From shiny trophies to dueling lawsuits — and a Swift-tacular engagement — here’s a look back at some of the biggest pop culture moments of the whole year!

Major victory and major controversy: 2025 began with Demi Moore winning her first ever major acting award at The Golden Globes for “The Substance,” while “Emilia Perez” star Karla Sofía Gascón found herself in hot water over her posts on social media.

Indie film “Anora” dominated at the Academy Awards.

That film took home five trophies, including best picture and best actress for Mikey Madison.

Jonathan Bailey had a wickedly good 2025, onscreen and in real life.

The actor was named People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”

Taylor Swift wrapped up “The Eras Tour” in 2024. But she had plenty more up her sleeve this year.

The singer dropped her record-breaking album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” And her man, Travis Kelce, finally popped the question, kicking off her engagement era.

She also released a concert film and docuseries about “The Eras Tour” on Disney+.

Taylor’s BFF Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco tied the knot after dropping their collab album, “I Said I Love You First.”

And in celeb splits, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban called it quits after 19 years of marriage.

Beyonce also had a billion dollar year.

The singer’s “Cowboy Carter” tour became the highest grossing country music concert tour ever. She also became the first Black woman to win the Grammy for best country album and finally won the coveted album of the year trophy.

The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn Tour” became the highest grossing tour by a solo male artist ever.

Spotify Wrapped crowned Bad Bunny as the year’s most streamed global artist, with almost 20 billion listens around the world. The Latin superstar was also named next year’s Super Bowl halftime show headliner.

Adele announced her first acting role. She’ll be part of Tom Ford’s upcoming Anne Rice adaptation, “Cry to Heaven.”

The courts also saw a lot of Hollywood action this year.

“It Ends With Us” ended with dueling lawsuits between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. She’s accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliating against her. But he claims she took over his movie, extorted him and tried to destroy his career. The trial is set for May.

Also making headlines: Sean P-Puff-Diddy-Daddy Combs was found guilty after an eight week trial in New York City.

The disgraced rap mogul was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in prison.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was temporarily suspended in September over the host’s political commentary.

That decision led to debates about free speech, with many celebs coming to his defense. That lasted six days.

The biggest movie of the year didn’t come from Hollywood.

China’s animated flick “Ne Zha Two” raked in almost $2 billion.

When it comes to domestic blockbusters, “A Minecraft Movie” starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa made over $423 million.

Marvel suited up for action with “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts*” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”

And the year comes to a close with some highly anticipated sequels.

“Wicked: For Good” marked a return to the Emerald City and all things green and pink, while James Cameron took audiences back to Pandora in “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”

Eventgoers take over the streets of Coconut Grove for annual King Mango Strut https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/eventgoers-take-over-the-streets-of-coconut-grove-for-annual-king-mango-strut/ Tue, 30 Dec 2025 02:30:38 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655384 The mango is such a happy fruit. If you say so, but it is colorful inside and out, and tastes so sweet to eat. The annual SoFlo parade celebrating the tropical delight is gearing up to get your juices flowing.

The 42nd King Mango Strut will take over the streets of Coconut Grove on Sunday, January 4th.

It’s a loud and lovely way for neighbors to get together.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “The mango strut is a bunch of coconut grove people and their friends getting together to march in front of a bunch of other coconut grove people and their friends.”

The strut was born when some free-spirited folks weren’t allowed to play with the well-behaved kids.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “Forty-some years ago, a bunch of people tried to get into the Orange Bowl jamboree parade, and they wouldn’t let them in ’cause their act was too goofy, and so they started their own strut.”

“Goofy” is definitely good at this celebration.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “Really, it’s just people coming together and forming groups, and we don’t really care what they do as long as it’s funny. We want it to be funny.”

The strut is bookended by plenty of chances to let your hair down and lose last year’s blues.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “We have a pre-party beforehand, we’re closing the streets at noon, the parade’s at 2, and then we have an after-party at Commodore Plaza and on Fuller Street.”

You’ll be pleased to know that the message of this year’s gathering is very reassuring.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “Yeah, so this year’s theme is this is fine. While the world is in a certain amount of chaos, we’re just saying nothing to worry about here, this is fine.”

The event is a reminder of how unique and cool the grove has always been.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “It’s one of the events that’s just an absolute staple that’s one of the reasons people think about when they think about what makes Coconut Grove, Coconut Grove.”

Maybe the best part of King Mango Strut is that it extends your New Year’s Eve partying for a few more days.

Jeremy Calleros Gauger: “Instead of staying sober after January, no, no, no, just give it a little time, right at least until the end of the weekend.”

Deco previews ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ as hosts from across the country prepare the countdown https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-previews-dick-clarks-new-years-rockin-eve-as-hosts-from-across-the-country-prepare-the-countdown/ Tue, 30 Dec 2025 01:09:29 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1655377 Ryan Seacrest will be in Times Square counting down to the new year once again. But this year, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” is spreading the party across the U.S.. Deco’s got your preview.

Ryan Seacrest is back in Times Square for the iconic ball drop, and once again his co-host is Rita Ora. But the celebration isn’t staying in one place.

Julianne Hough and Rob Gronkowski will bring the energy to Sin City.

Julianne Hough: “I don’t really party at night. That’s not really my jam. So if I can do it, you know, one time a year, and have it be on this scale, it’s pretty awesome.”

Rob Gronkowski: “I’m so excited for this night and it’s gonna be mayhem, it’s gonna be a lot of energy, it’s gonna be special and we’re going to rock ourselves into 2026.”

This is Gronk’s second year hosting, and he said there’s nothing like ringing in the new year live on national television.

Rob Gronkowski: “I know it’s gonna be one of the best nights of my life, there’s no doubt about that. I’ve been a part of New Year’s Eve before on live national television. It’s one of the greatest nights that you can possibly have. I remember not falling asleep until 5 a.m. as well, just because there was so much adrenaline that was going on.”

For the first time ever, Chance the Rapper will host “Rockin’ Eve’s” central time zone countdown in Chicago.

As for the performers, there’s something for everybody — Mariah Carey, Post Malone, Diana Ross, and one band that hits especially close to home for Julianne.

Julianne Hough: “Goo Goo Dolls, I mean, it’s gonna be awesome. I think I danced to that song, ‘Iris,’ on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ so it truly is iconic.”

John Rzeznik: “I think it’s amazing to be part of this because it’s been going on for so long. We actually played it 30 years ago when had our first hit and Dick Clark was still hosting it.”

So whether you’re watching from Times Square, Vegas, Chicago — or on your couch — “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” is promising a big countdown with a lot of memories.

Happy New Year!

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” with Ryan Seacrest airs live on ABC starting at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Witness describes moment delivery driver slams through Starbucks in California https://wsvn.com/news/us-world/witness-describes-moment-delivery-driver-slams-through-starbucks-in-california/ Fri, 19 Dec 2025 22:09:40 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1652906 What began as a typical afternoon of drinking coffee turned into terror after a delivery driver smashed through a Starbucks in Sacramento, according to a witness.

Sheri Alberg was enjoying her drink at the coffee shop when the vehicle slammed through the glass storefront.

“It was just so loud. It was like an explosion, and that was the first thought in my head,” said Alberg.

Shattered glass and broken coffee mugs littered the floor where customers would typically sit to drink.

“This is the car inside,” said Alberg, showing a picture of where the car ended up in the middle of the store.

The vehicle narrowly missed Alberg by a few feet, barreling into the table right next to her.

She said a 15-year-old girl and her grandfather had just sat down at that table minutes before the crash happened.

“They were sitting right here, right where that lady is standing, that’s where they were sitting,” she said. “The two girls who delivered their food just walked away, and it happened right after that, a car went barreling through the window, and the man disappeared. I couldn’t see him, and it pushed the girl out of the way.”

At that point, she and several employees and customers rushed over to help.

“You just go into a mode to help somebody else who’s hurt. That’s your first instinct,” said Alberg.

The man suffered some minor cuts and was taken to the hospital to be checked out. His granddaughter was hit by furniture and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

According to authorities, the crash occurred when a delivery driver accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes while picking up an order.

“It stopped at the front counter, and it was going really fast,” said Alberg.

With the shop packed with several customers and employees, Alberg said she’s relieved the crash didn’t turn out worse.

“Literally, I do not know how they both survived. It’s just such a blessing,” said Alberg.

Police say the driver received a citation for the crash.

Jack Black and Paul Rudd slither on screen for a comedy reboot of 1997 horror classic, ‘Anaconda’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/jack-black-and-paul-rudd-slither-on-screen-for-a-comedy-reboot-of-1997-horror-classic-anaconda/ Thu, 18 Dec 2025 03:18:07 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1652093 Hold onto your popcorn, “Anaconda” is slithering its way back on the big screen this Christmas. But this time, it’s a comedy reboot with funny guys Jack Black and Paul Rudd. In this “Anaconda,” the stars go from making a horror movie to experiencing one.

Thandiwe Newton: “My anaconda don’t. Yeah, of course, I mean, come on. It’s the trailer, Jesus Christ. You do it.”

Steve Zahn: “I’m not doing it because I’ll have to pay money.”

Thandiwe Newton: “Will you? What?”

Steve Zahn: “I’m kidding.”

Thandiwe Newton: “Silly boy.”

Being silly is just an everyday thing for Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn on the re-imagined version of “Anaconda.”

Especially co-starring with Jack Black and Paul Rudd, who play childhood friends trying to make an indie version of the 1997 classic.

It’s all fun and games until a giant snake hunts them down. But keeping it professional on set is key.

Jack Black: “We only did a few takes of that as well because I was running top speed down a dirt, uneven terrain. And I don’t think they wanted to risk old man Jables’ ankle snappage.”

Paul Rudd: “All day covered in goop and gross, it was disgusting. And he has a boar on his back.”

Paul Rudd: “We were in Australia, it was summer. I don’t understand the Celsius-Fahrenheit thing yet, I don’t plan on getting it. But I think it equaled out to about 130 degrees Fahrenheit, and it was so uncomfortable, and this guy never complained once.”

No real snakes were used in the flick, but watching videos of some is enough.

Jack Black: “From the Amazon, where you do see some snake attacks. Dude, there’s some scary mo-fo videos.”

Paul Rudd: “Also, it’s always gross when you see a snake and it’s like, ‘Oh, my god, he just ate a cow. You can see the shape of it in his gullet.'”

Jack Black: “Oh, yeah.”

Making this adventure flick also includes music on the scene.

Steve Zahn: “There was a constant song.”

Thandiwe Newton: “There was a song all the time.”

Steve Zahn: “There’s always a song.”

Steve Zahn: “It was a great set.”

Thandiwe Newton: “Such a beautiful atmosphere.”

Steve Zahn: “It was a fun, every day was fun.”

Thandiwe Newton: “So fun. And I think the audience gets to share in the fun, frankly.”

Thandiwe Newton: “Say hi to Miami for us.”

Steve Zahn: “Not me though.”

Thandiwe Newton: “No.”

Good Samaritan describes helping pilot, passenger after plane crashes on road in Central Florida https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida/good-samaritan-describes-helping-pilot-passenger-after-plane-crashes-on-road-in-central-florida/ Wed, 17 Dec 2025 22:00:13 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1651972 DELAND, FLA. (WSVN) — A good Samaritan is recounting the moments she jumped into action after a small plane came to a crashing stop on a road in Central Florida.

Yessica Ramirez was traveling down a road in DeLand when she saw what she thought was just another car near her.

“I suddenly saw an object, I thought it was a car, you know, a vehicle, then I just hit the brakes, and then I stopped,” said Ramirez. “I didn’t even see it coming from the sky. If I didn’t hit my breaks, the aircraft would’ve hit me, obviously.”

After making the abrupt stop, she didn’t think twice about checking on the pilot and passenger aboard the small aircraft.

“The first thing that went through my mind like, ‘I got to help the people get out, let me go see if they’re okay,'” she said.

Ramirez and another witness worked together to force open the plane’s door, rescuing the pilot and passenger onboard.

“I told him like, ‘Come on, let’s get them out of the airplane. Help me, help me.’ The pilot, he was bleeding really bad. I think he hurt his forehead really bad,” she said.

According to deputies, the plane suffered significant damage and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

Fortunately, the people on the plane did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

“While I was talking to the copilot, I’m like, ‘Come on, let’s get out of here,’ and the copilot. he was not that hurt, like, not as much as the pilot,” said Ramirez.

Both drivers, complete strangers with no specialized training, met a terrifying moment with a life-saving response.

“Never in my life would I imagine an aircraft would land in front of me, literally,” said Ramirez.

On the same day this crash happened, another small plane crashed along I-95 in Brevard County.

9-year-old boy reunites with organ donor at Memorial Regional to share inspiring story https://wsvn.com/news/local/broward/9-year-old-boy-reunites-with-organ-donor-at-memorial-regional-to-share-inspiring-story/ Mon, 15 Dec 2025 23:33:17 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1651023 A 9-year-old boy needed a kidney donation, and a donor offered to assist through an organ donation to save the boy’s life. Some time after the surgery, the two reunited at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood to share their inspiring story.

Aaron, the recipient, experienced kidney failure three years ago, leading to eventual surgery.

“We were told over a period of time that eventually he would need a kidney transplant due to the damage that was done to his kidneys… from– as a baby,” said Ferline Lamothe, Aaron’s mother.

However, his mother said finding a donor and an organ that was compatible with Aaron was a challenging process.

“His numbers started going up just before the transplant, and his nephrologist said, ‘I was starting to get worried I would have to start dialysis,'” said Lamothe.

Eventually, they found a match at the perfect time thanks to Nick Kolor, a generous donor.

“By the time it was decision-making, the decision-making aspect was very easy. I was much more confident in the decision by the time the screening process was over,” said Kolor.

He offered to donate his kidney to anyone who needed it, and when he discovered that it would go to a child, he was emotional.

“I was not expecting that. That hit pretty hard. I do not cry much, but that got a little drip or two going down there,” said Kolor.

After the surgery was finished, his first thought was to know if it was successful, which it was.

Nick hoped that his act of generosity would pave the way for others to follow his actions.

“So I’m shooting for people like myself, healthy in their 20s, to reach out to hospitals like this one where it’s an option to donate specifically to a younger recipient,” said Kolor.

While Aaron is still adjusting to the medication, he is healthy.

“If you saw him, you wouldn’t know he had a transplant. It seems like if he could, he would jump a couch like he’s Spider-Man,” said Lamothe.

His mother is eternally grateful to Kolor for his assistance.

“A part of you will always live with him. We just want to say thank you, as we said before. You are an angel sent to him,” said Lamothe.

The Memorial Transplant Center has performed over 650 kidney transplants since 2021, but this was the first altruistic transplant to a recipient.

American Heritage Schools pre-med students host annual holiday party for pediatric cancer patients in Fort Lauderdale https://wsvn.com/news/local/broward/american-heritage-schools-pre-med-students-host-annual-holiday-party-for-pediatric-cancer-patients-in-fort-lauderdale/ Sat, 13 Dec 2025 02:49:35 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1650438 A group of South Florida pre-med students helped grant a festive wish for pediatric cancer patients at Broward Health Medical Center.

Students from American Heritage Schools’ pre-medical program came together to throw a festive holiday bash for the kids.

“We are trying to make more of an impact on quality of life. We know that there is so much research done towards treatment and everything, we are just trying to make the holiday season a little bit brighter for each child,” said student Kennedy Deitsch.

The students were able to pull off the celebration after beginning their planning during a pizza party they had with the children in October.

“The volunteers from American Heritage got to meet the patients from the hematology and oncology unit, and they sat down with them, played games, they had pizza, they helped them write a list for Santa Claus,” said Carlos Pulido, the medical studies program director at American Heritage Schools.

The medical center then helped those students raise the funds they needed to grant as many wish list items as they could.

“We raised over $40,000 and then those funds were used to fulfill most of everything from those children,” said Pulido.

From there, students went from one store to the next, knocking out everything they could from each child’s list.

The months-long effort culminated in students helping Santa Claus fulfill those wishes and bring a memorable Christmas holiday for the children.

“It is just so rewarding because you really feel like you’re making a direct impact and then when we are all wrapping the presents or playing Christmas music, it’s just a super fun environment to be in and it really just brings us closer as a community,” said Deitsch.

For some students, all that effort was more than just an act of giving.

“The smiles on these children’s faces when they see they really got what they want from Santa, it just makes your heart so happy,” said student Lahari Challa.

The kids were over the moon once they found out that Santa got exactly what they wanted.

The kids’ parents cherished the moment.

“I’ve never seen her this happy. It made me feel some type of way, very happy, very emotional,” said Ivonne Cardona.

This marked the 26th year pre-med students from the Broward and Palm Beach campuses have hosted the holiday party.

68-year-old trauma survivor gives surgeon who saved his life a musical surprise at Broward Health Medical Center https://wsvn.com/news/local/broward/68-year-old-trauma-survivor-gives-surgeon-who-saved-his-life-a-musical-surprise-at-broward-health-medical-center/ Thu, 11 Dec 2025 21:07:27 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649986 A trauma survivor is back on the sax and giving back to those who saved his life.

Sixty-eight-year-old Gregory McKnight filled Broward Health Medical Center’s cafeteria with music on Thursday.

During his visit, he surprised his trauma surgeon who kept him alive and able to play his saxophone again, in a full-circle moment following his health scare.

“If it wasn’t for Dr. [Jose] Lozada, I wouldn’t be able to play my horn anymore,” said McKnight.

McKnight, a Vietnam veteran, was worried he would never be able to play his instrument ever again after he was run over by a U-Haul truck in 2021 and was taken to Broward Health with severe life threatening injuries.

“He got hit by a U-Haul, protecting his wife. He pushed his wife out of the way and took the whole hit of the U-Haul,” said Lozada.

The doctor said he made it his mission to help the victim regain his mobility and his quality of life.

“I wasn’t only worried about having you be alive, but also having your life back,” said Lozada.

On Thursday, Lozada was surprised by McKnight when he performed for him as a way of showing his gratitude for saving his life all those years ago.

“I really can’t say this enough, I can’t thank Lozada,” said McKnight.

Lozada and McKnight shared a moment together as the performer said he is not only surviving, but is also thriving.

“For me, this is the best reward I can have. When you’re back playing that saxophone, that is going to be my gift,” said Lozada.

“Thank god, and thank you,” McKnight told the doctor.

“I think today is proving the fact that you got your life back,” said Lozada.

Now, McKnight is back making music and grateful for a second chance at life.

2 small planes crash hours apart on separate incidents in Central Florida https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida/2-small-planes-crash-hours-apart-on-separate-incidents-in-central-florida/ Tue, 09 Dec 2025 21:55:18 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649394 Two separate small planes crash-landed in Central Florida just hours apart.

The first of Monday’s crashes happened earlier in the day, when a small plane landed across from a high school parking lot in DeLand.

“We were running by, we see the traffic, like, it’s blocked off. We look over, and there’s a plane on the ground,” said witness Seth Singer.

The plane ended up on its side with a door hanging open. According to police, both people on board the aircraft were conscious and taken to the hospital.

“It’s scary, everyone just be safe, and I’m praying for everyone, whoever was on the plane,” said Singer.

Officials said the plane lost power in both engines during a training flight.

The second crash happened Monday evening on Interstate 95 in Brevard County.

Officials said the plane’s pilot reported engine problems and was forced to land on the highway.

The plane later struck a car in its path, ripping apart the roof, passenger door, and trunk.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 57-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

“They’re very lucky; they’re very lucky that they made it,” said a witness.

The plane was carried away on a flatbed truck, leaving nearby drivers in shock by what they heard.

“I just thought it was a huge wreck, like a semi hitting something; that’s what it sounded like,” said a witness.

The Federal Aviation Administration said two people were on board but were not injured in the crash.

“I saw the airplane up on the concrete barrier, FAA, a lot of people, helicopters flying around, so pretty exciting out here,” said a witness.

Both of the plane crashes remain under investigation.

The city’s “No Vacancy” art competition is back, turning hotel lobbies into pop-up art spaces for a month-long showcase.

If you see a “No Vacancy” sign in Miami Beach this month. It might be a sign that the art has moved in.

The competitive Miami Beach art program is back for its sixth year!

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “No vacancy, Miami Beach is a temporary public art program by the city of Miami Beach. It’s a wonderful way that the city is able to showcase the two industries that we are known for, which are tourism and arts and culture.”

Twelve hotels across the Art Deco playground will boast art crafted by local artists, and that includes all kinds of expression:

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “You’re seeing anything from sculptures to video to painting, photography.”

She’s right.

You’ll be orbed into an artist dream when you check out “LIZN’BOW” latest creation at the betsy hotel.

Bow Ty: “All of our projects and all the things we worked on over the years, we’re creating all this digital art and media. We started bringing all these things together in this broader multiverse.”

Liz Ferrer: “Universe! The orb, the piece on the orb, has a little bit of everything.”

Like…

Liz Ferrer: “We have like a large inflatable that’s a unicorn cow on a jetski, for example.”

Bow Ty: “Yeah, you’ll see Liz’s grandma, her abuela.”

Liz Ferrer: “My grandma’s in it.”

Bow Ty: “riding a bicycle through the air.”

And they had to put the 305 in there.

Liz Ferrer: “You’ll also see that Miami’s in it. It’s a little bit submerged underwater, so we’re also talking about climate change in it.”

When you hit the Rivera suites, you’re gonna wanna think pink. “Heartware” by Artist Fabiola Larios suspends from the hotel entryway!

Fabiola Larios: “I think it’s a great opportunity and I love how they give us spaces to work and put out our art.”

And just a few blocks over at the Shelborne by Proper, you’ll find interactive artwork by Lee Pivnik.

Lee Pivnik: “We’re looking at my installation called Wellspring, and it’s a look into my practice, which spans video, sculpture, and sci-fi storytelling.”

Grab some headphones: You will need them!

Lee Pivnik: “It’s about a 4-minute video. It’s from the point of view of an octopus that’s kind of lying in a tidepool, and someone comes and pokes at it, and it jumps out on the land and starts becoming different people.”

This isn’t just for show – there’s real money on the line.

Lissette Garcia Arrogante: “No vacancy, Miami Beach has two prizes. It has a juror’s prize, and it has a people’s choice, so the total is 35 thousand dollars in prizes that these artists are up for each year.”

Liz Ferrer: “If you show us you voted for us, we’ll get you a free bow.”

Bow Ty: “Like one of these.”

Liz Ferrer: “We’ll buy 500 bows, we’ll pass them out. We’ll be here in the alley, and we’ll eat some pizza. Bada bing bada boom.”

“No Vacancy” will be on display at the hotels until Dec. 20, which means it is still time to vote for your favorite artist.

FIFA Miami Host Committee and Brightline team up to create volunteer program ahead of 2026 World Cup https://wsvn.com/sports/fifa-miami-host-committee-and-brightline-team-up-to-create-volunteer-program-ahead-of-2026-world-cup/ Mon, 08 Dec 2025 21:38:34 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1649043 FIFA World Cup fever has arrived in Miami and it’s all starting with a new base of operations for volunteers.

The FIFA Miami Host Committee partnered with Brightline to launch a new volunteer program at the train company’s Miami station.

“This is the face of the whole effort and they will be in the front line, welcoming all the people into our community,” said Rodney Barreto, the committee’s chairman.

The station will serve as a volunteer center hub for all things FIFA, including training, uniform distribution and deployment ahead of the city playing host for multiple games during the 2026 World Cup.

“It’s important we have people who are trained, who can direct people in the right direction and make sure they stay out of harm’s way,” said Barreto.

Thousands of volunteers are expected to go out and represent the City of Miami on a global stage.

“It’s a great environment for them to really get to understand what the mission here is in terms of hosting a World Cup, and being the face of Miami at all of these events that are going to be happening throughout the course of the summer,” said Brightline Florida CEO Patrick Goddard.

While there will be many first time volunteers, several volunteers from the Club World Cup are already committed to return and are eager for the new experience.

“I look forward to meeting another group of friends that I made from Club World Cup at FIFA World Cup here in Miami,” said volunteer Eric Romeo. “And also just the experience of having something like the World Cup here in South Florida, it’s an honor just to be part of it.”

Officials say the hub’s location will emphasize Miami’s commitment to connectivity, sustainability and hospitality, ensuring volunteers and visitors will be able to move efficiently across South Florida.

Officials hope this approach shows Miami’s readiness and unity, combining efforts from the Host Committee, FIFA, Brightline, local government and the slew of volunteers from the community and deliver a world-class FIFA World Cup experience for fans.

“This is gonna be like seven Super Bowls in one summer. It’s gonna be very exciting. We say bring it on, it’s gonna be a lot of fun,” said Goddard.

You can catch some of the action starting in June on Channel 7.

Home in Sanford destroyed when charging Tesla burst into flames https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida/home-in-sanford-destroyed-when-charging-tesla-burst-into-flames/ Thu, 04 Dec 2025 21:39:35 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1648108 SANFORD, Fla.(WSVN) — A house in Sanford was destroyed when a Tesla burst into flames.

There was little left to be salvaged in what remained of the Raky family home after Mina Raky’s prized Tesla caught fire.

The garage was left a charred mess and completely gutted in the aftermath.

“Just the trauma, we are all traumatized at this point,” said Mina.

Mina said he heard pops and crackling at around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, when he checked his garage, he saw smoke coming from the bottom of his Tesla, which was charging at the time.

“I saw this black smoke coming out, black smoke coming out from everywhere,” said Mina.

Mina then frantically raced to get his four children and wife out of the house.

His oldest daughter, Lily, who was trying to do the same, almost didn’t make it as she searched for her brother.

“I was not supposed to get out of the house,” said Lily. “After I walk into his room, that is where I lose all sight, hearing, I can’t feel my body anymore.”

She said she didn’t know how, but she managed to jump out of the second-story window, landing on the screened-in porch, where she was then able to get down to safety.

A Sanford Police officer returned to the home to rescue their dog, Leo, after the entire Raky family had made it out safely.

Mina said he’s haunted by the look on Leo’s face during the fire.

“I saw him crying the last time,” said Mina. “I’m glad he’s out; then there’s hope.”

According to a report from the Sanford Fire Department, “the origin of the fire was found to be at or around the Tesla charging station in the garage.”

The remains of the charging station can be seen charred, and the Tesla was towed outside the garage, where only the shell remained.

After the smoke cleared, Lily was able to save some simple things: cards, words of kindness from friends and loved ones.

“This is a note from my boyfriend when we first started dating,” said Lily.

She also rescued a little statue of Jesus, but, as Lily sees it, he rescued her.

Tesla has not commented on the fire.

Take your pickleball game to the next level while taking a dip in the water on Boatsetter’s floating courts https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/take-your-pickleball-game-to-the-next-level-while-taking-a-dip-in-the-water-on-boatsetters-floating-courts/ Thu, 04 Dec 2025 02:32:24 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1647855 For pickleball and boat lovers out there, we have a special mash-up to tell you about. A floating pickleball court is now serving up some serious fun, all thanks to a trendsetter company that’s all about paddling into new territory, and it’s kind of challenging.

Diving for a pickleball is intense.

But what if you did it on water?

Julia Gonzalez: “I have never been in a floating pickleball court. I’ve been on a normal pickleball court. It was actually more fun ’cause of, like, the slippery aspect of, you know, you get in the water.”

Boatsetter is turning a Miami boat day into a dink and splash day.

Elisa O’Reilly: “We basically connect people to other people to experience the beauty of being on the water. The idea of bringing one of Miami’s favorite sports, or most popular sports at the moment, to the water felt very natural and innovative for Boatsetter to meet culture and Miami locals where they are.”

Just in time for art week, this special add-on aboard the Jerico is a match made in the ocean.

Elisa O’Reilly: “The floating pickleball court add-on is available for bookings exclusively through Boatsetter. It includes a minimum of a four-hour charter for 12 guests, refreshments, pickleball paddles, pickleballs, and pickleballs themselves.”

The balls are biodegradable so it won’t hurt the fishes.

Elisa O’Reilly: “I recommend coming in something sporty, any athleisure wear, but bring your swimsuit, you’ll wanna jump in. You’ll be pretty hot by the end of it, and you might be slipping and sliding. Depends on how competitive it gets.”

Oh, it’s game on!

Elisa O’Reilly: “Credit to Jason, owner of Jerico. He is already well known in the area for his floating water park. So when we’re thinking about who we can work with to make this dream a reality, it’s very obvious that Jason was the owner to do it with.”

Julia Gonzalez: “It’s very Miami, I mean, we’re on a beautiful yacht, on a pickleball court. I think anyone coming by would be, like, ‘Yeah, only in Miami.'”

You can add on — six, seven, or more experiences through Boatsetters, including this ultimate water experience.

Bodycam video shows moment Port St. Lucie Police officers were met with gunfire after responding to home; officer injured https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida/bodycam-video-shows-moment-port-st-lucie-police-officers-were-met-with-gunfire-after-responding-to-home-officer-injured/ Wed, 03 Dec 2025 00:47:11 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1647493 PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WSVN) — Bodycam footage captured the moments officers in Port St. Lucie came under a hail of gunfire after they responded to a home disturbance.

Monday evening’s confrontation between officers and the armed subject ended with an officer being shot in the face and the subject dead.

According to police, it all began when officers responded to the disturbance call along the 11000 block of Southwest Lake Park Drive.

Officials said the gunman was armed with an assault rifle and opened fire on the officers within a minute of their arrival.

Two videos capture the moment the officers were met with gunfire.

“What are we doing? Where is he at? Where is he at?” asked an officer as they took cover behind a police cruiser.

The footage then captures a barrage of bullets being fired upon the area of the officers.

“Where is he? Where is he?” asked another officer.

“Hold! Hold! Keep your head down!” said another officer.

Once the gunfire stops, officers point their weapons at the subject and yell at him to show them his hands.

“Let me see your hands!” yelled the officers.

That’s when they noticed one of their deputies was hurt.

“Sarge, are you OK?” asked an officer.

Sgt. Erik LeVasseur was shot twice in the face during the confrontation, according to officials.

Officers said the 32-year-old suspect, Frankie Riccio, ignored their orders to put his gun down and was fatally shot by officers.

After the confrontation, one of the officers is seen kicking away Riccio’s weapon.

No other officer was injured by the gunfire.

Police believe it started as a neighbor dispute related to mental health.

As of Tuesday afternoon, LeVasseur was out of surgery, and he remains in the intensive care unit in critical condition.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the incident.

Michelle Pfeiffer tells Deco what every mom wants to hear for Christmas in new holiday comedy, ‘Oh. What. Fun.’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/michelle-pfeiffer-tells-deco-what-every-mom-wants-to-hear-for-christmas-in-new-holiday-comedy-oh-what-fun/ Tue, 02 Dec 2025 01:06:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1647091 It’s the most wonderful time of the year, or so they say. It’s also the most stressful time of the year, especially when you’re a mom trying to deck the halls for everyone and not getting the credit you deserve! Well, turn that frown upside down because laughter is the best medicine, and there’s a new comedy coming to Prime Video this week that’s sure to make your spirits brighter.

Talk about the mother of all Christmases!

Michelle Pfeiffer is a mom on a mission to make spirits bright in “Oh. What. Fun.”

But her family’s apathy for everything she does during the holidays has her saying “bah humbug.”

I mean, who could blame her?

Michelle Pfeiffer: “Honestly though, it’s the tip of the iceberg in this film, in terms of what women accomplish behind-the-scenes that they get no credit for, no appreciation for.”

Preach, sister.

Because this movie is all about making mamas feel seen.

Michelle Pfeiffer: “Really, the principle of it is, let’s appreciate moms more.”

And even though it’s not even out yet, it’s already having that effect behind-the-scenes!

Just ask Denis Leary!

Denis Leary: “This is why my wife loved the movie when she saw it. Because she was like, ‘This is the truth about moms and Christmas.'”

Felicity Jones, Dominic Sessa and Chloë Grace Moretz play Michelle and Denis’ kids in the movie. Jason Schwartzman is the son-in-law.

They tell Deco that for them, it’s not officially the holiday season until…

Chloë Grace Moretz: “Ice skating. I feel like it’s, that’s the moment where I’m like, ‘Hell yeah, it is Christmas time!”

Dominic Sessa: “Yeah, I agree. It’s like skating outdoors.”

Chloë Grace Moretz: “Yeah.”

Dominic Sessa: “That’s hard to beat for sure, especially if you’re in, like, New York City.”

Felicity Jones: “‘Love, Actually’ became that film that until ‘Love, Actually,’ until I’ve seen it for the 10th time, it is not yet Christmas.”

Jason Schwartzman: “To me, what signals the holidays is the ornaments. We’re unwrapping things, we’re seeing what survived the terrible packing job that I’ve done the previous year.”

And when it comes to those three magical little words everyone wants to hear this time of year…

Felicity Jones: “That’s the best one: I brought wine.”

Chloë Grace Moretz: “I made food.”

Dominic Sessa: “I made food. Dinner is ready.”

Chloë Grace Moretz: “Yeah.”

Jason Schwartzman: “Synthesizers for you!”

Denis Leary: “You just want to hear, like, somebody genuinely say, ‘What can I do? Can I help?'”

Michelle Pfeiffer: “‘Let me take this trash out.'”

Denis Leary: “Yeah.”

Michelle Pfeiffer: “Not even ask. ‘Oh, I see the trash needs emptying. Let me get that. Oh, let me load the dishwasher.'”

Attorney for Miami real estate broker claims that no alcohol was in client’s system after deadly crash https://wsvn.com/news/local/miami-dade/attorney-for-miami-real-estate-broker-claims-that-no-alcohol-was-in-clients-system-after-deadly-crash/ Mon, 01 Dec 2025 23:53:41 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1647072 The attorney for George Pino, the man who is charged with manslaughter in a 2022 boat crash on Labor Day, which killed one teenage girl, says that no alcohol was detected in his system following the crash.

Moments after the incident, police bodycam video shows responding officers asking Pino about taking a blood alcohol test.

“I’d like to ask permission to draw your blood. It’s up to you completely,” said an officer.

He refused to take a blood test, instead admitting to police that he had two beers.

“No, I had two beers,” said Pino.

Hours after the incident, his blood test was taken at Baptist Hospital.

Alcohol takes 60 to 90 minutes to reach peak levels before it begins to break down, according to a Cleveland Clinic report.

Investigators say that the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. in September 2022, and the Miami Herald reports that Pino had his blood drawn around 11:30 p.m. the same day.

Prosecutor Laura Adams has requested the hospital records, according to the Herald, including the files involving what led up to the crash and Pino’s statement to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigators.

FWC officials did not give Pino a blood alcohol test, despite requiring it for training regarding boating accidents involving serious injuries or deaths.

Investigators found more than 60 empty bottles and cans of alcohol on the boat.

The Pinos were celebrating their daughter’s 18th birthday with 11 close friends on the boat heading to Elliot Key in Biscayne Bay.

Seventeen-year-old Lucy Fernandez was killed, and Katy Puig was seriously injured in the crash.

Investigators say that Pino was behind the wheel during the accident when his boat crashed into a channel marker off Boca Chita, ejecting everyone on board the boat.

“We were going through the last marker, there was a boat coming through which was bigger, so the waves, I was veering to the right to cut into the waves, and I lost a little control, and I think I turned,” Pino told police.

Pino is facing manslaughter and vessel homicide charges, and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His trial is scheduled for June 2026.

Music superstars like Shakira, Stevie Nicks, Pentatonix and more to bring the heat to SoFlo in December concerts https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/music-superstars-like-shakira-stevie-nicks-pentatonix-and-more-to-bring-the-heat-to-soflo-in-december-concerts/ Sat, 29 Nov 2025 00:30:02 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1646313 Here’s something that shouldn’t come as a surprise: There’s no snow in the forecast for us this winter. In fact, it’s hotter than ever, but not because of the weather.

Some of the biggest names in music are coming to SoFlo next month, and they’re bringing the heat.

Stevie Nicks (singing): “Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night, and wouldn’t you love to love her?”

The month of December is off to a rockin’ start! Stevie Nicks returns to the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on Dec. 10.

The reigning queen of rock ‘n’; roll was supposed to perform there earlier this year, but she had to postpone it due to a shoulder injury. Previously purchased tickets will be honored.

Brandy and Monica (singing): “I’m sorry that you seem to be confused. He belongs to me. The boy is mine.”

Forget the boy. The stage is theirs! Brandy and Monica are reunited, and it feels so good.

The R&B superstars are bringing “The Boy Is Mine” tour to the Kaseya Center in Downtown Miami on Dec. 13. Special guests include Kelly Rowland and Muni Long.

Pentatonix (singing): “Baby, maybe you and me, yeah, we could be celebrating Christmas in the city. We could go wherever, whatever the weather.”

Celebrate Christmas in the city with Pentatonix! The beloved a cappella group is bringing their annual holiday tour to the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise.

This is Scott Hoying’s first time hitting the road since competing on “Dancing with the Stars” this season. You can hear the group hit those high notes, and maybe bust a move or two, on Dec. 15.

MGK (singing): “Tell me, would you wait for me? Baby, I’m a rolling stone. I got a lot of right in me, but I don’t wanna say this wrong.”

‘Tis the season to sing along and party with MGK! The artist formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly is just one of the many acts playing at this year’s Y100.7 Jingle Ball. Nelly will be there, too. It’s all going down at the Kaseya Center on Dec. 20.

Shakira (singing): “Oh, baby when you talk like that, you make a woman go mad.”

What’s better than one Shakira concert? Two Shakira concerts, of course!

The Latin music legend is performing back-to-back nights at Hard Rock Live on Dec. 27 and 28. It’s part of her “Up Close & Personal” shows, which provide a more intimate experience than her massive world tour stops.

Jonas Brothers (singing): “So don’t get stressed it’s gon’ get figured out. Ooo, deep conversations at the waffle house.”

Say goodbye to 2025 and hello to the Jonas Brothers! These guys are ready to ring in the new year in the 954.

Joe, Nick and Kevin will all hit the stage at Hard Rock Live on Dec. 31 for a two-hour show that kicks off at 10 p.m. The event will be livestreamed exclusively on Samsung TV+ … but why sit and watch it at home, when you can be there in person?

Nashbash brings a taste of Music City to Miami Art Week — and it’s much more than country https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/nashbash-brings-a-taste-of-music-city-to-miami-art-week-and-its-much-more-than-country/ Fri, 28 Nov 2025 00:32:34 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1646039 There’s no denying Nashville has a huge country music scene. But that’s not the only genre hitting a high note in the music city. Deco’s getting the 411 on a festival that’s ready to rock the 305 this weekend.

Saddle up and let the good times roll! Miami Art Week is getting off to a rockin’ start, all thanks to Nashbash.

Nashbash organizer: “Nashbash is a one-day festival that showcases the best of Nashville in Miami.”

This event is more than just a concert at the Miami Beach Bandshell. It’s a celebration of the different kinds of music making waves in Tennessee.

Someone: “A lot of people, especially in other states, associate Nashville only with country music. But Nashville is so much more than country. It’s got an incredible alt rock scene, Americana scene, all sorts of genres.”

Maggie Rose (singing): “This life is going to leave you breathless, but you catch it every time.”

One act taking the stage is Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Maggie Rose. She’s one of the festival’s co-headliners. And you can count on her to bring the soul and Americana vibes.

Nashbash organizer: “She is one of the most incredible voices that leaves people’s jaws on the floor.”

Also on the lineup is alternative rock band Moon Taxi.

Trevor Terndrup (singing): “If you’re a little bit scared, be a little bit brave. Don’t ever be afraid to say what you gotta say.”

They’re closing out the event, and they’re super excited to play their first show in Miami Beach.

Trevor Terndrup: “It’s our first time there, so we wanna get it right.”

But that’s not the only reason they can’t wait to come to the 305.

Trevor Terndrup: “We’re stoked because it actually snowed here in Nashville this morning, so Miami in November sounds pretty awesome to us.”

Moon Taxi has played major festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella. So they know what it takes to get the crowd hyped up.

Trevor Terndrup: “The music is diverse. It’s really dance-y. It’s sing-along, it’s engaging, and it’s perfect for beach vibes.”

Trevor Terndrup (singing): “Once we’re gone, this place won’t be the same. We’ll go down together in the hall of fame.”

Nash Bash is going down this Sunday.

‘It’s Florida, Man.’ creator Jeff Tomsic joins Deco ahead of Season 2 debut https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/its-florida-man-creator-jeff-tomsic-joins-deco-ahead-of-season-2-debut/ Fri, 28 Nov 2025 00:31:35 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1646123 If you’ve ever wondered what happens when real Florida headlines become TV, buckle up. HBO’s hit comedy “It’s Florida, Man.” is back, and let’s just say the chaos did not calm down — from unbelievable run-ins to the kind of trouble only Floridians could find. The show’s creator sat down with Deco and warmed us up for the wild ride.

If you think a story is too ridiculous to be true, it probably happened right here in Florida.

Interview Subject in “It’s Florida, Man”: “I’m living the state motto, ‘come here on vacation, stay on probation.'”

The HBO original comedy “It’s Florida, Man.” is back for Season 2.

Interview Subject in “It’s Florida, Man”: “There ain’t no telling what might go down!”

Deco sat down with the show’s creator, director and executive producer, Jeff Tomsic, to find out what’s in store for the new season.

Jeff Tomsic: “First season we were chasing after headlines, and this season we have asked people to submit their own stories, so every story this season was volunteered to us.”

And these stories are just as wild.

Jeff Tomsic: “There’s a guy in our second episode that did way too many drugs and ended up trapped in a Little Caesars Pizza and getting arrested.”

Sure, these true accounts are meant to make you laugh, but they can also double as self-help.

Jeff Tomsic: “He wanted to tell that story because he got over his drug problem, and being embarrassed this badly was the rock bottom he had to hit to make a big change.”

Season 2 brings, big names like Tiffany Haddish, Johnny Knoxville and Adam Devine to reenact these crazy stories.

Jeff Tomsic: “I knew that I wanted certain people in the show, and I was just hoping it aligned with who the real characters were. For Johnny Knoxville and Tiffany, I kind of invented roles for them that wasn’t necessarily big parts of the real story.”

Jeff says the show is not meant to make fun of Florida, but actually to pay homage.

Jeff Tomsic: “I’m always looking for a hopeful story. I want to make this a love letter to Florida, so I don’t want this to make you feel worse about yourself or about Florida after you watch.”

Season 2 of “It’s Florida, Man.” premieres on HBO and HBO Max this Friday.

Emily’s Garden is the perfect spot for foodies to get a breathe of fresh air and delicious bites https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/emilys-garden-is-the-perfect-spot-for-foodies-to-get-a-breathe-of-fresh-air-and-delicious-bites/ Thu, 27 Nov 2025 01:05:39 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1645950 Mom’s always say “fresh air is good for you.” She was right, of course, which is why mom would love Emily’s Garden. It’s an outdoor dining spot where foodies gather to satisfy their appetites for great food and good times.

Emily’s Garden in Fort Lauderdale is made up of a lot of moving parts.

Claudia: “So Emily’s Garden is a restaurant where we have different vendors within the core concept of Emily’s.”

That means you can get locally-sourced brews from vendors like On the Run Coffee Bar or the All-American Breakfast, courtesy of the River Cafe.

Claudia: “And each one of those businesses within Emily’s contributes to the main restaurant.”

It’s a cool way to please the clientele and turn the competition into teammates.

Claudia: “I believe it was just a concept that we had such a large space and to give the customers as many options as possible and give other businesses an opportunity as well to join in and create something.”

Don’t get the wrong idea. Emily’s does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to turning out your meal.

Claudia: “Charcuterie boards, pizza, entrees from the dinner menu are all gonna be Emily’s.”

There is an item that’s completely home-made.

Claudia: “We make all our fresh bread in-house. It’s actually one of the things we take huge pride in because I think a lot of people really appreciate that.”

The crafted gelato is another house favorite.

It’ll get your motor running.

Claudia: “We have our gelato car. A lot of people see it outside, they love it. We have amazing gelato flavors, there’s lots of options.”

One of those options is the affogato. It’s a big scoop of vanilla gelato topped with hot espresso.

Claudia: “Affogato is also Emily’s.”

The idea is to enjoy all this tasty stuff in the outdoor garden.

Claudia: “It’s a huge, huge, beautiful space. Lots of greenery, lots of outdoor kitchens.”

Diners don’t live by food alone at Emily’s; the air is filled with music.

And spoken word rules the spotlight here once a month.

Guest: “But it was never about the big story. It was always about the small, seemingly insignificant details.”

One thing’s for sure, there’s nothing insignificant about Emily’s Garden.

Claudia: “It’s just a wonderful place for couples, families. Everybody should come check it out.”

The Carousel Club decks these halls for Christmas drinks, collectible cups at the Miracle Pop-up Bar https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/the-carousel-club-decks-these-halls-for-christmas-drinks-collectible-cups-at-the-miracle-pop-up-bar/ Wed, 26 Nov 2025 01:06:39 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1645622 The holidays are rolling in fast. At Carousel Club, they’re bringing in the jolly season with the biggest decorations — and shiniest balls you’ve seen. Of course, we mean Christmas ornaments, and thanks to the Miracle Bar — ’tis the season to get your spirits up.

The Miracle Pop-up Bar and their sippin’ Santas are spreading wonder all over the world and decided to land at Gulfstream’s Carousel Club.

Emi Guerra: “Miracles are part of the season and the Miracle Bar really does it right and it’s what they’re known for. And at Carousel Club, we really wanted to take it up another notch so we thought there’s a perfect partnership to really blend the two things together.”

From their Christmas carol barrel mugs to their newest — the miracle mouse mugs, these collectibles are the cutest.

Emi Guerra: “All the glassware, and the mugs that it comes in, can be bought and taken home. Their shots come with a take-home shot glass. Two of my favorite are the Christmopolitan and the snowball old-fashioned.”

But the decorations are the biggest presents of all.

Emi Guerra: “There’s quite a few Christmas gifts right here, just for Deco Drive. They’re hanging in the ceiling. They’re ten foot cubes or boxes. Plus you have these six foot ornaments overtaking the place.”

A complete cheery takeover.

Emi Guerra: “It’s a Christmas explosion! The second you walk in, the spirit just overtakes you. There’s so many lights. So much incredible decor. I think we have like 20 or 30 Christmas trees in here. We have Santas everywhere, toy soldiers everywhere, candy canes all over the place.”

Giving people a major dose of FOMO, AKA fear of missing out.

Alexandra Martinez: “Why not be here? The drinks, the people, the ambiance, everything is amazing here. You don’t want to walk out here. You want to be here all day long.”

The Miracle Bar at Carousel Club is open now until Dec. 28.

Woman forced to put beloved dog down after coyote attack outside Boynton Beach home https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida/woman-forced-to-put-beloved-dog-down-after-coyote-attack-outside-boynton-beach-home/ Thu, 20 Nov 2025 22:54:51 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1643800 BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — A vicious coyote attack killed a pet owner’s dog in a Boynton Beach neighborhood.

Sandra Cimeli shared her account of the horrific incident.

The Boynton Beach resident had been walking her three dogs and was in her driveway when out of nowhere, a coyote came after them, circling after the dogs.

“It came out of nowhere and she was going after all three and there’s only one of me,” said Cimeli.

Cimeli managed to bring two of her dogs inside and tried driving the animal off, as captured in surveillance video.

“I got these two in the house and ran after her, I had my flip flops on and threw them off. I was pulling and pulling and the neighbors heard me screaming,” she said.

Despite her best efforts, one of her dogs, Megan, was attacked by the coyote. After some time, the owner got ahold of the injured Megan.

“I finally got her in my arms and left a trail of blood all through the street and the house and we immediately brought her to the hospital,” she said.

While she says she was expecting Megan to return home the next day from the hospital, Cimeli said the animal’s declining health forced her to put Megan down.

Now, she plans to prepare for the future with her other two dogs.

“I don’t leave now without my coyote whistle and pepper spray,” she said. “But I don’t even know if that’s enough, especially when they’re small like this,” she said.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials stated that the coyote was located, humanely killed, and sent for testing after the incident.

Deco takes you out on the perfect dinner date at these SoFlo museums https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-takes-you-out-on-the-perfect-dinner-date-at-these-soflo-museums/ Thu, 20 Nov 2025 02:47:50 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1643531 Deco is taking you out for some food and a little culture. Because around SoFlo, there are a couple of spots serving art, with a side of carbs. Forget dinner and a movie, instead check out these two museums, two meals and zero guilt.

Julie Ann Emery as Casey in “Hitch”: “Did you ever hear of this guy that they call the date doctor?”

Eva Mendes as Sara in “Hitch”: “Urban myth.”

Julie Ann Emery as Casey in “Hitch”: “Really?”

Eva Mendes as Sara in “Hitch”: “Absolutely.”

A date doctor like “Hitch” is not necessary to plan a date in SoFlo because there are tons of options, like dinner and a museum.

Daniel Florit: “I think it’s a good way to meet somebody if it’s a first date. It’s a cute idea to come look at some art, have some good conversations then have some cocktails, some nice appetizers and just see where the night leads.”

At the Pérez Art Museum Miami, there’s a hidden foodie gem with true masterpiece meals.

Daniel Florit: “A lot of people don’t know we’re here actually. But no, this location is outstanding. Verde is an amazing restaurant located inside the Pérez Art Museum. We have an amazing menu that’s inspired by art with an amazing chef, Valerie.”

And this chef gets creative with the dishes.

Maritza Lacayo: “We have a tremendous privilege here where we work with our chef, who is wonderful. And she’s inspired by our shows. And so we have conversations with the kitchen, with the chef, and we tell them about the show and they create dishes that are inspired by the exhibition.”

Thursday nights, the PAMM is open late to chow down, enjoy art and enjoy those Miami views.

Martiza Lacayo: “I think if you’re going to come to the museum, you need to be well nourished. You can breeze through any museum, right? But we really offer opportunities for people to slow down. There’s so many works in the collection that require a little bit more contemplation so it’s great that you can come here, take a break.”

Over in Allapattah, Jon & Vinny’s is turning the Rubell Museum into a full-blown carb spot.

Damien Kinkela: “This is the first one outside of L.A. in the US. Jon and Vinny actually went to school in South Florida. Our hits, some of the dishes that are a little iconic to our brand, things like the spicy fusilli, the marinara braised meatballs, our pizzas, which are all fantastic.”

Walking around the 30 galleries takes energy and makes the perfect combination.

Alexandra Perez: “We exhibit the work from the Rubell’s private collection, which is now over 7,000 works of art. We thought it was a great fit for us. Museumgoers sometimes they want to make their museum experience a little bit more than that and have a nice dinner and cocktail after so Jon & Vinny’s can kind of do both of that.”

Step into the 1950s for some burgers, fritas and Cuban-American flair at El Cuban Diner https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/step-into-the-1950s-for-some-burgers-fritas-and-cuban-american-flair-at-el-cuban-diner/ Wed, 19 Nov 2025 02:37:45 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1643163 Things from the past always have a way of coming back in style and not just when it comes to fashion. Deco’s checking out a nifty spot in the 305 that’s rolling back the clock to the good old happy days. Poodle skirts and leather jackets optional.

Vintage vibes and a roarin’ good time.

Order up! El Cuban Diner is serving up the classics with a side of nostalgia in Little Havana.

Earl Campos Devine: “We want to bring back the idea of the diners from the 1950s, but also the Cuban DNA that we have in our company.”

Talk about a blast from the past!

The restaurant is inspired by pre-revolutionary Cuba, mixed with that old Americana aesthetic.

Earl Campos Devine: “Everything is sourced, and it’s authentic. You’re gonna see Coca Cola because that’s an emblem, right? And then we have the booths, we have the chrome tables. We have a vintage Coca Cola fridge that you can actually, like in the past, just grab it and pay for it.”

The decor isn’t the only thing with a retro flair.

The menu is also full of old school faves and traditional dishes.

Eliesteban Mena: “We started thinking hot dogs and the American burger and, after that, we link it with the Cuban heritage, like a Cuban sandwich, frita Cubana.”

You can never go wrong with a classic burger and this place is serving ’em in two styles.

Eliesteban Mena: “We use American wagyu ground beef, eight ounces. The bun is brioche, beautiful with fresh vegetables, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions.”

The Cuban version, AKA “la frita,” is a little different.

Eliesteban Mena: “The patty made with beef, made with pork, made with chorizo. We grill it and we serve it with the bread and some aioli and potato sticks too.”

Emely Martinez: “I think it was delicious. It had chorizo in it, which I’m a fan of. It went so well with the fries as well, so I really enjoyed it. “

Other biggies include the Chicago-style dogs and sandwiches.

And to help you wash it all down, think milkshakes and fun floats!

Eliesteban Mena: “If you go to the time, to the ’50s in Cuba, you can find la vaca negra and we serve it here. It’s a soda with the ice cream, vanilla ice cream inside.”

And trust me, this float fizzes, which makes it even more fun to drink!

Emely Martinez: “I have a huge sweet tooth usually after I eat, so I think it’s, like, the perfect little touch you can have after your lunch, especially with the frita. And I think it was delicious. I have nothing but great things to say. I feel like it’s so unique and there’s not really any place like this in Miami.”

Step into the world of Oz for a wicked brunch at The Social Club in Miami Beach https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/step-into-the-world-of-oz-for-a-wicked-brunch-at-the-social-club-in-miami-beach/ Fri, 14 Nov 2025 01:04:43 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1641938 Something wicked this way comes! We know you can’t wait until the new movie hits theaters this month so we found a special event that’s sure to be a witchin’ good time.

Halloween may be over but with “Wicked: For Good” hitting theaters very soon, it’s still the season of the witches for fans!

And that calls for a spell-binding celebration!

Ariana Grande as Glinda: “Here’s the plan. I have no plan.”

Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba: “Well, I do.”

Ariana Grande as Glinda: “Oh, thank Oz.”

The plan is a wickedly fun brunch!

And The Social Club at the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach is totally in on it.

Victoria Palacio: “It’s a fun theatrical experience for guests to sip, sing and step into the Emerald City, all before the movie comes out Nov. 21.”

Ariana Grande as Glinda: “No! No way! I’m obsessed-ulated.”

Me too, Glinda!

Because this isn’t your basic brunch experience.

Victoria Palacio: “We’re gonna decorate the restaurant with all things wicked. They can expect themed food, drinks and some activities, such as friendship bracelets, because Glinda and Elphaba are best friends.”

We’re talking witch hats, tiaras, temporary tattoos and even magical photo ops for you and your besties.

And the menu is just as fun.

Victoria Palacio: “Our team has come up with a really whimsical menu inspired by the world of Oz. We have the ‘Wicked Witch Benny,’ which features a black sesame biscuit, poached eggs and green hollandaise and smoked salmon.”

That one comes topped with a parmesan cheese witch hat.

There’s also the Oz-dust ballroom toast with rose-shaped avocado and radish stars.

And for a sweet treat, take a bite out of the matcha pancakes with yummy whipped cream.

Victoria Palacio: “We wanted to keep it very vibrant and bright just because we know that, with the world of Oz, it’s all colorful.”

And speaking of colorful, check out these showstopping cocktails!

Victoria Palacio: “For the Glinda-inspired cocktail, we created the ‘Popular Potion.’ It’s bright pink and perfectly bubbly just like her.”

The pink drink is vodka-based.

And the bold, emerald Elphie drink is made with rum.

Victoria Palacio: “This is a perfect drink to get with a friend because pink goes good with green.”

Now that’s worth toasting too. Cheers!

The “Wicked” brunch at The Social Club is going down this Saturday.

Luminosa to light up the night at Jungle Island with hundreds of lanterns for a 4th year https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/luminosa-to-light-up-the-night-at-jungle-island-with-hundreds-of-lanterns-for-a-4th-year/ Wed, 12 Nov 2025 03:03:21 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1641181 Rihanna wants you to shine bright like a diamond, and Katy Perry wants you to own the night like a firework on the Fourth of July. That’s cool and all, but here in SoFlo, there’s an annual festival that’s shining a light on the 305. Deco’s going wild and getting illuminated at Luminosa.

Glow with the flow, and take a walk on the wild side.

Luminosa is back for its fourth year, and it’s ready to light up the night at Jungle Island.

Netzach Sanchez: “It’s actually a Chinese lantern festival, and it includes a bunch of hundreds of different lanterns of different shapes and sizes that’ll be displayed throughout Jungle Island.”

But these aren’t your average, traditional lanterns.

Netzach Sanchez: “Every single lantern is made using about 160 tons of steel, 200,000 feet of fabric and 58,000 thousand LED lights, so it completely transforms Jungle Island after dark.”

This year’s theme is all about bringing a little magic and adventure to the 305.

Netzach Sanchez: “We’re actually taking guests on a trip through the world’s most mystical places — anywhere from the Amazon rainforest to ancient Egypt, African savannas and even an ice kingdom.”

And when it comes to the displays…

Netzach Sanchez: “There’s gonna be a lot of life-size animals, but also some are gonna be a lot larger than life, for sure. We’re also gonna have some hanging elements around, including flowers, different foliage and everything.”

Luminosa is also making the experience even more whimsical by bringing something new to Jungle Island.

Netzach Sanchez: “We’re actually introducing some animatronics and very interactive lanterns that kids are gonna be able to play with. It’s gonna be fun for families and friends.”

And now that you know what to expect, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to bask in the glow of these gleaming lanterns.

Netzach Sanchez: “If you’re coming to Luminosa for the first time, I definitely recommend taking about two to three hours to walk the entire park to really be fully immersed in everything.”

The festival is the perfect Zen zone if you need an escape from the hustle and bustle of this time of year.

Netzach Sanchez: “It’s so Zen and so relaxing. In a place where it’s such a busy city, and there’s so much going on. I think this is a great place to come with family, friends, everyone of all ages to really just relax during the night.”

Luminosa kicks off Nov. 14 and runs through March 7. Jungle Island will also have a holiday village until Jan. 4.

Smallest baby ever born at Memorial Healthcare gets celebratory farewell home https://wsvn.com/news/local/broward/smallest-baby-ever-born-at-memorial-healthcare-gets-celebratory-farewell-home/ Tue, 11 Nov 2025 22:42:51 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1641240 The smallest baby ever born at Memorial Healthcare System is heading home after defying all odds.

Bi’Laynie Myna Daucima is a tiny miracle. Born at just 23 weeks of gestation, she weighed less than an apple, about 10.6 ounces.

But months after she was born, doctors and her family are celebrating her farewell home.

“I am so excited that I can’t believe this is actually happening. I am so shocked, like wake up, wake up,” said baby’s mother, Jeamyna Jean Charles.

Her mother spoke about her baby girl’s remarkable journey.

“I actually came in because I had a blood pressure of like 180 over 100, and I was diagnosed with preeclampsia. They told me I was going to stay until I delivered the baby. It just so happened when I turned 23 weeks, Bi’laynie’s blood flow started going backwards, and it was like a life or death situation whether it was going to be me or her, or if they don’t get her out, it’s going to be her,” said Jean Charles.

The medical staff at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit told the mom, Daucima’s chances of survival were slim, but the little fighter had other plans.

“We took a leap of faith, we delivered her. When she came out, she came out with one eye open, like, ‘I am ready! I am here!’ So this is Bi’laynie, our miracle baby of 23 weeks.”

From the srart, her care team at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital did all they could to help her survive. They placed the baby girl on high-frequency ventilation to help her breathe and placed tiny IV lines in her veins.

Jean Charles said she is thankful for the hard work of the whole team.

“I am very grateful for the whole NICU team at Memorial, Joe DiMaggio; they did a wonderful job. The whole NICU staff that was in the west, east, I am just so grateful,” she said.

After a long health journey, Daucima is heading home with her proud parents and two big brothers who can’t wait to meet her.

The tiny girl who has the heart of a giant is proving that big miracles can come in very small packages.

“I am super excited. Are you happy, Bi’laynie? Bi’laynie? You ready? I think she’s ready.”

Doctors say Daucima’s story is a reminder of how far medicine– and love– can go to give even the smallest patients a fighting chance.

Dine above the Miami skyline as Japanese fusion ‘Yamashiro’ opens rooftop restaurant https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/dine-above-the-miami-skyline-as-japanese-fusion-yamashiro-opens-rooftop-restaurant/ Tue, 11 Nov 2025 01:01:11 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1640992 From west to east, one of Hollywood’s most iconic hotspots is making a move to the 305. Yamashiro is rolling out the red carpet and sushi rolls to Miamians — rooftop style.

From stunning views to nature’s elements, they’re mixing tradition with Miami flair and bringing a very old door?

“Kill Bill” might’ve trashed the iconic Yamashiro restaurant in Hollywood Hills while filming the deadly flick.

But in Miami, the action’s just getting started.

Carlos Cruz, partner: “After 114 years, we were able to persuade and be able to partner up and bring this beautiful concept for the first time outside of its comfort zone to the beautiful City of Miami. From the 600-year-old door of that pagoda of that sacred building that we brought in.”

…to the lush gardens atop the Gale Miami Hotel.

Carlos Cruz: “Through these pathways, you find little niches, little tables. You have this table at the corner that we call the Sunset Table, surrounded by all these bamboos that with the wind, the sound, the water, the fire, the music, and the good food and drinks. That’s Yamashiro Miami.”

OK, speaking of food and drinks, What’s on the menu?

Chef Charbel Hayek: “It’s sexy food, that’s the best word, I think. It’s a bold and upscale Japanese cuisine that is inspired by the iconic restaurant in Yamashiro Hollywood.”

Of course, there’s sushi and seafood.

Chef Charbel Hayek: “One of my favorite dishes is the Alaskan king crab covered with an amazing hollandaise.”

Their “Three Kings” meat platter is definitely fit for queens, too.

Chef Charbel Hayek: “It’s three different cuts of steaks, we offer Denver steak, bavette, and filet mignon served with XO black sauce and chizo chimichurri.”

Their full bar is rolling in a cart-sized martini show. But the breathtaking views are made for unlimited selfies.

Daniella Alvarez, MOS: “At night, you could see the buildings, all the lights, the city skyline.”

Consumers look for best retailer deals as holiday shopping begins https://wsvn.com/news/us-world/consumers-look-for-best-retailer-deals-as-holiday-shopping-begins/ Mon, 10 Nov 2025 04:16:07 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1639656 Consumers are showing off their holiday spirit online as they begin to look for the best deals ahead of Christmas.

With just under 50 days to go, the Halloween items packed and the holiday decorations unpacked, Americans are ready to spend on Christmas gifts.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans are planning to spend around $890 per person to buy holiday gifts, food, decor, and more in 2025.

But that number is actually less than in 2024, when U.S shoppers spent a record $902 a person.

Experts say the largest piece of the holiday spending pie is gifts. More than $600 is expected to go toward presents.

And this year, with the government shutdown, inflation, and tariffs weighing heavy on so many, consumers are desperate for deals.

“Consumers are embracing discount stores as a part of their shopping list this year. They are prioritizing big box retailers and dollar stores while having less interest in outlet stores and e-commerce sites,” said Mary Hines Droesch, Head of Consumer and Small Business Products and Analytics at Bank of America.

Some retailers are now offering early Black Friday savings from holiday decor to select toys. Even places like Wayfair are boasting up to 70% off cookware, christmas trees, furniture, and more.

Experts say it is never too early to start saving for the holidays.

SoFlo artist designs Godzilla-themed beer cans to celebrate the ‘King of All Monsters’ turning 70 https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/soflo-artist-designs-godzilla-themed-beer-cans-to-celebrate-the-king-of-all-monsters-turning-70/ Fri, 07 Nov 2025 01:08:40 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1639045 When it comes to icons, this one takes a serious bite. Godzilla is turning 70 and he’s celebrating in the most refreshing way possible. Deco caught up with a local artist who’s helping honor the monster legend one can at at time.

Godzilla is roaring its way into a new decade.

The giant lizard is turning 70 and is celebrating with a cold one.

To honor this monstrous milestone, beer company Pabst Blue Ribbon has tapped Miami artist “Attack Peter” to design Godzilla-themed cans!

Attack Peter: “I’m extra proud about it because I was recommended to [Pabst Blue Ribbon] by Toho, the company who owns Godzilla. So it’s a huge honor in that respect.”

Sixty million cans nationwide will boast Peter’s hand-carved designs of Godzilla and three other Japanese monsters.

Attack Peter: “When I was asked to design these cans, I knew what I wanted to do was convey Godzilla front and center, easy to see. I wanted someone to go, ‘What is that?’ and walk up to it and grab it.”

Each design was made using his signature linoleum block prints.

Attack Peter: “What that mean is, essentially, I draw an image on a piece of linoleum. I carve that image out, like making a giant stamp. I roll ink on that carving and press paper on to it.”

For Peter, this gargantuan collab is a full circle moment.

Attack Peter: “I can’t even remember a toy I had before my Godzilla toy. I would carry him everywhere, I would draw Godzilla destroying everything and watch the movies when I was a kid, so yeah, Godzilla has always been a part of my life.”

Star-studded team owners like Marc Anthony, Tom Brady, and Will Smith are sending their racers to go full throttle on the water, and you can wave to them — hi and bye.

Tom Brady: “This is the perfect place to have it. This is the best place in America to do it.”

Thanks, Tom Brady.

Miami is the best, especially for “E1 Powerboat Racing.”

Will Smith: “This is the future of racing.”

Tom Brady: “A very tactical, very strategic, a very fine type of racing.”

Marc Anthony: “It’s a league. It’s me, LeBron James, Tom Brady, Will Smith, Rafa Nadal, Steve Aoki. We formed this league, and it’s E1 racing, and it’s electric boats. They’re like Formula One, but it’s electric, E1, boats on the water.”

Marc Anthony’s team, Miami, and he’s bringing the finals to the 305 for the very first time.

Marc Anthony: “I insisted on the championship being in Miami, and it’s this weekend. It’s gonna be a hoot. Everybody is in the same boat. I designed the colors of the boat. The Miami colors. We’ve been racing for the past two years internationally.”

And just like all the sports, smack-talking is on the menu.

Marc Anthony: “Will Smith’s talking a lot of crap.”

Will Smith: “I think that went really well. You know we can do two on two teams. You know me and you against Tom and Marc. We’ll start there, you know. What do you think?”

Rafa Nadal: “They are good on the radio.”

Will Smith: “Yeah, yeah, yeah.”

Tickets to watch on Biscayne Bay will get you…

David Grutman: “Includes open bar, of course, it’s Miami, open bar, and all the food you can eat. But Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 8.”

Steve Aoki: “The grand finale in Miami. We’ll see you there.”

David Grutman: “E1.”

Marc Anthony: “Everybody’s bringing it this weekend. Everybody’s flying in and ah it’s gonna be a very, very interesting weekend.”

The Latin legend is heading to Sin City for a once-in-a-lifetime residency. Marc chatted with Deco to talk all about it. So gear up for all the hits, hips, and big salsa energy.

Marc Anthony always equals a serious dose of salsa.

Marc Anthony: “Oh, you think so, oh you think so, I’m just kidding. Oh, you know so.”

The superstar is checking off his bucket list and hitting Fontainebleau’s BleauLive Theater with his very first residency — “Vegas… My Way!”

Marc Anthony: “The difference between Vegas and anything I’ve ever done is this is a show I’ve never done in my life. I’m singing songs I haven’t been able to perform live ever. Whether it’s the duets or a combination of the English songs, the Pitbull songs.”

Marc Anthony: “I want everybody to understand that if you’re there that night, I’m gonna enjoy just as much as you are because it’s so fresh. This is bucket list stuff.”

And that means big energy, big emotions, and Marc’s classics with a sprinkle of some new hits.

Marc Anthony: “It’s going to be an intimate night of songs you absolutely love, that I love as well. That has been number one. It’ll change every night. It’s just going to be a celebration of music. Fun intimate, you know Vegas the way I would do it.”

And fans can always expect the heat from the “King of Salsa.”

Marc Anthony: “Well, the fire is within me. I don’t do the whole dancer thing. I have the stadium show, I have the arena show, and what Vegas gives you the opportunity to be consistent. You have one production, the best lights, the best sounds, the best production. The best everything.”

Marc Anthony’s Sin City run starts February 13, and pre-sale tickets will be up for grabs starting tomorrow.

Demi Lovato’s newest album is about having fun and being carefree ahead of her next tour https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/demi-lovatos-newest-album-is-about-having-fun-and-being-carefree-ahead-of-her-next-tour/ Tue, 04 Nov 2025 02:11:59 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1638074 Demi Lovato’s diving back into the spotlight and this time she’s keeping things light. She’s hitting the road after dropping her newest album. Deco got a taste of Demi’s delicious life lately and she’s keeping it cute, catchy and totally carefree.

Demi Lovato is done taking things so seriously.

In her album, “It’s Not That Deep,” Demi’s leaving all the drama at home.

Demi Lovato: “It’s a simple, party fun song and it’s sexy and it’s like, that’s what it is. And I think so much of my past was, like, I want to try and write, you know, deeply emotional songs about my past. And with this album, I was like, ‘I’m in a place where I’m having fun. I want my lyrics to reflect that too.'”

For the pop star, combining heartbreak to a breakthrough is important. Just like in, “Here All Night.”

Demi Lovato: “It’s about someone that’s really struggling through a breakup but they’re going to dance on the dance floor until her heart gets out.”

Tying the knot with her person is a huge part of her journey.

Demi Lovato: “I found the love of my life and we’re married and he helps me feel confident. He helps me, you know, live in the moment. And I think it’s a combination of everything coming together, right?”

And being more mature.

Demi Lovato: “I think there’s something about your 30s too, where you just take a second and you are able to let go of some of the pressures that you once put on yourself maybe in your 20s, and now I’m 33 and I’m not taking myself so seriously because I realize there’s room for everyone.”

Going on the road with this album is just like the most festive time of year.

Demi Lovato: “It’s like waking up on Christmas morning when you’re 6 years old. I was like, ‘Wow, I’m really sure of this album and I’m really sure of this era,’ but so many people are too and that’s really rewarding and I can’t wait to bring the show on the road.”

Demi’s bringing her new music live next year, with a stop in Orlando, April 10.

‘The Witcher’ returns for another season with new faces and mission https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/the-witcher-returns-for-another-season-with-new-faces-and-mission/ Fri, 31 Oct 2025 19:51:06 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1636831 Trolls, zombies, vampires, “The Witcher” is back to take them all on. The only thing is, it won’t be Henry Cavill swinging his sword this time because there are a couple of new faces this season.

It’s “The Witcher” hour. And this season, Geralt of Rivia is not only slicing up monsters, he’s also searching for his adoptive daughter Ciri.

If you don’t recognize The Witcher this time around, your eyesight’s not the problem. Liam Hemsworth is now playing the role instead of Henry Cavill, and he knew he had big boots to fill.

Liam Hensworth: “I did a lot of research into the books, into everything that they’d shot beforehand. For me, I wanted to understand where he’d come from and what he’d done, but I wanted to make sure that by the time I stepped on set, I wasn’t sort of thinking about, previously, I didn’t want to imitate anything that had been done before. I wanted it to feel organic for me.”

Liam isn’t the only person making his debut on this series.

Laurence Fishburne (as Emile Regis): “My name is Emile Regis. I’m a barber surgeon.”

Jeremy Crawford (as Yarpen Zigrin): “You smell like an apothecary shop.”

Laurence Fishburne (as Emile Regis): “Yes.”

So is Laurence Fishburne. He’s excited to join the cast and can’t wait to see where his character goes.

Laurence Fishburne: “I’ve never done anything quite like it, and so I always like to do something a little different. So when they offered me this, I thought, ‘Hm. Can you do it? Does it make sense? Will you fall flat on your face?”

“The Witcher is in a state of flux. You are becoming something new.”

Husky reunites with owner in Tampa — 7 years after being stolen during break-in https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida/husky-reunites-with-owner-in-tampa-7-years-after-being-stolen-during-break-in/ Fri, 31 Oct 2025 11:57:00 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1636533 A Tampa woman and her dog were reunited seven years after someone broke into her home and stole her precious pet.

Officer Bishop with the Tampa Police Department spotted a Siberian husky wandering the streets last week. The canine had no collar and no tags.

The friendly dog hopped into Bishop’s cruiser.

Bishop took his four-legged passenger to the veterinarian to be checked out. A quick microchip scan revealed the animal has an owner who’s been waiting for him for seven years.

Gabrielle Hartley said she lost her dog Luca back in 2018 after a break-in at her home. She reported him missing, and she said she never lost hope.

When asked whether Luca remembered her, Hartley replied, “Yeah, he does, and his nickname. We call him Blue — like just because he’s got blue eyes — and he responds.”

Hartley said she kept Luca’s microchip registration active all these years. just in case. Last week, she got the phone call she’d been dreaming about.

“They sent me an email, called me like eight times, and let me know, like, my dog had been found,” she said.

Luca was in rough shape and had to undergo surgery to remove a mass.

“We really had to get in there. That was very deep,” said Hartley.

The veterinarian believes that whoever stole Luca used him for breeding and then dumped him when health issues arose.

“He had a [urinary tract infection], blood infection, broken teeth from probably trying to escape a cage,” he said.

Vets said it’ll take about three months for lLuca to fully recover.

After everything, Hartley said, she never stopped believing she’d see her best friend again.

“Then, like that one moment where he crawled up on my bed, and he’s just licking my hand, he’s like looking at me, and I could tell he feels comfortable and safe,” she said. “I’m like, ‘Oh, this is so worth it.'”

These days, Luca is sporting a cone after surgery, prompting his owner to give him a new nickname.

“We call him Cone Head right now,” said Hartley.

Jartley said Luca still loves his favorite snacks: strawberries and peanut butter.

Make your own Halloween treats on this chocolatey SoFlo factory tour https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/make-your-own-halloween-treats-on-this-chocolatey-soflo-factory-tour/ Fri, 31 Oct 2025 01:40:07 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1636627 Chocolate is a Halloween staple. But have you ever wondered what goes into making that delicious, ooey, gooey, melty goodness? Well — wonder no more! Because one SoFlo chocolate shop is serving up the ultimate spooktacular experience.

You don’t have to go trick-or-treating to score something sweet this Halloween.

Exquisito Chocolates in Miami is mixing up tasty treats in the 305.

Carolina Quijano: “We’re Miami’s first chocolate factory, so we actually self-produce all the chocolate onsite from cacao we bring from different farms in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

Forget Willy Wonka, because this place churns out about 1,000 pounds of chocolate a week and they’re serving up some fun flavors for Halloween.

Carolina Quijano: “We love Halloween, so we do a lot of candy treats using Americana candies, everything from Twix to Snickers that we make in house, but monster themed.”

But it’s not just about what you can buy.

Carolina Quijano: “For our tours and classes, we have a ‘make your own chocolate skulls’ class. You get to actually paint your own skull and give it your own flair. So it’s always fun to see people’s creative side come out. So they use the same paint that we use to make our chocolate bon bons.”

No tricks here!

Exquisito’s tour and classes aren’t just educational, they’re delicious.

And the only thing wicked about them is how wickedly good everything smells.

Go on, take a whiff! Okay, okay, lock in.

Because it’s time to channel your inner Picasso and decorate those choco skulls!

Carolina Quijano: “If you wanna do different types of designs like we do, what we do is, you flick ’em.”

Now that’s what I call an edible work of art!

Jessica Argente: “I love to do water colors with my son and that’s been one of the things we’ve been playing around with at home, so it was really cool to put edible paint onto chocolate, and I’m gonna take that home and share it with him.”

Exquisito offers a variety of tours, classes and “make your own chocolate” experiences.

The cast of ‘Regretting You’ talks about first love and grief in romantic drama adaptation https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/the-cast-of-regretting-you-talks-about-first-love-and-grief-in-romantic-drama-adaptation/ Fri, 24 Oct 2025 02:01:29 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1635006 You know the saying, no regerts — oh, I mean, no regrets — well the flick, “Regretting You” is full of it. But in this case, regrets are not for following your heart — not misspelling a tattoo. Deco got to sit down and do a one-on-one with the cast to talk about the past, future and The Real Housewives?

Mother-daughter relationships are complicated.

Based on Colleen Hoover’s book “Regretting You,” this romantic drama touches on grief, betrayal and first love.

Mckenna Grace and Mason Thames play the teens experimenting in love and kissing.

Mckenna Grace: “MTV, best kiss award.”

Mason Thames: “We’re right here.”

Mckenna Grace: “We’re right here. We did a lot of kissing in this movie.”

Mason Thames: “You know we earned it.”

Mckenna Grace: “We put in hours.”

Oh, don’t forget body lifts.

Mason Thames: “Every video we’re in together, I just pick you up. It’s kind of how it works now.”

Mckenna Grace: “I love it.”

Mason Thames: “I love it too.”

Mckenna Grace: “I’m having a great time.”

Mason Thames: “Pretty great.”

Mason Thames: “Most of the time we’re just walking around and I’m like, ‘Hop on my back.'”

Mckenna Grace: “And I’m like, ‘No.'”

Mason Thames: “Because she’s wearing these loafers. The most uncomfortable thing possible. So I’m like, ‘I know your feet hurt.'”

Mckenna Grace: “No. Whoa, whoa. Leave my loafers out of this.”

Mason Thames: “They look cool.”

Mckenna Grace: “I need the height.”

Hunky Scott Eastwood is dad to Mckenna’s character and has some advice for the youngins out there.

Scott Eastwood: “Spend less time off your phone and get out there in the real world and have real conversations with people, you know, be present. This thing, we’re gonna start a whole generation of people bent over and stand up straight, you know.”

Dave Franco and Allison Williams are high school friends in the movie but death forces them to regret a messy secret and makes them reminisce.

Allison Williams: “In this movie, there was also a visual nostalgia to our wardrobes in the flashback scenes.”

Dave Franco: “Oh, yeah.”

Allison Williams: “To me, that was so intense. Like, hearing the flip flop sounds of you and Scott moving around.”

Dave Franco: “Totally. Totally, cargo shorts. We got the bright blue, American Eagle polo.”

But when life gets to lifin’ too hard, there’s nothing like reality TV.

Allison Williams: “I love ‘Unscripted.’ And I’ve just began, I’m a baby Bravo person and I am on season four of the ‘Real Housewives of New York,’ and I am living for it. Not to name drop, but I did get this advice from Andy Cohen, next I’m gonna do Beverly Hills, then New Jersey, so I’m on a journey. I’m very excited. I’ll be hosting all the panels at Bravo Con next year.”

The juicy plot of “Regretting You” hits theaters tomorrow.

Pembroke Pines woman reunites with medical team, therapy dog who saved her life https://wsvn.com/news/local/broward/pembroke-pines-woman-reunites-with-medical-team-therapy-dog-who-saved-her-life/ Wed, 22 Oct 2025 21:39:53 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1634628 A Pembroke Pines woman reunited with the medical team and therapy dog who saved her life after she suffered multiple heart attacks.

It was an emotional moment for Priscilla as the 39-year-old on Wednesday reunited with the team at Memorial Hospital West who refused to give up on her after a large blood clot triggered three cardiac arrests earlier in the year.

“We celebrate the strength, courage and unwavering spirit of Priscilla, who stared down a life-threatening, near fatal illness and came through with grace and determination,” said Dr. Daniel Mayer.

Priscilla’s doctors worked for more than half an hour trying to get a pulse, eventually reviving her.

The patient suffered several organ failures, including liver and respiratory failure, and was put on dialysis.

Eventually, she fell into a prolonged coma.

“I knew I didn’t have much time, as my ability to breathe was worsening by the minute, and I didn’t know what was going to happen next,” said Priscilla.

Doctors were unable to sugarcoat her odds, telling her family she was looking at a 10% chance of survival.

“I remember updating your family in the waiting room with my colleague … we’re delivering really rough news,” said Mayer. “Things looked bad.”

That’s when a miracle happened.

The hospital brought a therapy dog into her room.

Priscilla, still in a coma, reached her hand out to pet the dog.

“As a huge dog lover, this gave me all the motivation to reach out to her as much as possible,” she said.

The remarkable moment spurred on the beginning of her recovery.

Months later, she’s returned to her normal life.

“Couple months ago, I came back to the ER as my mind was playing tricks on me; I prefer to be on the safe side. After imaging and blood work, I was informed that my lungs were 100% clear,” said Priscilla. “I was informed that my heart sounds great, my blood work looks good, as if nothing ever happened.”

Her story of recovery is inspiring everyone who helped her along the way.

“Priscilla, your journey throughout [the intensive care unit] has been nothing short of inspiring. You faced moments of pain, uncertainty and fear, yet you never gave up,” said Mayer.

In an emotional message, Priscilla praised the heroic efforts of the medical staff.

“There are a lot of doctors in the world, but if I can say one thing, it’s be like Dr. Mayer,” said Priscilla.

She also thanked the dog who helped turned around her long odds and fight for another chance to live.

“This celebration is not just about overcoming illness, it’s about the life you continue to live and the light to continue to shine. We are so proud of you and honored to walk this journey with you,” said Mayer.

Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson deal with the threat of a launched nuclear missile in Netflix’s ‘A House of Dynamite’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/idris-elba-rebecca-ferguson-deal-with-the-threat-of-a-launched-nuclear-missile-in-netflixs-a-house-of-dynamite/ Wed, 22 Oct 2025 00:00:30 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1634262 What would you do if you knew someone sent a nuclear missile to destroy the U.S.? run, cry, drink? Well, Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson can only do one of those things — as they try to figure out how to deal with that crisis in the new Netflix film: “A House of Dynamite”. Can you guess which one they picked?

Idris Elba (as President): “I always thought just being ready is the point. It keeps people in check. It keeps the world straight. If they see how prepared we are, no one starts a nuclear war.”

Well, Idris Elba, if you were a betting man, you’d lose your money, because that’s exactly what happens in “A House of Dynamite.”

Voiceover: “Approximately three minutes ago, we detected an ICBM over the Pacific. Current flight trajectory is consistent with impact somewhere in the continental United States.”

And it’s Rebecca Ferguson’s job to find out who launched the missile while planning their next step.

Rebecca Ferguson (as Captain Olivia Walker): “Have we seen DEFCON 2 before?”

Woman: “No.”

Working on the film with Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow was a no-brainer for Idris and Rebecca.

Idris Elba: “Coming to work with Kathryn was about exercising that mass muscle as an actor, which is bringing a little bit of yourself, less awareness of characters, less aware of acting, and bringing that rawness to it, you know.”

Rebecca Ferguson: “There is the texture, it is gritty, and Kathryn’s not scared of things being out of focus.”

Idris Elba: “Mmm.”

Rebecca Ferguson: “It comes back to the ultra-realism of it. She will grab what is offered, and it’s not forced.”

Idris Elba: “Mmm.”

Rebecca Ferguson (as Captain Olivia Walker): “Get in the car and just start driving.”

Now, if you’re shooting an explosive thriller about nuclear war, you want it done correctly. So Kathryn had technical advisors with high-level military experience in the film, a move Anthony Ramos and Tracy Letts were grateful for.

Tracy Letts: “They’re, they’re guys who are in StratCom with me, are guys who have spent their careers in StratCom, and so they were invaluable help to me.”

Tracy Letts (as General Anthony Brady): “If we do not take steps to neutralize our enemies now, we will lose our window to do so.”

Anthony Ramos: “When we finished one of the days, one of our advisors came up to us and goes, ‘Hey man, you guys took us right there. I felt like I was right back there.'”

Anthony Ramos (as Major Daniel Gonzalez): “None of this makes sense: Making all of these bombs and all of these plans. The walls are just ready to blow.”

First phase of public underwater sculpture park underway in Miami Beach https://wsvn.com/news/local/miami-dade/first-phase-of-public-underwater-sculpture-park-underway-in-miami-beach/ Tue, 21 Oct 2025 21:24:24 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1634180 The first phase of creating a life-like traffic jam underwater is underway in Miami Beach as part of their 11-phase project called REEFLINE.

“What once drove us away in nature becomes a stage for its return,” said Ximena Caminos, the founder of REEFLINE. “It’s not about transportation anymore; it’s about transformation.”

Eleven concrete cars were dropped into the ocean around Fourth Street. Once completed, the project is expected to cover seven miles underwater, which officials say isn’t just an artistic effort, but will hopefully help the barrier reef system, host coral restoration and protect the city’s beachfront from storm surge.

“Even though it seems like it’s just an art piece or it might seem a little funny that we’re putting cars in the ocean, they’re actually quite biologically and chemically similar to the type of habitat that a coral would naturally be growing on. It’s immediately gonna provide habitat to fish,” said Colin Foord, REEFLINE’s director of science.

On top of providing crucial benefits to the ecosystem, Foord believes the unique underwater attraction will become a destination to admire the combination of artistry and science.

“The hybridization of art and science, I think, can be really powerful because what we’re doing here, not only are we building habitat for marine life, but we’re also creating an eco-tourism destination that’s gonna put Miami on the map,” said Foord.

Artist Leandro Erlich was the mastermind behind the project.

“We are planning on having lots of different artists. So it really creates a world class art collection, a museum underwater. But at the same time, it is going to be rebuilding this critical habitat that we need,” said Foord.

REEFLINE has been in the works for some time, with this being the first monumental underwater installation.

“We are tackling the power of the arts to bring about and make what’s invisible, visible,” said Brandi Reddick, REEFLINE’s executive director.

REEFLINE hopes to be a pioneer in underwater sculpture parks and hybrid reefs, fusing art, science, education and community action to strengthen marine ecosystems.

With this project, they aim to bring the ocean into the heart of the community surrounding it.

“The reef line will be a huge economic tourist drive for the City of Miami Beach and for the greater Miami county,” said Reddick.

The next batch of 11 concrete cars is planned to be dropped toward the end of October.

Deco catches up with SoFlo designer bringing positivity and creativity in the closet and on the walls https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/deco-catches-up-with-soflo-designer-bringing-positivity-and-creativity-in-the-closet-and-on-the-walls/ Sat, 18 Oct 2025 01:36:27 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1633392 He’s a Miami creative supplying the latest fashion for the closets of celebrities and art for their walls! From Miami to Hollywood — local designer Vic Garcia is catching some serious attention. Deco caught up with the rising star at his Coral Gables studio for a closer look into his super positive and creative world.

You may want to get used to the name Vic Garcia, because very soon you’ll see it everywhere.

The Miami native is spreading positivity through his work as an artist and a clothing designer.

Vic Garcia: “I create all these little characters that you’ll find throughout my different mediums with positive messages, and I’m here to try to leave the world a little better.”

And big names are hanging his work, from rapper Rick Ross to Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo.

For Vic, it’s a dream come true.

Vic Garcia: “It definitely feels good. They are obviously on another stage that maybe not the ordinary person is on and now they are supporters of my dreams.”

But his artwork isn’t the only thing making waves.

Vic Garcia: “I have two separate clothing brands. One is ‘Vic Garcia World,’ which is basically around all my characters and positive messages that you’ll find throughout my drawings, and then I created a second brand called ‘All Good Things Are Welcome Here.'”

A pair of sweats created for his “All Good Things Are Welcome Here” line even appeared on the big screen!

Vic Garcia: “I was watching ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ like all of us, and all of a sudden, Adam Sandler is walking into the scene and he’s wearing my sweatpants and I go, ‘Wow, this is crazy. Like, how did he get my pants?'”

I mean, Vic’s line is sold at more the 60 Macy’s stores nationwide!

His streetwear line “Vic Garcia’s World” is sold on Nordstrom’s website, and it’s also receiving major celeb love.

Vic Garcia: “The other day, I dropped a golf collection and then few days later, people started sending me these photo of DJ Khaled getting off his plane, rocking the shirt.”

While his work is standing on its own, a little family backing definitely helps.

“Godfather” star and Miami resident Andy Garcia is Vic’s uncle, and Vic says the actor has cheered him on from the very start.

Vic Garcia: “He’s definitely a big supporter. He loves what I’m doing. He’s all for it and he keeps pushing me to strive for greatness for sure.”

SoFlo singer Vella channels Amy Winehouse with raspy, emotional new album https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/soflo-singer-vella-channels-amy-winehouse-with-raspy-emotional-new-album/ Fri, 17 Oct 2025 01:36:50 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1633100 Instead of searching “Florida man” or your birthday on the internet, look up Florida’s rising star – Vella. That’s with a “V” — for verified, because she’s certainly social media verified and Vella’s proof the Sunshine State can produce some talent. Deco’s got the inside scoop on her new album — and how she’s riding the waves to stardom.

Vella is not wasting a beat with her new song and album called, “All My Love.”

Vella: “It’s such an awful feeling realizing that, like, someone’s not truly caring about you like you’re caring about them in a way. It’s really heartbreaking but at the same time you got to step your foot, like, you got to put your foot down. And that’s what ‘All My Love’ is about.”

[Music video intro]

Vella: “I love how it starts, like, because it gives, like, just, like, a pouring out, like, your feelings out, slamming that door, it’s the best. I remember we had to do, we had to take a couple of takes on that ’cause I was like, ‘Oh, I got to showcase my anger.'”

The 10-track drop is an outpouring of herself.

Vella: “I always say this album is like a diary of mine. Like you don’t want people seeing your diary but at the same time, like, showcasing, also people can relate to what you’re feeling. So that you’re not alone.”

Channeling the late Amy Winehouse got her start to fame.

Vella: “I got signed in L.A. and, because of TikTok, they saw a video, which, I remember it was a song cover that I did of ‘Me & Mr Jones’ by Amy Winehouse. I just let all my emotions out. That’s part of the ways that I express that, is through my rasp. Like you hear everything through that. And, like, all the imperfections. Which I’m very grateful that I have that part of my voice. It’s my favorite part of me is my raspiness of my voice.”

Wherever she’s at, east coast is home.

Vella: “Oh, I would love to write a song about Florida for sure. ‘Cause I mean, one of my happy places is the beach. I just want to make sure that my music just gives you all the unfiltered, rawness and just all the imperfections in my voice, all the vocal cracks, just everything, just truly Vella and truly unfiltered.”

Woman speaks out after officers arrest her outside daughter’s school in Jacksonville https://wsvn.com/news/local/florida/woman-speaks-out-after-officers-arrest-her-outside-daughters-school-in-jacksonville/ Wed, 15 Oct 2025 20:38:27 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1632674 JACKSONVILLE, Fla.(WSVN)– A Florida woman who was violently arrested outside her daughter’s school is recounting her experience.

The incident happened outside of a school in Jacksonville, where police said 39-year-old Erika McGriff left her car running in an intersection.

“Everything that happened was just like uncalled for, and it’s not fair,” said McGriff.

Body-camera video captured an officer confronting her, and when McGriff refused to hand over her license, the situation turned physical.

“I need your license!” said the officer.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Said McGriff.

“You’re making this way more than it needs to be, walk,” said the officer.

“Please don’t grab me, please don’t grab me, please don’t grab me! I’m not pulling away from you! You got me [expletive] up! You going to punch me?!” yelled McGriff.

“Get on the ground,” said the officer.

“Ow! Ow!” yelled McGriff.

“Oh, you want to fight me?” said the officer.

Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said when his officer attempted to talk to McGriff, she escalated to physical violence.

“She violently resisted Officer Holton and eventually punched him repeatedly and bit him with such force that she left a bite impression on his forearm,” said Jacksonville Sheriff, T.K. Waters.

Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump, who is now representing McGriff, called the arrest excessive and has urged the state attorney to drop the charges, which include battery and resisting with violence, both punishable by up to five years in prison.

“Regardless of what you think about how she should comply, when you look at that excessive force, it is not right,” said Crump

“Everything that happened was just like uncalled for, and it’s not fair,” said McGriff. “All I was trying to do was get my daughter out of the school, from out of school without getting wet, drenched in the rain.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the officer followed department policy.

“He followed the rules, he followed the law,” said Waters.

McGriff’s lawyers claim her arrest reflects a pattern of excessive force over minor traffic violations in Jacksonville.

Keanu Reeves plays an inept guardian angel for a star-studded cast in new comedy, ‘Good Fortune’ https://wsvn.com/entertainment/deco-drive/keanu-reeves-plays-an-inept-guardian-angel-for-a-star-studded-cast-in-new-comedy-good-fortune/ Wed, 15 Oct 2025 01:40:35 +0000 https://wsvn.com/?p=1632441 A new movie hits theaters this week and just like “Freaky Friday,” it’s about swapping lives. But these guys aren’t family — they’re strangers. Throw a guardian angel into the mix, and you’ve got the concept behind “Good Fortune.” The film features a star-packed cast with Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer and Aziz Ansari.

Keanu Reeves is winging it in “Good Fortune” as a guardian angel.

And we say he’s “winging it” because, when he meddles in the lives of a struggling temp worker and a wealthy venture capitalist, things go sideways.

Seth Rogen is the capitalist and Aziz Ansari plays the temp worker.

Aziz Ansari: “I love to collaborate with the actors and we have such an amazing cast.”

Aziz also got to boss the cast around because he wrote and directed the film.

Keanu Reeves: “There would be times when we would be doing a scene and Aziz would just yell, ‘OK, now say, okay now, say, how about this line? Try this line,’ so there’s a great formalization to the script and a wonderful improvisational environment.”

One thing not scripted?

Keanu Reeves: “Comedy is hard and that there’s danger everywhere.”

Aziz Ansari: “It feels like something out of Seth’s show, ‘The Studio.’ It was just like, ‘Hey, so, Keanu went down.’ It’s like, ‘Wait, what do you mean? Where?’ They’re like, ‘He tripped, tripped on a rug in his dressing room.’ I was like, ‘What?’ And then he comes down and his knee’s bleeding and Keanu was like, ‘Let’s just shoot, let’s shoot, let’s shoot.'”

Keanu’s not only fixing lives in the movie; he learns how to have a little fun himself.

Since “Good Fortune” is all about guardian angels, guys, who would you want to be your guardian angel?.

Keanu Reeves: “I’m gonna go with Laurence Fishburne. He’s been a guardian angel for me for many years.”

Aziz Ansari: “I’m going to go with one of my ‘Parks and Rec’s’ castmates, maybe Amy Poehler or Aubrey Plaza.”
