keeps “Wicked: For Good” from flying as high as the first movie.

Paul Mescal (as William Shakespeare): “Is it true? You know everything about a person by touching them here?”

Jessie Buckley (as Agnes): “Not everything.”

The greatest stories can come from tragedy, and that’s definitely the case when it comes to “Hamnet.”

Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal star in this historical drama that explores the love story of William and Agnes Shakespeare … and the loss that inspired one of his greatest masterpieces.

However, this is not his story; it’s hers. Buckley is a force to be reckoned with, delivering an emotional, haunting performance that’s seemingly impossible to compete with.

That, paired with Chloé Zhao’s direction and the film’s message about the healing power of art, makes “Hamnet” a real winner.

Nashbash brings a taste of Music City to Miami Art Week — and it’s much more than country https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/nashbash-brings-a-taste-of-music-city-to-miami-art-week-and-its-much-more-than-country/ Fri, 28 Nov 2025 00:32:34 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1646039 There’s no denying Nashville has a huge country music scene. But that’s not the only genre hitting a high note in the music city. Deco’s getting the 411 on a festival that’s ready to rock the 305 this weekend.

Saddle up and let the good times roll! Miami Art Week is getting off to a rockin’ start, all thanks to Nashbash.

Nashbash organizer: “Nashbash is a one-day festival that showcases the best of Nashville in Miami.”

This event is more than just a concert at the Miami Beach Bandshell. It’s a celebration of the different kinds of music making waves in Tennessee.

Someone: “A lot of people, especially in other states, associate Nashville only with country music. But Nashville is so much more than country. It’s got an incredible alt rock scene, Americana scene, all sorts of genres.”

Maggie Rose (singing): “This life is going to leave you breathless, but you catch it every time.”

One act taking the stage is Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Maggie Rose. She’s one of the festival’s co-headliners. And you can count on her to bring the soul and Americana vibes.

Nashbash organizer: “She is one of the most incredible voices that leaves people’s jaws on the floor.”

Also on the lineup is alternative rock band Moon Taxi.

Trevor Terndrup (singing): “If you’re a little bit scared, be a little bit brave. Don’t ever be afraid to say what you gotta say.”

They’re closing out the event, and they’re super excited to play their first show in Miami Beach.

Trevor Terndrup: “It’s our first time there, so we wanna get it right.”

But that’s not the only reason they can’t wait to come to the 305.

Trevor Terndrup: “We’re stoked because it actually snowed here in Nashville this morning, so Miami in November sounds pretty awesome to us.”

Moon Taxi has played major festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella. So they know what it takes to get the crowd hyped up.

Trevor Terndrup: “The music is diverse. It’s really dance-y. It’s sing-along, it’s engaging, and it’s perfect for beach vibes.”

Trevor Terndrup (singing): “Once we’re gone, this place won’t be the same. We’ll go down together in the hall of fame.”

Nash Bash is going down this Sunday.

Brendan Fraser talks about overcoming apathy, making connections in new dramedy, ‘Rental Family’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/brendan-fraser-talks-about-overcoming-apathy-making-connections-in-new-dramedy-rental-family/ Sat, 22 Nov 2025 03:00:23 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1644390 When you’re little, playing make-believe is easy. As you get older, pretending to be someone you’re not is weird and you may need help. Brendan Fraser, on the other hand, does it for a living and he’s pretty good at it, especially in his new movie “Rental Family.” He’s telling Deco all about it.

There are no small roles, but there are unusual gigs and unexpected circumstances.

Brendan Fraser is playing the part in the new dramedy “Rental Family.”

He portrays a struggling actor living in Japan, who finds work at an agency that hires real life stand-ins.

The roles may be fake, but Brendan says the genuine connections and purpose his character finds along the way are very real.

Brendan Fraser: “A pretty basic rule for any performer is that as long as you believe what you’re doing, your audience will too. And sometimes, there’s no acting required.”

“Rental Family” shows the actor playing many different parts, depending on what the clients are looking for. But as the lines between performance and reality blur, something universal emerges.

Brendan Fraser: “It’s a love letter to loneliness. It’s addressed to Tokyo, but it could be anywhere in the world. It could be in Miami. It’s very likely it is. It’s possible to feel secluded in a very busy place. And it’s important to reach out and ask for help.”

Because sometimes, people can be their own worst enemies, and the battles they fight are internal.

Brendan Fraser: “There’s no villain in this movie, for instance, apart from our own human apathy if you think about it. You gonna do something about this or not? That’s the obstacle.”

“Rental Family” is in theaters now and the time of year that coincides with the release isn’t lost on Brendan.

So if you’re feeling a little stressed this holiday season, he says life can imitate art.

Brendan Fraser: “If your own family is driving you up the wall, you can come and rent one with me for a couple of hours in Tokyo. I promise you, you’ll walk away feeling a little bit different, in a better mood, than you were when you walked in the door.”

Deco’s Alex Miranda speaks with Glen Powell in star-studded event unveiling Omega’s newest watches https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/decos-alex-miranda-speaks-with-glen-powell-in-star-studded-event-unveiling-omegas-newest-watches/ Thu, 20 Nov 2025 02:49:50 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1643532 The right accessory can make or break an outfit, and when it comes to men’s watches, Omega is at the top of their game. And so is Glen Powell. “The Running Man” star was in SoFlo celebrating the brand’s new “Planet Ocean” collection. Deco’s Alex Miranda watched them so we could watch him.

Alex: “You are ambassador for Omega watches, which is just clutch. How would you describe this time in your life? You must be over the moon.”

Glen Powell: “What’s really fun is I’m just kind of getting to take this entire journey in, you never know how far this thing’s gonna take you and I’m getting to do the job that I love.”

Alex: “It’s a really big week for you, not just here on Miami Beach, but in general, ‘Wicked: For Good’ is out this week.”

Colman Domingo: “Running Man” is out in theaters as well.”

Alex: “Exactly. It’s history-making right now. So how are you feeling and what can you tell us about the cowardly lion?”

Colman Domingo: “I feel great and the cowardly lion is so beloved and I’m really, really proud to be a part of ‘Wicked: For Good.'”

Alex: “What’s your vibe when you’re in the 305?”

Taylor Zakhar Perez: “In the 305, dale. I feel like it’s the most colorful city in the United States. I love how much Spanish is spoken everywhere, like at lunch and dinner tables.”

Diego Boneta: “There’s something about this city where I feel at home. The first movie I ever shot with Tom Cruz, we shot here, and then years later with Luis Miguel was just, like, it was a before and after in my life.”

Glen Powell: “They spent so much time getting this orange particular, and they know that orange is my favorite color.”

Alex: “It’s a good orange. That could be the best orange I’ve ever seen.”

Glen Powell: “It makes me so happy.”

Step into the 1950s for some burgers, fritas and Cuban-American flair at El Cuban Diner https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/step-into-the-1950s-for-some-burgers-fritas-and-cuban-american-flair-at-el-cuban-diner/ Wed, 19 Nov 2025 02:37:45 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1643163 Things from the past always have a way of coming back in style and not just when it comes to fashion. Deco’s checking out a nifty spot in the 305 that’s rolling back the clock to the good old happy days. Poodle skirts and leather jackets optional.

Vintage vibes and a roarin’ good time.

Order up! El Cuban Diner is serving up the classics with a side of nostalgia in Little Havana.

Earl Campos Devine: “We want to bring back the idea of the diners from the 1950s, but also the Cuban DNA that we have in our company.”

Talk about a blast from the past!

The restaurant is inspired by pre-revolutionary Cuba, mixed with that old Americana aesthetic.

Earl Campos Devine: “Everything is sourced, and it’s authentic. You’re gonna see Coca Cola because that’s an emblem, right? And then we have the booths, we have the chrome tables. We have a vintage Coca Cola fridge that you can actually, like in the past, just grab it and pay for it.”

The decor isn’t the only thing with a retro flair.

The menu is also full of old school faves and traditional dishes.

Eliesteban Mena: “We started thinking hot dogs and the American burger and, after that, we link it with the Cuban heritage, like a Cuban sandwich, frita Cubana.”

You can never go wrong with a classic burger and this place is serving ’em in two styles.

Eliesteban Mena: “We use American wagyu ground beef, eight ounces. The bun is brioche, beautiful with fresh vegetables, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions.”

The Cuban version, AKA “la frita,” is a little different.

Eliesteban Mena: “The patty made with beef, made with pork, made with chorizo. We grill it and we serve it with the bread and some aioli and potato sticks too.”

Emely Martinez: “I think it was delicious. It had chorizo in it, which I’m a fan of. It went so well with the fries as well, so I really enjoyed it. “

Other biggies include the Chicago-style dogs and sandwiches.

And to help you wash it all down, think milkshakes and fun floats!

Eliesteban Mena: “If you go to the time, to the ’50s in Cuba, you can find la vaca negra and we serve it here. It’s a soda with the ice cream, vanilla ice cream inside.”

And trust me, this float fizzes, which makes it even more fun to drink!

Emely Martinez: “I have a huge sweet tooth usually after I eat, so I think it’s, like, the perfect little touch you can have after your lunch, especially with the frita. And I think it was delicious. I have nothing but great things to say. I feel like it’s so unique and there’s not really any place like this in Miami.”

The Horsemen reunite to pull off their greatest trick yet in thriller sequel, ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/the-horsemen-reunite-to-pull-off-their-greatest-trick-yet-in-thriller-sequel-now-you-see-me-now-you-dont/ Sat, 15 Nov 2025 02:41:56 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1642298 “Abracadabra” isn’t just a great Lady Gaga song; it’s a magic word magicians have been using for years. But instead of pulling a rabbit out of a hat, Deco’s using it to summon Jesse Eisenberg and Justice Smith to the 305 to talk about their new movie, “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.”

Reunited, and it feels so good! Or does it?

Justice Smith as Charlie: “You guys used to be the Horsemen.”

Ariana Greenblatt as June: “Why did you break up?”

Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney: “We made some huge mistakes. We got cocky.”

The Horsemen may be bickering, but they still have each other’s backs in “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.”

Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson and Isla Fisher are pulling off their greatest magic trick yet: A third installment in this spell-binding franchise!

Jesse Eisenberg: “It is probably the only fun I have professionally, is doing these movies. Most of the parts I play are just depressive people.”

Jesse’s not afraid to show his cards.

He loves these movies as much as fans do!

Jesse Eisenberg: “They’re celebrating cleverness and teamwork. We’re not trying to kill something. It’s like a movie that is pure and sweet and has great heart and is also a big magic trick.”

This time, the Horsemen are targeting a dangerous diamond dealer, and a heist this big calls for reinforcements. Like Justice Smith!

Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Atlas: “Charlie, June and Bozo.”

Justice Smith as Charlie: “It’s Bosco. Bosco Leroy.”

Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Atlas: “What, did you type fictional magician name into ChatGPT?”

Aw, it’s like one big, dysfunctional family! On screen and off…

Justice Smith: “Woody is definitely crazy uncle.”

Jesse Eisenberg: “Yes. Isla yells at me in a maternal way.”

Justice Smith: “Jesse I would say is like older cousin from like my dad’s side who I don’t see often, but every time I do, we go into the woods and smoke a joint and talk about philosophy “

And when it comes to father figures…

Jesse Eisenberg: “The father has to be Morgan Freeman.

Justice Smith: “Well there you go. Yes, definitely the father figure is Morgan Freeman.”

Jesse Eisenberg: “Morgan Freeman, like when you meet him, you feel like, ‘Oh, maybe he’s my dad.'”

The “Now You See Me” movies are full of magic but when it comes to a kind of trick these guys would like to see in future films…

Justice Smith: “Have you guys done the saw in half thing?”

Jesse Eisenberg: “No!”

Justice Smith: “That’s just a classic, like I feel like that should be done in some cool way.”

Jesse Eisenberg: “That would be good. You’re right, it’s like the perfect thing for a movie too.”

Step into the world of Oz for a wicked brunch at The Social Club in Miami Beach https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/step-into-the-world-of-oz-for-a-wicked-brunch-at-the-social-club-in-miami-beach/ Fri, 14 Nov 2025 01:04:43 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1641938 Something wicked this way comes! We know you can’t wait until the new movie hits theaters this month so we found a special event that’s sure to be a witchin’ good time.

Halloween may be over but with “Wicked: For Good” hitting theaters very soon, it’s still the season of the witches for fans!

And that calls for a spell-binding celebration!

Ariana Grande as Glinda: “Here’s the plan. I have no plan.”

Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba: “Well, I do.”

Ariana Grande as Glinda: “Oh, thank Oz.”

The plan is a wickedly fun brunch!

And The Social Club at the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach is totally in on it.

Victoria Palacio: “It’s a fun theatrical experience for guests to sip, sing and step into the Emerald City, all before the movie comes out Nov. 21.”

Ariana Grande as Glinda: “No! No way! I’m obsessed-ulated.”

Me too, Glinda!

Because this isn’t your basic brunch experience.

Victoria Palacio: “We’re gonna decorate the restaurant with all things wicked. They can expect themed food, drinks and some activities, such as friendship bracelets, because Glinda and Elphaba are best friends.”

We’re talking witch hats, tiaras, temporary tattoos and even magical photo ops for you and your besties.

And the menu is just as fun.

Victoria Palacio: “Our team has come up with a really whimsical menu inspired by the world of Oz. We have the ‘Wicked Witch Benny,’ which features a black sesame biscuit, poached eggs and green hollandaise and smoked salmon.”

That one comes topped with a parmesan cheese witch hat.

There’s also the Oz-dust ballroom toast with rose-shaped avocado and radish stars.

And for a sweet treat, take a bite out of the matcha pancakes with yummy whipped cream.

Victoria Palacio: “We wanted to keep it very vibrant and bright just because we know that, with the world of Oz, it’s all colorful.”

And speaking of colorful, check out these showstopping cocktails!

Victoria Palacio: “For the Glinda-inspired cocktail, we created the ‘Popular Potion.’ It’s bright pink and perfectly bubbly just like her.”

The pink drink is vodka-based.

And the bold, emerald Elphie drink is made with rum.

Victoria Palacio: “This is a perfect drink to get with a friend because pink goes good with green.”

Now that’s worth toasting too. Cheers!

The “Wicked” brunch at The Social Club is going down this Saturday.

Luminosa to light up the night at Jungle Island with hundreds of lanterns for a 4th year https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/luminosa-to-light-up-the-night-at-jungle-island-with-hundreds-of-lanterns-for-a-4th-year/ Wed, 12 Nov 2025 03:03:21 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1641181 Rihanna wants you to shine bright like a diamond, and Katy Perry wants you to own the night like a firework on the Fourth of July. That’s cool and all, but here in SoFlo, there’s an annual festival that’s shining a light on the 305. Deco’s going wild and getting illuminated at Luminosa.

Glow with the flow, and take a walk on the wild side.

Luminosa is back for its fourth year, and it’s ready to light up the night at Jungle Island.

Netzach Sanchez: “It’s actually a Chinese lantern festival, and it includes a bunch of hundreds of different lanterns of different shapes and sizes that’ll be displayed throughout Jungle Island.”

But these aren’t your average, traditional lanterns.

Netzach Sanchez: “Every single lantern is made using about 160 tons of steel, 200,000 feet of fabric and 58,000 thousand LED lights, so it completely transforms Jungle Island after dark.”

This year’s theme is all about bringing a little magic and adventure to the 305.

Netzach Sanchez: “We’re actually taking guests on a trip through the world’s most mystical places — anywhere from the Amazon rainforest to ancient Egypt, African savannas and even an ice kingdom.”

And when it comes to the displays…

Netzach Sanchez: “There’s gonna be a lot of life-size animals, but also some are gonna be a lot larger than life, for sure. We’re also gonna have some hanging elements around, including flowers, different foliage and everything.”

Luminosa is also making the experience even more whimsical by bringing something new to Jungle Island.

Netzach Sanchez: “We’re actually introducing some animatronics and very interactive lanterns that kids are gonna be able to play with. It’s gonna be fun for families and friends.”

And now that you know what to expect, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to bask in the glow of these gleaming lanterns.

Netzach Sanchez: “If you’re coming to Luminosa for the first time, I definitely recommend taking about two to three hours to walk the entire park to really be fully immersed in everything.”

The festival is the perfect Zen zone if you need an escape from the hustle and bustle of this time of year.

Netzach Sanchez: “It’s so Zen and so relaxing. In a place where it’s such a busy city, and there’s so much going on. I think this is a great place to come with family, friends, everyone of all ages to really just relax during the night.”

Luminosa kicks off Nov. 14 and runs through March 7. Jungle Island will also have a holiday village until Jan. 4.

Ke Huy Quan slithers into ‘Zootopia 2’ to smash stereotypes with his big heart for Thanksgiving release https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/ke-huy-quan-slithers-into-zootopia-2-to-smash-stereotypes-with-his-big-heart-for-thanksgiving-release/ Fri, 07 Nov 2025 01:06:54 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1639036 Something scaly this way comes! A new kind of animal is slithering into the Zootopia universe. But have no fear, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are on the case!

Idris Elba playing Chief Gary in “Zootopia 2”: “Bunny, Fox, this is a make-or-break assignment. Fail, and I will split you up.”

Jason Bateman playing Nick Wilde in “Zootopia 2”: “No snake has set foot in Zootopia in forever.”

Ginnifer Goodwin playing Judy Hopps in “Zootopia 2”: “Hopps and Wilde.”

Jason Bateman playing Nick Wilde in “Zootopia 2”: “Wilde and Hopps.”

Forever is an awfully short time in Zootopia 2 because in the sequel, a mysterious reptile is turning the mammal oasis upside down!

Meet Gary! His presence has the city and all its residents on edge.

But Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan, who voices the slithery guy, stopped by the 305 to tell Deco why you shouldn’t judge a book by its scaly cover.

Ke Huy Quan: “His reputation precedes him, and that’s what makes people afraid of him. But once we get to know him, you realize that ‘Hey, he’s just a really good, goofy, you know, a big heart kind of a guy.’ This movie really invites the audience to look beyond the stereotypes, the bias, the labels.”

Preach, Ke!

“Zootopia 2” hits theatres Nov. 26, right in time for Thanksgiving weekend.

Glen Powell: “Ain’t it fun?”

Fun for us fans to watch? Definitely!

Fun for the characters, like Ben Richards, who are just trying to survive? Not so much!

Ben isn’t just fighting for his family — he’s fighting against an authoritarian system and network propaganda that aims to keep the population under control and in the dark.

Glen Powell: “Ben is a guy who’s just trying to show up for his family and then sort of realizes that his problems, the frustrations he feels, the power that’s pushing him down is the power that’s pushing everybody down.”

And that makes him the face of a movement, whether he wants it or not.

Glen Powell: “There’s a frustration about everyone going, ‘Oh, man, you represent something to the world, you know, you’re important. You’re an important piece of how we take this thing down.'”

Easier said than done, because every good chase needs an elite hunter.

And “The Running Man’s” top guy comes in the form of Lee Pace and all his 6 foot, 5 glory.

Just don’t expect to see much of his face.

Lee Pace: “I really recommend wearing a mask, especially if you’re gonna do evil things.”

The mask doesn’t stop the character from hamming it up for the cameras, though.

Lee Pace: “The character was just cool. Like, he’s just relaxed. He’s surrounded by violence, and he’s completely unbothered. And I thought that was, you know, funny.”

The film is a passion project for director Edgar Wright, who has wanted to do his version of the Stephen King novel for years.

Edgar Wright: “Elements of the book remained really powerful to me and really vivid in my head, so to actually get to put them on screen is just like, you know, like a gift.”

It’s a gift for Glen too, especially at this point in his career.

Glen Powell: “I’ve always been sort of the underdog in this town, you know, I’ve been doing this a really long time. I’ve been doing this since I was 10 years old. What you do realize is to kind of look after people. When you’re on set, I get to be the one who’s looking after the crew and looking after your fellow cast members and really making sure you do it right.”

Want to get a running start and see “The Running Man” before everyone else? Deco’s giving away tickets for an advance screening of the movie on Monday, Nov. 10 at Regal Kendall Village. For a chance to win, send your name and phone number to giveaways@wsvn.com.

Legendary actor Ethan Hawke was in town Sunday, accepting an award from “Miami Film Festival GEMS” and Variety.

Ethan Hawke: “I’m so happy to be here. I’m so honored to accept this. I’ve never been to Miami before, so this is my, let the party begin!”

Keep calm and party on!

Ethan received the “Variety Virtuoso Award” for his achievements in film, theater, and television over the last three decades.

Deco caught up with the leading man himself to dish about “Blue Moon” — his ninth movie with director Richard Linklater and the lasting legacy of his body of work.

Ethan Hawke: “A lot of the work I’ve done with Linklater it’s almost like I’m playing with the same band, but I’m playing a different instrument this time. What he’s asking me to do is different than I’ve ever been asked to do before.”

Ethan Hawke: “People like to make a big deal about awards and things like that, and they are nice and it’s amazing, but what is really significant is when somebody comes up to you and talks to you about a movie that you made 25 years ago.”

“Blue Moon” is in theaters now. The Miami Film Festival GEMS runs through Wednesday.

Make your own Halloween treats on this chocolatey SoFlo factory tour https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/make-your-own-halloween-treats-on-this-chocolatey-soflo-factory-tour/ Fri, 31 Oct 2025 01:40:07 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1636627 Chocolate is a Halloween staple. But have you ever wondered what goes into making that delicious, ooey, gooey, melty goodness? Well — wonder no more! Because one SoFlo chocolate shop is serving up the ultimate spooktacular experience.

You don’t have to go trick-or-treating to score something sweet this Halloween.

Exquisito Chocolates in Miami is mixing up tasty treats in the 305.

Carolina Quijano: “We’re Miami’s first chocolate factory, so we actually self-produce all the chocolate onsite from cacao we bring from different farms in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

Forget Willy Wonka, because this place churns out about 1,000 pounds of chocolate a week and they’re serving up some fun flavors for Halloween.

Carolina Quijano: “We love Halloween, so we do a lot of candy treats using Americana candies, everything from Twix to Snickers that we make in house, but monster themed.”

But it’s not just about what you can buy.

Carolina Quijano: “For our tours and classes, we have a ‘make your own chocolate skulls’ class. You get to actually paint your own skull and give it your own flair. So it’s always fun to see people’s creative side come out. So they use the same paint that we use to make our chocolate bon bons.”

No tricks here!

Exquisito’s tour and classes aren’t just educational, they’re delicious.

And the only thing wicked about them is how wickedly good everything smells.

Go on, take a whiff! Okay, okay, lock in.

Because it’s time to channel your inner Picasso and decorate those choco skulls!

Carolina Quijano: “If you wanna do different types of designs like we do, what we do is, you flick ’em.”

Now that’s what I call an edible work of art!

Jessica Argente: “I love to do water colors with my son and that’s been one of the things we’ve been playing around with at home, so it was really cool to put edible paint onto chocolate, and I’m gonna take that home and share it with him.”

Exquisito offers a variety of tours, classes and “make your own chocolate” experiences.

Deco sits down with J. Lo to discuss playing three roles in Broadway musical ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-sits-down-with-j-lo-to-discuss-playing-three-roles-in-broadway-musical-kiss-of-the-spider-woman/ Thu, 09 Oct 2025 00:16:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1630671 A lot of movies have great soundtracks … but they don’t have J. Lo starring on screen and in the recording booth. “Kiss of the Spider Woman” has both. Deco’s hitting the high notes with Jennifer Lopez herself and the rest of the cast.

It’s not just a musical, it’s a theatrical experience.

And getting to be part of it? That’s music to Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna and Tonatiuh’s ears!

Jennifer Lopez: “Honestly, I remember being on the set with Tona and Diego, and Diego saying, ‘We maybe should only do musicals from now on,’ like, he was like, ‘This is all we wanted to do for the rest of our lives.'”

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” is an adaptation of the Broadway musical.

It follows two inmates — a political prisoner and a queer window dresser — who form an unlikely bond while sharing a cell in Argentina.

Think of it as a movie within a movie, because the story alternates between the harsh reality they face and the fantasy world they escape to, by recounting the plot of a classic film.

Tonatiuh: “It felt like we went backwards in time, especially stepping into that old, classic Hollywood world.”

Jennifer Lopez: “The sets, yes.”

Tonatiuh: “Putting on those clothes. Both of us love singing in the rain, and there was this moment where it’s just like, ‘Are we in this?’ We both get to live in this fantasy world.”

Jennifer Lopez (singing): “We are dancing!”

The film explores themes of sexuality, politics, love and human connection.

Diego tells Deco he relished the opportunity to dive in.

Diego Luna: “Valentín and Molina, they give themselves the opportunity to connect in the worst circumstances. And to me, that’s a beautiful reminder of how love has to be present and part of everything we do.”

We already know J.Lo is a triple threat, but the film gives her the chance to show off her skills.

She’s not just singing, dancing, and acting; she’s playing three roles.

Jennifer Lopez: “They’re all very different. You have the strong, powerful, larger-than-life superstar singing and dancing actress, whom he gets to escape with into these movies. And then you have Aurora, who’s kind of a more fragile woman, who feels like she’s cursed and can’t get love right. And then you have the spider woman, who will get the kiss, knowing that she’s gonna kill somebody but wants it more than anything, so you have, like, these three different sides of love.”

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” is now playing in theaters.

SoFlo spots are raising a glass and painting the town pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/soflo-spots-are-raising-a-glass-and-painting-the-town-pink-in-support-of-breast-cancer-awareness-month/ Sat, 04 Oct 2025 00:05:04 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1629374 October isn’t just about Halloween and fall vibes. It’s also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Deco’s checking out a few SoFlo spots that are painting the town pink and raising money for charity.

Ariana Grande as Glinda in “Wicked”: “Pink goes good with green.”

Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba in “Wicked”: “It goes well with green.”

Ariana Grande as Glinda in “Wicked”: “It so does.”

You know what else goes well with pink? Toasting to a good cause!

Coyo Taco in Coral Gables is raising a glass to Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a brand new drink.

Christian Rubio: “Our drink is called ‘La Rosita,’ and we created it with UNA Vodka. It’s a vodka created by women.”

“La rosita” means little rose.

That’s fitting because…

Christian Rubio: “It’s a vodka infused with rose petals.”

This frozen cocktail also has strawberry, lemon juice and simple syrup all blended together.

“La Rosita” goes great with any of Coyo’s tacos. But the best part comes from knowing you’re giving back, while you drink it down.

Christian Rubio: “For every bottle we use to make this drink, UNA Vodka is donating $2 to ‘F Cancer Foundation.'”

Sip, sip, hooray!

Phuc Yea in Miami is mixing up something special.

Cesar Zapata: “We want you to have fun. We want you to eat delicious food, drink amazing cocktails, and just have fun.”

The restaurant Mi Chini Bar has some new additions benefitting UM cancer research.

I’ll drink to that!

Ivan Miadziolko: “The Mezcal Cosmo is gonna be one of our signature cocktails here at Mi Chini. It’s got a little bit of Campari and some sal de gusano, so it’s gonna be like a savory kind of Cosmo. Very tart, but very flavorful.”

There’s also a mocktail paying tribute chef Cesar’s sister, who’s a breast cancer survivor.

Ivan Miadziolko: “We use a non-alcoholic spirit, agave based spirit called Almave, so that’s gonna be the base for our passion fruit margarita. And it’s gonna be topped off with a little bit of ginger beer, just for that extra bite.”

A smoothie a day keeps the bad vibes away at Carrot Express in Coconut Grove.

Alberto Bassal: “Carrot Express has been in Miami, and now in New York as well, for the last 20 years in Miami. We have about 30 locations and we specialize in healthy food.”

Healthy food also includes sweet treats, like the new strawberry sunrise smoothie.

Alberto Bassal:”It has yogurt, overnight oats and strawberry, of course. It’s very vibrant. It’s very filling and it’s gonna help you power through the rest of day.”

It’s also gonna make you feel good in more ways than one, because…

Alberto Bassal: “We are donating 25% of the proceeds of the sale of that new smoothie to Susan G. Komen.”

Deco sits down with Tonatiuh to discuss playing two roles in musical, ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-sits-down-with-tonatiuh-to-discuss-playing-two-roles-in-musical-kiss-of-the-spider-woman/ Fri, 03 Oct 2025 01:52:53 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1628994 Every story needs a good soundtrack. Lucky for us, Jennifer Lopez’s new movie “Kiss of the Spider Woman” comes with its own. That’s because it’s a musical. Deco got to hit the high notes with one of the stars of the film.

Lights, camera, action!

Diego Luna (as Valentín Arregui): “Wait, you throw us right in. We know nothing about the story or the characters.”

Tonatiuh (as Luis Molina): “Don’t you like to dream, at least a little?”

Hang on, we’re getting to that! Because “Kiss of the Spider Woman” isn’t your average movie.

Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna and Tonatiuh are bringing a Broadway classic back to the big screen.

The film follows two prisoners: A political revolutionary and a gay window dresser, who form an unlikely bond over the magic of music and movies.

Tonatiuh: “The theater kids inside of us were just alive.”

Deco caught up with Tonatiuh, who plays Molina, during his recent visit to Miami.

You’d think starring alongside JLo and Diego would be intimidating, but he says the three of them were having too much fun to worry about being nervous!

Tonatiuh: “The dynamic on set was fantastic. All three of us were living our dream. We got to tell a dynamic story, playing two different movies altogether, do a naturalistic acting style and then also go into a 1940s musical.”

The two movies in question are the film’s different settings: The actual prison cell the men share and the fantasy world Molina creates by telling the story of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite actress.

He says it was important to him for his characters to have contrasting looks.

Tonatiuh: “We first shot the musical, and then we transitioned over to the prison cell. And there was a certain weight and aesthetic that I wanted to create by losing about 45 pounds in 50 days. So it was really about thinking, ‘How do I get my face to look masculine and healthy for this portion of the film?’ And then, ‘How do we get to a genderless expression by the second half?'”

Unlike in musicals, people don’t generally burst out into song in real life, although maybe they should. Which begs the question: What song would Tonatiuh want people to start singing when he enters a room?

Tonatiuh: “Cardi B ‘Get Up 10’ is an anthem that I live by. It is like a warrior song, when she walks in she’s like, ‘I’m the one that’s killin’ [expletive,] hands down.'”

Rosalia’s Kitchen brings many frights and bites to their spooky menu for Halloween https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/rosalias-kitchen-brings-many-frights-and-bites-to-their-spooky-menu-for-halloween/ Thu, 02 Oct 2025 00:13:58 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1628581 My K-pop calendar tells me it’s finally October and even though it’s still a million degrees outside here in SoFlo, there’s still a spooky season chill in the air. Halloween is still weeks away but Deco’s Alex Miranda is checking out a local restaurant that’s celebrating it early by transforming itself into the ultimate, spooktacular spot.

The Nightmare before Christmas film: “This is Halloween, this is Halloween. Pumpkin scream in the dead of night.”

You can’t visit this Halloween town during the month of October.

Halloweentown film: “Mom said they were just pretend. Dylan, this is Halloweentown, just like the book!”

Or this one.

But here in SoFlo, we’ve got the next best thing!

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta: “Out with the summer and in with the spooky season.”

Over the summer, Rosalia’s Kitchen in Miramar made a big splash with their mermaid and under the seas themed decor.

But now, it’s all about gourd vibes and fright nights.

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta: “The kingdom of the mermaids started, like, crumbling around them and then started featuring the witch that came in and took over the whole restaurant.”

This place is decked out in spook-tacular designs.

Think scary skeletons, haunted portraits and of course…

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta: “The standout pieces are our giant spider in the middle, which is handmade. We also have all of the portals on the wall, which you can see are like tingling lights. We also have our hallway, which is a beautiful installation inspired a little bit by Harry Potter, so we have some of the candles that are floating, some witch hats.”

And it’s not just the space that got a haunting makeover.

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta: “Each season, four times a year, we change our decorations and our menus just to go with what’s going on around the world.”

We’re talking bewitching fall items like the “Crypt Keeper’s Harvest Salad” with butternut squash, the “Phantom Pumpkin Ravioli” and the “Bewitching Garden” veggie flatbread.

Also casting a spell on guests: The witch’s brews, AKA the themed cocktails.

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta: “We have ‘Bite Me Like You Mean It,’ which is a red hibiscus margarita, and it’s the vampire lover that the witch had and she just turned him into a drink. We also have the ‘Witch is Working Overtime,’ which is an actual 3D-printed witch that sits on the edge of the cup.”

This one’s especially magical, because it changes color right before your eyes!.

I’ll drink and eat to that! ‘Tis the season, after all!

Rosalia’s Kitchen will have their Halloween decorations up through Nov. 2. Their Christmas decor drops on Nov. 4.

Reservations are highly encouraged.

Wynwood’s ARTXSPACE brings a unique immersive experience to your wellness journey https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/wynwoods-artxspace-brings-a-unique-immersive-experience-to-your-wellness-journey/ Tue, 30 Sep 2025 00:09:06 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1627380 Breathe in, breathe out. These days, it’s pretty easy to feel stressed out, and sometimes, a basic yoga or meditation session just doesn’t cut it. Deco’s checking out a spot that’s combining art, technology and wellness into an experience that will immerse you in the Zen Zone.

That’s the spirit. ARTXSPACE wants to breathe new life into your journey of self-discovery.

Ebu Turhan: “This is gonna be breath work and silent disco, a little bit of yoga, too. So we’re gonna see videos that are more relaxing, more dark, that you can concentrate on.”

This digital art space in Wynwood is mixing things up by offering immersive wellness events in the 305. You might think of it as resetting your chakras, with a multisensory touch.

Ebu Turhan: “Wellness community is huge in Miami. That’s why we wanted to do something cool and then provide different experience that’s never been done before. So when people come here, they really disconnect with 360 projection mapping, immersive room.”

Andreina Carvo (instructing class): “Take advantage of the visuals. They will help you get deeper into that disconnect.”

Get ready to be guided through immersive breath bwork, sounds and visuals designed to make you feel stress-free.

Andreina Carvo: “We start with a kind of warm-up flow — with a little bit of yoga, mobility and flexibility — to help them get into that deep relaxation state that we want for the breath work that comes after. Breath work is different from yoga. It’s something that doesn’t necessarily require you to move, and it’s something that goes deeper into the body, into the sensations, into the physical benefits, and it’s a practice that you can do for 10, 20, 30 minutes.”

They even throw in silent disco headphones to tune out the noise, so you don’t get distracted from your mission.

Andreina Carvo: “We do a mix of the voice of the instructor, in this case myself, with the music. So we designed a really curated playlist that will take you from the ups and downs of the feelings of the class, and you can hear that plus the voice in the headphones, so it’s fully immersive.”

Because the whole point of the exercise is to be one with yourself. Namaste.

Andreina Carvo: “And if at some point you’re feeling too stimulated by the lights, you can place it over your eyes, OK?”

Ebu Turhan: “In that room, it’s very disconnected. There is nothing that can disturb you, so you really focus, and the videos help you to concentrate.”

Andreina Carvo: “At the end of the day, the more attention we pay to our minds, the healthier our bodies gonna be.”

ARTXSPACE has different wellness events every Tuesday and Saturday. Tuesday’s session is a yogi-lates immersive experience, which is combining yoga and pilates.

Masked strangers continue to haunt and hunt Madelaine Petsch in horror sequel ‘The Strangers — Chapter 2’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/masked-strangers-continue-to-haunt-and-hunt-madelaine-petsch-in-horror-sequel-the-strangers-chapter-2/ Sat, 27 Sep 2025 00:00:56 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1621842 It’s the most wonderful time of the year — for Halloween lovers, that is. This weekend, there’s a new horror film hitting the big screen that’s kicking off the spooky season in just the right way. Deco caught up with scream queen Madelaine Petsch when she paid a visit to the 305.

If you thought you had seen the last of The Strangers, guess again.

Madelaine Petsch is still being haunted — and hunted — in “The Strangers — Chapter 2.”

The horror sequel picks up right where “Chapter 1” left off, with Maya being targeted by the mysterious Scarecrow, Dollface and Pinup girl killers.

I guess maybe the attacks aren’t so random after all, huh?

Madelaine Petsch: “They don’t like to lose. So it’s not even necessarily personal to Maya, it’s that they are unwilling to not be successful.”

Maya is the only person to ever survive an attack by The Strangers … and Mister Scarecrow seems to have taken that personally.

Madelaine Petsch: “There’s something about Maya that specifically, like, grinds his gears, and that really needs to, like, be handled for him. Whatever that means, in whatever capacity.”

Madelaine gets put through the wringer in this film, but she tells Deco she was up for the challenge.

Madelaine Petsch: “I knew what I was signing on for, and I honestly liked it. It’s more fun as an actor to do more things, so the more challenge the better, honestly. But I also knew this is what we needed to get her to that final place in Movie Three where she ends up.”

That’s right! This is Chapter Two of Three in the new trilogy, which was all shot at the same time.

OK girl, we’ve got to know: After fighting for your life on the big screen, how are your survival skills in real life?

Madelaine Petsch: “Madelaine right now, like the idea of being, I would just lay down. I’d be like, ‘I don’t care.’ I say that now, but then, if I was actually faced with that, I wanna live. I’m gonna run, I’m gonna fight, I’m gonna do whatever I can. So I guess, hopefully, we never have to find out.”

Spoken like a true final girl!

Madelaine does have a fave when it comes to the trope.

Madelaine Petsch: “I love Jamie Lee Curtis in “Halloween.” I think that she’s, like, the iconic final girl, honestly.”

But she also hopes Maya will join that club when the franchise wraps.

Madelaine Petsch: “The nice thing is, we had three movies to create the final girl. We were able to develop her over time, so you believe where she gets to by the end of Movie Three. That, I believe, would be the blessing of these films.”

“The Strangers — Chapter 2” is now showing in theaters.

Actor Billy Zane reveals how he transformed into iconic ‘Godfather’ star in ‘Waltzing with Brando’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/actor-billy-zane-reveals-how-he-transformed-into-iconic-godfather-star-in-waltzing-with-brando/ Sat, 20 Sep 2025 02:27:01 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1619310 Telling someone’s life story is no walk in the park, especially when the person is someone as beloved and revered as Marlon Brando … but that’s a challenge actor Billy Zane was willing to take in his new movie “Waltzing with Brando.”

Playing the “Godfather” star? It was an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Actor in “The Godfather”: “For justice, we must go to Don Corleone.”

Billy Zane (as Marlon Brando playing Vito Corleone): “Then why’d you go to the police? Why didn’t you come to me first?”

It’s Billy Zane like you’ve never seen him before.

Jon Heder (as Bernard Judge): “You’re – you’re Marlon Brando.”

Billy Zane (as Marlon Brando): “Can you swim?”

Jon Heder (as Bernard Judge): “Yes.”

Billy Zane (as Marlon Brando): “Drop those drawers. What’s the matter? You’re not one of those uplight L.A. architects, are you?”

The actor undergoes a total transformation in the new biopic “Waltzing with Brando,” where he portrays Hollywood legend Marlon Brando.

Billy Zane: “When I saw what we had achieved, you know, and I held up, obviously, very strong scrutiny for it, I was blown away by the collective work.”

Dick Cavett: “Were you happy with the way ‘The Godfather’ came out?”

Billy Zane (as Marlon Brando): “I don’t think that’s really worth talking about.”

Playing one of the most prolific actors in cinematic history may seem daunting, but Billy tells Deco he wasn’t fazed by the pressure.

Billy Zane: “The only way to approach this character was to not obsess over the insane responsibility of it.”

And there was definitely no method acting when it came to channeling his version of Brando.

Billy Zane: “I wasn’t locked in my trailer, you know, stuck in character, needing to be only called Marlon. I don’t think he worked that way, either. He was loose and always interested in others and things.”

Unlike biopics that cover someone’s entire life, “Waltzing with Brando” is set primarily in Tahiti and spans over the course of five years. It explores why the actor took on some of his most iconic roles.

Billy Zane: “He had to go make ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Last Tango in Paris’ in order to pay for his true passion, which was really trying to be the front of the spear of sustainable design and build this eco-paradise.”

That’s where architect Bernard Judge, played by Jon Heder, comes in.

Billy Zane: “You know him from ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ and ‘Blades of Glory.’ A wonderful comedic actor who does such really beautifully sensitive and naturally profound dramatic work in this movie. You’re gonna see him like you never have before.”

The movie was a real passion project, and Billy says he hopes it shows.

Billy Zane: “It’s really meant as a love letter to him and his offerings, not only as an artist, but as a humanitarian, as a visionary who always put his money where his mouth was.”

Billy Zane (as Marlon Brando): “I completely agree. It’s perfect.”

“Waltzing with Brando” is now playing in theaters.

‘In The Heart of Miami’ brings a jaw-dropping circus-style show to the Magic City for one night only https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/in-the-heart-of-miami-brings-a-jaw-dropping-circus-style-show-to-the-magic-city-for-one-night-only/ Sat, 20 Sep 2025 00:19:39 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1619253 It’s showtime in SoFlo this weekend! The 305 is taking center stage in a new circus-style show. Deco got a sneak peek of a production that’s taking Miami to new heights while making your jaw drop.

Lights. Camera. Acrobatics!

When it comes to high-flying feats and spectacular skills, Les Ailes du Désir Foundation definitely knows how to put on a show.

Teresa Cesario: “We range everything from lyra to cirque to trampoline to acrobats to contortion. You name it, you’ve seen it in Cirque du Soleil, we do it here.”

While jaw-dropping acts are always front and center at this studio, this weekend, their new production “In The Heart of Miami” is showcasing the 305 like never before.

Teresa Cesario: “It really highlights the different neighborhoods of Miami, and as they are brought to life through physical embodiment of our artists’ creations.”

Director/producer Milena gave us the scoop on how she visualized the show.

Milena Straczynski: “What inspires me is the variety of cultures, how we all came from somewhere else, and we call this home.”

She also choreographed some of the numbers you’ll see in the performance.

Milena Straczynski: “The choreography in the show is very whimsical, joyous, powerful, moving, inspiring.”

But she says “In The Heart of Miami” is a true artistic collaboration between everyone involved.

Milena Straczynski: “You’ll get to see everyone in their realm, their specialty, feeling comfortable, feeling beautiful, feeling exciting. And that’s kind of always been the focus of my work, especially here. ‘Cause a lot of time, we’re told to fit into a mold, and this is the one time we get to be free.”

For one night and one night only, “In the Heart of Miami” is going down on Sunday.

Matthew McConaughey, America Ferrera race against raging California wildfire in fact-based drama ‘The Lost Bus’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/matthew-mcconaughey-america-ferrera-race-against-raging-california-wildfire-in-fact-based-drama-the-lost-bus/ Thu, 18 Sep 2025 23:08:00 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1618841 Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera aren’t playing with fire or fanning the flames in their new movie, “The Lost Bus.” They’re just trying to survive an intense inferno that engulfed parts of California. Deco got the deets on what it was like working on the film.

Matthew McConaughey is a man on a mission in “The Lost Bus.”

Matthew McConaughey (as Kevin McKay): “I don’t think you understand the urgency of our situation here.”

Talk about turning up the heat! The actor plays a bus driver who’s racing against the clock to save his family, while keeping a group of kids safe during the deadliest wildfire in California history.

Matthew McConaughey: “Because it was all so emotionally overwhelming, and there’s so much chaos, you just got to go, ‘No, just do your job, just do your job, be the best bus driver you can be and get these kids to safety.'”

The film is based on a true story, taking place during the Camp Fire that ravaged the City of Paradise in 2018.

For America Ferrera, playing a teacher allowed her to fully immerse herself in the experience.

America Ferrera: “As an actor, it was a relief because I didn’t have to become a superhero. I got to just be a person, and live in the complexity of, yes, I can both be courageous enough to do what this moment calls for, and be shaking in my boots and have tons of fear inside.”

Channeling the fear was easy because the cast shot with real smoke.

America Ferrera: “All of that pressure, like, made it feel so real and so alive, and there was very little you could do other than focusing right on what was happening in front of you and being as present as possible, and it felt like chaos, but in the best way.”

Filmmakers also brought real firefighters, as well as the real people behind the story on set to make everyone feel connected to what happened.

America Ferrera: “It’s a touchy thing to do, but they were honest. They were wonderful. They understood what we were doing. It was easy to them on set, and there wasn’t any extra pressure.”

The only pressure was the responsibility the cast put on themselves to get it right when telling this story.

Matthew McConaughey: “This is a story about human resilience, human courage, our ability to protect one another and to be selfless in the face of really devastating events.”

Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney explore grief and finding support in the dark dramedy ‘Twinless’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/dylan-obrien-and-james-sweeney-explore-grief-and-finding-support-in-the-dark-dramedy-twinless/ Fri, 05 Sep 2025 00:12:52 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1609467 Once upon a twin…

Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney aren’t related in real life, or on the big screen in “Twinless,” but when it comes to dishing with Deco about their new movie, they’ve got plenty of brotherly love.

From twinning is winning, to lonely and grieving, misery loves company.

Dylan O’Brien and James Sweeney are joined at the hip in “Twinless.”

This dark dramedy follows two men who become friends after meeting in a support group for people who have lost their twin.

It’s a passion project that’s been a long time coming.

Dylan O’Brien: “I had so much time with these guys swimming in my head, you know, it took us so long to get the movie made. And I do really think that went a long way.”

James wears multiple production hats, having written, directed and co-starred in the film.

But on screen, Dylan’s the one playing two different characters.

Dylan O’Brien: “These characters were so beautifully written, and I drew so much inspiration from that alone. They both have elements that I resonate with and they both come from me for sure.”

“Twinless” has its quirky, funny moments, but it also packs a punch when it comes to heavy, relatable themes.

Just ask James and Aisling Franciosi.

James Sweeney: “Feeling like there are different versions of you, and trying to figure out which version of you do you like yourself, I think that’s something that I personally relate to.”

Aisling Franciosi: “It’s almost a grief in itself, you know, like the loss of community around you, and feeling completely isolated and, as you say, like you’re not enough.”

For Dylan and Lauren Graham, it was all about the “L” words.

Dylan O’Brien: “The loneliness piece and the longing for such a uniquely special person and relationship.”

Lauren Graham: “What would you do to be loved? And what parts of yourself do you try to hide in the service of that?”

Love is one thing, obsession is another.

So the next time you meet someone you think may be the love of your life, maybe don’t blow up their phone if they’re not texting you back.

Dylan O’Brien: “I would stop at two. I find it quite alarming if I’ve ever been on the receiving end of more than that. That’s just me, personally.”

James Sweeney: “But that’s OK. If you don’t stop at two, we hear you.”

“Twinless” opens in theaters Friday.

Deco’s Shireen Sandoval reviews biggest box office hits for August in critic’s corner https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/decos-shireen-sandoval-reviews-biggest-box-office-hits-for-august-in-critics-corner/ Fri, 29 Aug 2025 23:29:41 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1607736 Film fans, you know the drill. It’s time to get critical, critical! Summer is almost over, but the hits are still coming in hot at the box office. Here’s a review of my favorite films from the month of August.

All work and no play gets Bob Odenkirk in the dog house with his family.

The actor is back as a workaholic assassin in “Nobody 2.”

Bob may not be the first guy you think of when you hear “action star,” but he definitely knows how to throw and take a punch.

The film is an adrenaline-fueled ride from start to finish.

The mystery horror film “Weapons” isn’t just scary, it’s scary good!

Julia Garner and Josh Brolin co-star in the suspenseful thriller about a small town where a group of kids vanish without a trace.

It’s a unique story full of twists and turns that’ll keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat.

An on-screen comedy turned real-life love story.

The naked truth is “The Naked Gun” reboot starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson is delightful.

The film brings the laughs and the nostalgia, and proves Liam’s particular set of skills includes some major comedy chops.

Double the drama, double the high jinks!

Sequels released decades after the original don’t always work, but having Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis and their undeniable chemistry continues to be a winning recipe in “Freakier Friday.”

It’s funny, heartwarming and a sweet exploration of family dynamics.

“Freakier Friday” truly proves time flies when you’re having fun.

Saddle up and rein it in.

When it comes to powerful storytelling with a lot of heart, “East of Wall” doesn’t just trot. It gallops.

This indie drama tells the true story of a woman trying to save her ranch after the death of her husband.

It’s a gritty film with a modern feel and a realistic portrayal of the impacts of unresolved grief.

3 SoFlo dining spots raise the roof with creative and intricate ceiling decor https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/3-soflo-dining-spots-raise-the-roof-with-creative-and-intricate-ceiling-decor/ Thu, 28 Aug 2025 00:56:49 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1606919 “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Ferris Bueller was onto something there. You gotta slow down to take it all in … even when you’re eating out. Deco’s checking out three So-flo spots that are raising the roof on your dining experience, so let your eyes wander.

Don’t just sit down. Look up!

Niño Gordo is serving up more than food in Wynwood.

Santiago Melchiorre: “Niño Gordo is an experience and also a restaurant. So we invite people here to, like, dive inside of the world that we have created.”

This Buenos Aires hotspot is all about taking things to the next level. In the kitchen, they’re blending Latin flair with Asian flavors.

And in the dining room…

Santiago Melchiorre: “We have, like, an immersive situation here when you kinda like walk in through the door and you’re transported. And we have decorated in a way to enhance that experience.”

There’s a golden mirror room and funky fish tanks filled with toys.

But the real showstoppers are the dozens of red Chinese lanterns that cover the whole ceiling.

Santiago Melchiorre: “People walk in, they’re, like, taking pictures everywhere. It kind of transports you like somewhere else outside of Miami.”

Flower power is in full bloom at TIMBR.

This Fort Lauderdale restaurant is raising the bar, and the roof, when it comes to dining on Las Olas.

Michael Tronn: “The idea was to create something enchanting and magical for all of the guests, so that this would become your home away from home, a clubhouse that people would really enjoy.”

This place has three themed rooms:

  • “The Park,” which is filled with trees and firefly lights.
  • The sleek and stylish “Lounge.”
  • The “Atrium,” where everything’s coming up roses.

Michael Tronn: “When you enter it, it’s just this enormous cavern covered in pink flowers, and it’s this explosion of color, topped by a 20-foot skylight. It’s designed to be comforting, it’s designed to be inspiring, and it’s designed to be a respite.”

When it comes to making a splash, Rosalia’s Kitchen in Miramar is diving in on all things fun and whimsical.

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta: “We’re known for our fun, crazy cocktails, fun, crazy dishes, and now for our seasonal decorations.”

This summer, it’s all about making waves, under the sea style.

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta: “We decided to go with a nautical theme. Our standout decor pieces are the three mermaids that we have in the ceiling. They are made by some of the best artists in New Orleans.”

Floatng jellyfish, bubbles, sea creatures — you name it, they got it.

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta:: “We can’t put decorations on the floor. We can’t really put decorations on the tables. So we just went for the ceiling.”

And it doesn’t stop there. Their seasonal food and drinks are also turning up the water works to match the vibe.

Rafael Brazon-Di Fatta: “That really adds up to how much fun they have and how much they enjoy the experience. Like, they’re having seafood while they’re sitting under the sea next to the mermaids. So it really brings it all together into one nice, beautiful package.”

A 2-day interactive dinosaur experience roars back to life at the Miami-Dade Fair Expo Center https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/a-2-day-interactive-dinosaur-experience-roars-back-to-life-at-the-miami-dade-fair-expo-center/ Fri, 22 Aug 2025 01:14:11 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1604421 What do you call a dinosaur wearing a cowboy hat and boots? A Tyrannosaurus Tex! What do you call an event that mixes dinosaurs and Lego? Deco’s resident dino wrangler and builder, Alex Miranda, has the punch line.

The most predictable duo ever: Jurassic Quest and Brick Fest Live. Bricks as in Lego. But hey, what do you call a dinosaur made of cheese? Gorgonzilla.

You can’t go to Jurassic Park or Jurassic World … but this weekend, you can visit the next best thing, and nothing will try to eat you — promise!

The Mesozoic era is roaring back to life, thanks to Jurassic Quest. The two-day interactive dinosaur experience is going down at the Fair Expo Center.

Shay: “Once you pass through, you’ll step through different ages of the Jurassic period.”

We’re talking tons of life-size, animatronic dinosaurs that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

Shay: “Life-size dinosaurs that are as big as that building over there. Right now, we have babies that are small as Trixie that are 6 weeks old. We also have an opportunity where you guys get to train a Utah raptor, who is at least 7 to 8 feet tall.”

Hmmm, raptors. Yeah, they’re kinda terrifying.

But Trixie? She’s on our level.

Trixie: “I’m just a baby.”

Woman: “But you still have to say, ‘OK, Mom.'”

Trixie: “I’m just a baby!”

Shay: “We normally call her the princess, the Princess Pillow. She doesn’t like to do much but sit around and eat berries and leaves.”

We love Trixie in this house, but you know what else we love? Playing with Lego!

Talk about building bridges, because Brick Fest Live is joining forces with Jurassic Quest for an action-packed weekend of family fun.

Shay: “You get a chance to see a bunch of sculptures, different Lego creations. We also have a pit full of bricks for kids to build. The kids will mainly have fun, but the adults, you’ll have fun watching your kids have fun, and I feel like that’s what it’s all about. You’ll never leave feeling like you missed out on something.”

Jurassic Quest with Brick Fest Live is going down this Saturday and Sunday … and Deco viewers, you’re in luck! Use the code Dino20 to slash that ticket price by 20%!

Popular UK coffee shop opens up in Coconut Grove to offer 305 residents unique matcha drinks, lattes and more! https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/popular-uk-coffee-shop-opens-up-in-coconut-grove-to-offer-305-residents-unique-matcha-drinks-lattes-and-more/ Wed, 20 Aug 2025 00:12:39 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1603515 Espresso yourself! We all know coffee is pretty much an essential here in South Florida. Cuban Cafecito is great but sometimes, you’re craving a different kind of caffeine fix. Deco’s leading the herd to a spot that’s new in town and serving cool beans and cooler brews straight from jolly old England.

Rise and grind! It’s a brew-tiful day at the new Black Sheep Coffee house in Coconut Grove.

From across the pond to the 305, this popular U.K. brand is setting up shop and opening its first Florida store at Grove Central.

Gabriel Shohet: “We set up this company thinking, ‘We’re gonna try to make the best coffee in the world,’ and never really compromised on that.”

Go bean or go home! This place has it all, from matcha mixes and hot drinks to iced coffee and cold brews.

Gabriel Shohet: “We were the first coffee company to launch 100% Robusta coffee, specialty grade.”

And they say you can definitely taste the difference.

Gabriel Shohet: “It’s got notes of walnut and dark chocolate instead of the citrus and floral notes of Arabica.”

You can’t go wrong with a hot latte or cappuccino, but the SoFlo sun often demands something a little more refreshing. That’s where Black Sheep’s signature layered matcha drinks come in.

Gabriel Shohet: “It’s nice to make sure that you break it up a little bit so that people know and see what they’re drinking “

There’s 11 different flavors to choose from between the oat milk lattes and lemonade options, but the best-seller is blueberry.

Customer: “It was extremely refreshing. I’ve only had matcha a few times, so I was really excited to try.”

Speaking of delicious, this coffee shop also specializes in Norwegian waffles packed with yummy fillings.

Gabriel Shohet: “We’ve got the Norwegian classic, which is made with Norwegian brown cheese and strawberry jam. But we also have like Nutella, strawberries.”

Now that’s what I call a sweet treat, and the perfect pairing with one of Black Sheep’s cold brew drinks, because when the heat waves, iced coffee saves.

Customer: “I loved the cold brew! It was a very clean taste, and I liked the Norwegian waffle a lot. It was the strawberries and Nutella one, which I always love a sweet treat, so it’s always good to try.”

Customer: “I would love to come back with my friends in law school and study here. Also bring clients here. It’s a great spot.”

Black Sheep Coffee opens Wednesday. Good news for students: Get 20% off the entire menu when you show your student ID or register with your student email on their app.

Deco sits down with cast of ‘The Map That Leads to You,’ who promise twists and turns in the romantic drama https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-sits-down-with-cast-of-the-map-that-leads-to-you-who-promise-twists-and-turns-in-the-romantic-drama/ Tue, 19 Aug 2025 00:10:50 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1603043 All roads lead to the movies here on Deco and “X” marks the spot for the next film on our radar! Deco’s dishing with the cast of “The Map That Leads to You,” which drops on Prime Video this Wednesday!

From girls’ trip to summer lovin’!

Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa are embarking on the ultimate European adventure in “The Map That Leads to You.”

But this film about two strangers who fall in love while on vacation, is more than just a romantic drama.

Madelyn Cline: “This story starts out as kind of like a love story between, like, some girls, like we’re on a Euro trip. And then it kind of ends up evolving into something else.”

Madelyn plays a recent college graduate. While KJ stars as a guy who’s using his grandpa’s old journal to retrace the places he once visited.

Okay, now we got to know: What are some places he holds near and dear in his life?

KJ Apa: “There’s a few prominent locations, it would be home in New Zealand. It’s a big map. And, you know, at the gym. And just where all my friends live and stuff.”

This film is full of twists, but Sofia Wylie and Madison Thompson, who play Madelyn’s BFF’s in the movie, say life is too!

Madison Thompson: “My college experience, I was going to go to one college and then, because of acting, things that happen, like change super last minute. Sometimes your path diverges and that’s definitely what happened to me. But I made the most incredible friends like, met my boyfriend, like so many people that are so central to my life today.”

Sounds like everything here could be happening for a reason!

Sofia Wylie: “As actors, we all experience the rejection that comes where you really, really want something and it feels like it’s meant to be. Those are always times in my life where I’m really grateful for the no’s because it always leads to a better yes.”

“The Map That Leads to You” premieres on Aug. 20 on Prime.

Nude Nite pop-up offers a multi-sensory art experience in Miami https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/nude-nite-pop-up-offers-a-multi-sensory-art-experience-in-miami/ Sat, 16 Aug 2025 00:21:22 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1602436 Here’s the naked truth: sometimes it’s kind of fun to be a little risqué. Give ’em the old razzle dazzle or maybe just experience it for yourself.

Deco’s checking out a show that’s celebrating the art of being human by putting the body on display.

Release your inhibitions and say goodbye to everything holding you back.

Nude Nite in Wynwood isn’t your typical art show.

Sloan Waranch: “Nude Nite is a multi-sensory pop-up art experience all about the celebration of the human body.”

This avant-garde exhibition has been missing in action from the 305 for eight long years, but the goal has always been to come back.

Sloan Waranch: “Miami is all about the sun, getting out, exercising, like that body-ody-ody. And so we thought, why not? Let’s come down to Miami. It’s all about raw, rebellious, unapologetic art and that’s exactly what Nude Nite is.”

Feel free let your eyes wander because at this gallery, you’ll find a lot more than paintings.

Sloan Waranch: “We have 150 plus pieces of figurative art works from all across the country. We have a world class body painter, his name is Avi Ram, and he’ll be live body painting. We have interactive installations. We have burlesque performers, live performers. We have walking characters.”

Start your night off right by visiting the baggage drop!

Sloan Waranch: “You are going to come and throw away your emotional baggage. It is an interactive activation where you can write on a bag tag what you wanna get rid of and throw it away in the luggage.”

Visitor: “I’m getting rid of being too much.”

Visitor: “Getting rid of the guilt for leaving my highest paying job for happiness.”

Visitor: “Not feeling like I’m good enough.”

Visitor: “My personal drama.”

Other interactive activities include the love tunnel, where you can write a love note to a stranger, and take one for yourself.

There’s also the “what formed you” wall.

The goal here is to wrap colorful yarn around the things that made you who you are.

There’s even a scent-ual experience that’s all about the things you associate with different smells.

Sloan Waranch: “Nude Nite is all about expression and being your authentic self and having a new experience. I promise you will not leave Nude Nite feeling bored.”

Nude Nite runs through Saturday, Aug. 16. It’s a 21+ experience.

Denzel Washington reteams with director Spike Lee in new crime thriller ‘Highest 2 Lowest’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/denzel-washington-reteams-with-director-spike-lee-in-new-crime-thriller-highest-2-lowest/ Sat, 16 Aug 2025 00:17:53 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1602434 One is fine. Twice is nice. But five times? That’s the sweet spot when it comes to Denzel Washington and Spike Lee collaborations. The two Hollywood heavyweights are back with a new film, and it’s the perfect way to kick off your weekend at the movies.

Money talks, but Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright drop truth bombs. Give ’em five!

Denzel is teaming up with director Spike Lee for the fifth time in his career. In the crime thriller “Highest 2 Lowest,” he’s dealing with some serious family matters.

It’s all fun and games until someone comes after your own.

And when it comes to their kids in real life, both Denzel and Jeffrey say family comes before work.

Jeffrey Wright: “I’ve found, you know, as I’ve gotten older and had children, that, you know, there are other considerations that I had to make in terms of the work that I did that I, you know, I did not have to consider when it was just me.”

Denzel Washington: “My mother used to say, ‘Do what you got to do, so that you can do what you want to do.’ It’s not the other way around. You know, when I had, when we had four children, I was doing stuff I had to do. You go back and look in the mid-’90s. I won’t mention any movies: I’ll just say the mid-’90s, around in there.”

Jeffrey Wright: “A couple for the kids.”

Denzel Washington: “Yeah, yeah, a couple, more than a couple for the kids and the wife in the house and in the bank and everybody else!”

Jeffrey Wright: “Right.”

“Highest 2 Lowest” is in theaters now and moves to Apple TV+ Sept. 5.

Kristin Scott Thomas says she’s taking back her childhood narrative in directorial debut, ‘My Mother’s Wedding’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/kristin-scott-thomas-says-shes-taking-back-her-childhood-narrative-in-directorial-debut-my-mothers-wedding/ Sat, 09 Aug 2025 00:04:14 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1600528 Wedding bells are ringing and family drama is brewing. Those two things usually go hand-in-hand at wedding receptions, especially in the new movie “My Mother’s Wedding.” Throw that rice and pop the champagne, Deco’s dishing with Kristin Scott Thomas about her new film.

Here comes the bride! Kristin Scott Thomas is ready to walk down the aisle, again, in the dramedy “My Mother’s Wedding,” and it’s a real family affair.

The film follows three sisters — played by Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller and Emily Beecham — who reunite to celebrate their mom’s big day.

Kristin stars as matriarch Diana. But she doesn’t stop there.

The film is the Oscar nominee’s directorial debut, and she co-wrote the screenplay, which was partially inspired by her childhood.

Kristin Scott Thomas: “Somebody said, ‘Why don’t you turn it into a feature length film?’ And I thought, ‘Well, how on Earth am I gonna do that without boring everybody to tears with my family?’ So I said, ‘I know! I’ll invent some.'”

The actress tells Deco this felt like the right time to tell her story on her own terms, because she wanted to take back her narrative.

Kristin Scott Thomas: “Throughout my professional life, every single profile I’ve ever had written contains a couple paragraphs about my so-called ‘tragic childhood.’ I wanted to explain that having a so-called ‘tragic childhood’ is not the end of the world. You can get through it, and it makes you who you are.”

Kristin and Scarlett know a thing or two about playing mother and daughter.

They’ve already done it twice: In “The Horse Whisperer,” when ScarJo was just a teen, and in “The Other Boleyn Girl,” when she was in her 20s.

Kristin Scott Thomas: “The woman she has turned into is fantastic. And I’m very happy to have witnessed that in some ways, and to see her being a mom herself.”

So asking her to be part of this film was a no-brainer.

Kristin Scott Thomas: “I suddenly had this brain wave, so I just rang her up and said, ‘Would you read this quickly?’ And she did! And then the rest sort of happened.”

Sydney Sweeney, ‘Americana’ co-stars talk making genre-splicing Western heist thriller https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/sydney-sweeney-americana-co-stars-talk-making-genre-splicing-western-heist-thriller/ Thu, 07 Aug 2025 00:57:55 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1599837 West assured, a Western thriller can be a lot of fun to watch, especially when it has crime and comedy … like Sydney Sweeney’s new film, “Americana.” Saddle up! Deco’s getting up to no good with the cast.

Paul Walter Hauser (as Lefty Ledbetter): “What would you do if you had a million dollars?”

Sydney Sweeney (as Penny Jo): “I’d go to Nashville, sing professionally.”

Paul Walter Hauser (as Lefty Ledbetter): “I didn’t know you were a singer. You sing country music?”

Sydney Sweeney (as Penny Jo): “What other music is there?”

Paul Walter Hauser (as Lefty Ledbetter): “Wow!”

Sydney Sweeney and Paul Walter Hauser are hungry for more than fame and fortune in the Western heist thriller “Americana.” They’ve got an appetite for crime.

Character in “Americana”: “If someone were to make an effort to liberate that garment, I would pay…”

Sydney Sweeney (as Penny Jo): Half a million dollars, really?”

Paul Walter Hauser (as Lefty Ledbetter): “That’s what the man said.”

Talk about a fashion emergency! Because everyone is after this super rare, Native American ghost shirt.

Hijinks, corruption and laughs? Sounds kinda like…

Paul Walter Hauser: “‘Pulp Fiction’ or ‘Fargo.'”

Sydney Sweeney: “‘No Country for Old Men.’ When I first read the script, I always felt like it was a mixture of a Tarantino film meets a Clint Eastwood film.”

Those are some big shoes to fill, but the film has the cast to back it up. We’re talking Eric Dane.

Eric Dane: “The story was so compelling.”

Simon Rex.

Simon Rex: “It’s a badass movie. Kinda like a modern cowboys and Indians, but not really.”

And Halsey, in her first-ever dramatic role.

Halsey: “It’s kinda sexy, but also kinda dirty. It’s just so many things all wrapped into one.”

She admits she was super nervous, but director Tony Tost had her back.

Halsey: “I said, ‘I’ve never acted before. Don’t you want me to audition? Aren’t you nervous I’m gonna be terrible and I’m gonna suck? What if I ruin this whole thing?’ And he was like, ‘No, I have faith in you. It’s gonna be awesome.'”

Sydney was also very much Team Halsey.

Sydney Sweeney: “She and I have been really good friends for a couple of years now, and so, being able to work with someone who’s your fellow friend and one of her first projects, it’s so amazing to watch her grow.”

The film is a reunion for her and Eric, after years of working on “Euphoria” together.

Eric Dane: “Sydney and I are pretty tight, and she’s just a super talented pro. Super precocious.”

Sydney Sweeney: “I had a few scenes in ‘Euphoria’ with him, and so, being able to work with him, different kind of characters was a lot of fun. And he’s just – he’s awesome.”

As for Paul and Simon, they were drawn in by all the colliding storylines and themes.

Paul Walter Hauser: “The desire to not be alone, to the desire of having or understanding family, to the desire of wanting to make your dreams come true and maybe doing something really unethical to get your dreams and your desires met.”

Simon Rex: “Everybody in this story is all trying to have their come-up, and it’s a matter of who’s gonna get it.”

Simon Rex (as Roy Lee Dean): “The waitress is here?”

Sydney Sweeney (as Penny Jo): “God-[expletive] right I am.”

“Americana” opens in theaters Aug. 15.

South Florida’s own Sofia Carson tackles Britain — and falling for hot Brit — in Netflix rom-com ‘My Oxford Year’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/south-floridas-own-sofia-carson-tackles-britain-and-falling-for-hot-brit-in-netflix-rom-com-my-oxford-year/ Wed, 30 Jul 2025 23:54:11 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1597906 Sometimes, nothing hits the spot like a good rom-com, especially one starring one of SoFlo’s own. Sofia Carson is falling head over heels in love across the pond in “My Oxford Year,” which drops on Netflix this Friday.

Martin Bishop (as Lord): “Welcome to the University of Oxford. Your time here is precious, seize it.”

Moving abroad is hard. Falling in love with the hot British guy? That’s easy.

Harry Trevaldwyn (as Charlie Butler): “Flirting with the hot teacher on the first day?”

Sofia Carson (as Anna De La Vega): “No, I…”

Harry Trevaldwyn (as Charlie Butler): “Oh no, I love it. That is a serious bit of crumpet.”

Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest are having a jolly good time in the new rom-com “My Oxford Year.”

Sofia Carson: “It was so much fun to step into Anna’s shoes and, you know, she’s such an Anglophile, so I think she learned so much about British culture before arriving. So she’s like a fish out of water who thinks she isn’t a fish out of water.”

But fun can only get you so far when it comes to relationships.

Sofia Carson (as Anna De La Vega): “We said we’d have fun. And we have.”

Poppy Gilbert (as Cecelia Knowles): “Trust me, Anna, it’s not worth the pain.”

Corey Mylchreest (as Jamie Davenport): “Don’t waste the short time you have left in Oxford on me. There’s no future here.”

Before facing the future, you have to look to the past … and if you need to do some external soul-searching, Corey says there’s no better place than somewhere as iconic and historical as the University of Oxford.

Corey Mylchreest: “Oxford, specifically in the film, feels so potent, powerful. You know, it’s its own character, really, and it was so important for us all to do as much of the film as possible there, you know, and to be surrounded by – you know, it’s really remarkable that we were able to do so much of it there.”

Sofia Carson (as Anna De La Vega): “A succession of moments is really all we have. And I want mine to be with you.”

‘Freakier Friday’ brings new life to 2000s nostalgia https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/freakier-friday-brings-new-life-to-2000s-nostalgia/ Tue, 29 Jul 2025 00:15:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1597202 Déjà vu isn’t just a feeling, or a great song by Olivia Rodrigo. When it comes to “Freakier Friday,” it’s a premise. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are trading places again, but not with each other. Because when it comes to this sequel, it’s double the fun and double the craziness. Double the freaky!

OK, nobody panic.

On second thought, maybe everyone should panic, because history is repeating itself in “Freakier Friday” … but this time around, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis aren’t the only ones switching bodies.

In the sequel, Lindsay’s daughter and soon-to-be step-daughter get caught up in the chaos.

The girls may be new to the fold, but the OGs have been there, done that, and they’re super excited to be back for more after all these years.

Lindsay Lohan: “I know it’s been 22 years since ‘Freaky Friday’s’ been a global hit at the box office. I didn’t know if I would see this day, but I’m sure happy that I did.”

Jamie Lee Curtis: “My joke always was, well, we have to wait until Lindsay’s old enough to have a 15-year-old child, and then we can make a sequel. And then we figured out she was old enough to have a 15-year-old child. And so, here we are.”

Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons, who play Harper and Lily, were both big fans of the original movie.

Julia Butters: “When I heard that they were making a sequel, I was so excited because I couldn’t wait to see it as a fan. But I also couldn’t wait to be a part of it when I found out that that was possible.”

Sophia Hammons: “I wanted to be in on it so bad. Really, the only reason I had even heard about it was because one of my friends was auditioning for it, and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I need to audition for it.'”

When we first met Lindsay’s character Anna, she was a moody teenager. Now, she’s all grown up and dealing with grown up things, like planning her own wedding!

Thankfully, getting back in character was the easy part.

Lindsay Lohan: “Slipping back into the role of Anna felt very comfortable for me, because I’ve also aged with Anna as the character. So it was easy for me to relate to who she is today, especially being a mom. So it came more naturally than I expected.”

Another thing that comes naturally? Her relationship with Jamie Lee. They’ve stayed close over the years.

Jamie Lee Curtis: “We’ve known each other and seen each other for a long time. But more than anything, I think we both know that we care about each other, that we trust and are safe with each other.”
